These are absolutely amazing. As a traitor guard/ lost and the damned fan, I have been starved for accurate models. The only thing these ogryns are missing are some hazzard stripes on the guns and armor plates. If you could, I'd love to see every bit of Darktide traitors that you could convert, from traitor champions and stormtroopers to the lowly groaner infected. The Mobian 6th need models, I can't wait for your next conversion!
The Crypt Horror heads are a particularly good touch, considering the lack of nose on many of the traitor guards in Darktide (whether by self mutilation or rot). Amazing job! 👍

I know you do a decent amount of work in post on these videos and you don’t really have the materials to do “2nd takes” but compared to other painting and kitbash creators on TH-cam and abroad, it’s refreshing to see your mistakes, corrections and vision for the model evolve in the video where others might cut the iterative process out in the final release. This is encouraging for beginner kitbashers like myself that the initial vision should not be set in stone and it’s ok for plans to change through out the creation.
This is one of my favorite videos you've ever done, it really captures the feel of a corrupted Ogryn. Got me thinking about one of the saddest parts of the lore in 40k. Ogryns are fiercely loyal to the Emperor, because they're simple. I read somewhere, that the way a traitor guard regiment gets Ogryns to turn traitor is to tell them that they're still serving the Emperor and that the people they're killing are traitors, and the Ogryns believe it until the point where Chaos completely corrupts them :(
This is really excellent. There are times where I find your conversions to be a little... Basic looking. This is absolutely not one of them. You absolutely nailed the look, and the head choice was nailed right on. Hats off to you! I'd love to see you tackle some grotesques, as I find those to have really amazing potential, though a lot of people just stick to the tried and tested "vargheists with talos' heads and weapons", which, while awesome looking, becomes quite stale after a while.
good note for using the Enamels/oils like the AK stuff.. you dont need to varnish at all. especially if you're going grimdark where you want the streaking grime to stick a bit.. varnish is only really necessary if you want to use a Q-tip to clean some of it back off raised areas to the previous paint layer with no disruption.

Not that it really matters but you keep using the Aquila [latin for eagle] term in case of the Winged Skulls and as far as I know it only referes to the Two Headed Eagle insignia. It's a reference to the Roman Empire Eagle which was a symbol of imperial rule. The winged skull is called Imperialis - the Horus Heresy loyalists' emblem. Also - great video - I'm currently maining Ogryn in Darktide.
Damn, these look fantastic. Wonder what I could run a unit of them as in a CSM army, chaos spawn maybe? Sidenote, would be awesome to see a Tuska Daemonkilla conversion, or possibly one of his boyz or nobs. Obviously before they went to Ork heaven. They're probably beyond Krorks at this point.
Skin color is often a shade of orange, mixed with white. Orange can be a wide different shades, depending on how much red and yellow. Varying this ratio and adding white or black can give a wide range of different skin colors. If u look at a color wheel, the colors on the opposite side from orange, you find blues. So, if u use blue as a shade for skin, the blue should be transparent so you can have a smooth transission, from the darkest shadows to the lighthest highlight. Depending on what shade of orange you chose, your skin can go from black and dark blue, to purple, to orange or skin color, to skin color mixed with white og light yellow.
You know, I too had to fit the ripper guns with the ogryn armor in the past. Wasn't too bad actually, using green stuff and shoulder plates to hide all the transitions sure was helpful.
I’m currently planning on using an Irongut to make a “Crusher” but this has given me more ideas to make the set of three I’ve just gotta find something for the Bulwarks shield.
cool conversion as per usual however I would have used a more red purple for the skin. Looking forward to some possessed eight-bound when they drop or some chaos influenced xenos..?
I love what you did with theese, but the models just cry out for the full plate helmet of the Ironguts, possibly with chainmail. It would make the melee one even more intimidating!
Those came out great. Not a fan of the pinkish/purple skin tone personally, but the overall effect works well. The Crypt Horror heads worked out way better than I expected.
It was a good call to remove the mournfang rider head. I think it was a little too big. Excellent work. Another option for a head would be to greenstuff a sackcloth hood like you see on the old oop FW renegade ogryn.

Here's my idea for you @petethewargamer . Night Lord's Omnibus is full of character for its characters. You Kitbash all of the Night Lords of First Claw since they are themselves are kitbashes of whatever gear they can salvage. Paint them up. Then take your clippers to those completed models and use their parts to Kitbash Decimus (who is a kitbash of all of First Claw), effectively making the most kitbashed model ever made.
Maybe a small tip for rivets (like the ones on the belts). If you want to add new rivets (if needed), you can use Micro Glass Balls from Greenstuffworld.
I love your conversions, but the painting guides have really inspired me to try and get better at painting more detailed individual models. I'd be interested in seeing some form of beastman turned mechanical for 40k, always struggled painting fur but thought the idea could be a fun conversion.
These look great! Here's hoping with all the new guard kits and traitor guard kits coming out that soon we will be seeing these delightfully chunky lads getting the face lift (And off) that they deserve soon.
Great job, as usual. The only things I would have done different, to enhance the chaotic vibe would be a) a barbed wire wrap around the head of the power maul, b) a couple sections of fine chain here and there (either to hang trophies, or some small chaos icons/symbols), c) paint on a couple chaos symbols (messy, field paint job) on the armor. either in a deep, dark red or in a cold grey-ish off white. But that's just me :) These are still fantastic :) Hmmm.. Wonder if with the upcoming World Eaters codex, you could convert some khornate berserker ogryns to stand in as the Eightbound. A frenzied ogryn with double huge chainaxes sounds epic :) just a thought.
Love to see move chaos conversions, especially from darktide. Dunno if these were chaos-y enough for me personally tho haha, would like to have seen a bit more mutations and nurgly bits. The bright pink/purple skin looked a bit odd too. Otherwise tho another solid build. Cant wait to see whats next.
I would love to see you tackle Obiliterators based on how they were depicted when they were first released! They looked more like The Borg from Star Trek back then, than the hulking mutants they are now. :)
Great looking models. The only thing I'd maybe have added would be some glyphs or symbols, like maybe the classic chaos star on the front of the breastplate
would have mixed the skin colour with the purple wash.. would give you a much more natural feel to that purple tone for the skin. takes a little more work but you would use that combo as the base coat for the skin, and work up from there.
I was kind of hoping to see the crusher as it has unique look since it has no skin showing. Even the most well armored ogryn have some muscle or bald head showing.
awsome work, one i can only dream of to archive. But since im playing Darktide right now, i would have gone more for a Nurgle-ish Green/Brown for the Skin (like the gread unclean one) rather than the fleshy "pink-ish". For the Weapons, i think Melee Weapons would kinda fit more since the one ingames also dont shoot.

They made a noob-tube in the latest white dwarf it was perfectly identical.

I'd love to see some of the Vermintide enemies like this too. Not all of them has modern, good-looking equivalents in the Skaven/Chaos range.
