- In this episode, we explore the famous Bondi beach everyone talks about here in Sydney, where many TV series are filmed, like Bondi Rescue. Bondi is one of Australia’s most iconic beaches. Reliable waves draw surfers, while nearby hardy locals swim year-round in the Icebergs ocean pool. We explore as much as we can and give you a raw, authentic view of the beach and the surrounding area, like Bondi junction, Bondi road, and the cafes and bakery the area offers!

Sydneysider here. Bondi is a historic beach because it is close to the city, but locals will tell you that Manly Beach is much better. If you go to Manly Beach take the SLOW ferry to Manly (30 minutes) and spend a day to 1/2 a day at Manly. Make sure to have lunch at the Manly Skiff Sailing Club, they have great views of the Harbour.
that's exactly what locals told us😅 We went to Manly and filmed it, video is coming up soon🤗
Visitors to Manly should also walk south to Shelly Beach which is a very pleasant sheltered cove. So facing out to sea at Manly Beach, turn right. About 2 km or 10 mins walk.
Nah Bondi is better
@@DanielKing-dk5nr Yeah, nahh
@@dexterplameras3249 nahh, yeah
Bondi is beautiful. So close to the city, gorgeous sand and a great place to swim.
No need to compare - all our beaches are special in their own way.
It's not over rated. We are so lucky ❤
Very lucky indeed!
It's got a city on its backdrop, that's 💩
@@t-dog8528 Better than Melbourne city
@@t-dog8528See, you look out, not in. Glass half full, beach in a city. Glass half empty, city on a beach.
Love your enthusiasm. I met my wife holidaying in London in 1974, and she brought me out here. It’s a new world. Was and is a breath of fresh air.
I love watching the positive vibe you both have whilst discovering new places. I cant wait to see you discover the blue mountains & its beauty
Thanks G & M, a trip down memory lane for me. I used to live in an apartment opposite Wellington Cakes for a wee while, but rarely went to the beach. Sydney is such a great city & I loved every minute of my 10 or so years there. Happy travels x
Great visuals. I wish you could have seen it in the 80s - so much has changed since the 'bad old days', but Bondi definitely had character. It was rarely rough during the day though - that distinction went to Maroubra a few km south of Bondi.
You guys are a lot of fun. Your excitement is infectious.
Kiwi here. Must watch The Castle (1997), Nice watch The Dish (2000). Also, aussies are just good blokes and shelias that talk funny.
It's mutual. Aussies love Kiwis too.
Finally Guys, Videos from Australia. Boy you have a big land to discover. Great to see.
Tell me about it, so so much to see🤣 we will do our best though to see as much as we can in the year
Finally you guys made it here to Sydney, been waiting since you guys left New Zealand, so glad you are here in my second home, cant wait for your content.
Here's to another great series 🎉
TY for your videos. They are my comfort videos.
aww thanks for watching, means a lot to us💛
Bondi is one of most beautiful beach in the world. I love it.
As a resident of Sydney and regular beach goer, the northern beaches are far better and more natural.😊
But no beach can match bondi because of its location and beauty.
@@Prince077AussieHave you never been to Fremantle?
@@petermcculloch4933 Fremantle is beautiful. Infact all beaches in Australia are beautiful in their own ways including bondi. There is no competition.
Tourists will always say Bondi
as a aussie who lives inland i say its like everywhere its good to visit , all news places are good to see and explore then the ,,its familar ,,and time to visit somewhere else enjoy
Thanks! Australia is so big there is always something new to explore😅
Sydney itself has over 70 beaches. Bondi/Bronte is the birthplace of surf lifesaving worldwide and Speedo swimwear....it all started there.
You can definitely feel the surfer vibes at Bondi & Bronte😅
Is Bondi Beach worth the hype ? I guess that depends on what you are looking for. It is not the Miami of Australia it is the Bondi of Australia it is not a copy of anywhere in the world Bondi has its own personality. Millions of tourists love Bondi as do many Aussies but there are also those who prefer other beaches so for them maybe its not worth the hype. People can make their own call because at the end of the day its only your own personal opinion. Glad you guys are back in Australia and enjoying your experience I hope the summer heat doesnt get too much for you..
Welcome to Australia…Bondi is popular with tourists because it’s close to the city. But take the time to get to the northern beaches…get the ferry to manly and the 199 bus will take you to many beaches on the north. Get up to Manly, Dee Why, Avalon, Bilgola, Whale, Palm Beach.
There are nice beaches all around Australia. Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane (Queensland) and Sydney and in between een. Queensland has some beautiful beaches and is tropical, you cant make a judgement on one city as being representative of the entire country!
i recommend you go up to the tablelands, if it gets too hot for you in Summer, Armidale is a very nice get away with days rarely getting above 30c. Pretty and cute town, as much as i dig on my hometown and i can say it is objectively pretty and the natural landscape is a must when visiting the region.
If you go during summer, go to Armidale then drive to Coffs and hang around there, and make sure you stop by Dangar Falls in Dorrigo for a very nice swim under a waterfall.
They could do the waterfall way and travel to Armidale via Dorrigo and Bellingen Valley, stopping at Wollomombi Falls enroute.
And include Glen Innes!
Great atmosphere in the streets . Might have ho go back one day. Haven't been for 40 years
If you get a chance make sure you go to the Glebe Markets in Glebe on Saturday just down by Broadway at the beginning of the CBD, this is one of the best markets in Sydney by my reckoning it has that bohemian or hippie feeling about it plus sometimes they have live music. And now being summer it is the best time to go.
Love the vibes
Brother that is not white sand beach. Go down south towards Jervis bay and check out Hyams Beach very nice drive there and very nice beach
I prefer golden sand over white sand anyday
The "birds in the background" were rainbow lorikeets....the birds in the small gum tree were noisy miner's.
Yay youre in OZ : )
Just so you know - Australia and New Zealand dont have "Housing Estates" - we have Suburbs.
Hope you do the Camel Trek across the desert.
God bless you both with heaps of fun.
You’ll find the Miami of Australia is more commonly attributed to the Gold Coast.
Royal Hotel has not changed in 30 years, used to be my regular drinking hole (in the 80's!)
ahh Bondi Beach, I lived there in the 80,s.... Welcome back to Oz Glen And Mado, hope you get up to Northern NSW sometime..😀
We try to see as much as we can!😊
Welcome to County Bondi the home for the Irish in Sydney ❤
Indeed, we've seen lots of Irish in the area😅
I'd suggest that tourists should take the ferry to Manly, rather than the bus to Bondi. Firstly, it gives them a chance to experience a ferry, rather than a bus - which they can probably experience in their own home. The ferry gives lots of views of the harbourside suburbs and into the bays, views which no bus ride can give and a experience different to that which they could have elsewhere. And thirdly, we think that Manly is the better beach for those wanting a surf.
Manly better for shopping too
@@coopsnz1 Sorry, never thought of shopping. I'm not a shopper in the sense of liking to wander around shops. Shops are places I go to to do the weeks shopping - groceries, greengroceries, meat etc.
Bondi is still better.
@@Prince077Aussie Each to their own opinion.
As a semi regular visitor to Sydney I too rate the Ferry/Manly day trip way higher than Bondi.
When Australia and NZ were first settled the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars were the current crisis so a lot of things are named after successful generals (Wellington) and admirals (Nelson, Collingwood) and battles (Trafalgar, Waterloo) of the time. Later on the Crimean War (so many Alma, Sevastopol and Balaclava streets).
The beautiful beaches are on the north and south coast. Newcastle/ Lake Macquarie is beautiful.
Coogee beach is pronounced "Coo-gee". You guys are most welcome. (Now I'm hungry looking at your food coverage.) Cheers from Sydney.
The NSW coast has about 75% of all the ocean pools in the world.....some natural some man made.
We went to a few along the NSW coast and absolutely loved them!
When you have a coffee in Australia you sit down; have it in ceramic cup; and enjoy. We're not in New York. You don't need to walk with it. Enjoy.
HAHAHAHAHA. You'll ALWAYS find a good coffee, MOST of the time. HAHAHAHAHA. Gotta be Oirish. ❤❤❤❤
Glen, when you speak of health and its importance, too many coffees are a real issue. If you also work out seriously, take serious notice of any palpitations. My eldest son had to stop the coffee forever, as has my youngest. It is something to really consider. Seriously. Many yrs ago, a late uncle got hooked on it so bad, he became chronically ill, for many many months. Take care Glen.
Welcome to Oz. 😎
Just remember - in Australia a Hotel can often mean a pub!
Also remember a pub is a good place to get a reasonably priced meal
❤❤❤❤❤
Now you are in Australia - you have to experience a multi day camping summer bush music festival such as Esoteric Festival, Golden Plains, Pitch Music & Arts. Ask some folk your age what is going on. Dancing till dawn under the stars on a warm summer night is special.
Thanks, will look into those but we're not the big festival people, we like peace & quite in nature haha😅
I use to live in Bondi in a flat across the rd from Bondi beach in the 1980 it was ok not the most popular beach back then
The NSW town of Wellington was named after the Duke of Wellington (who defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo) so I assume the street is the same.
Welcome to Australias famous beach
Bondi isn't the Miami of Australia,.... that would be the Gold Coast in QLD. Also head south to Cronulla, ferry over to Bundeena in the Royal National Park and visit Wedding cake Rock and figure 8 pools further down the coastal walk. Karloo Pools are not far from Heathcote station (3klm walk) through the bush. Locals down there swim there.
Great vlog guys. But you might want to take a deep breath here. That block of apartments on Campbell Parade that you suggested would cost $1.5 to $2 million? Apartment 302 (2 bedroom, 2 bath 1parking spot) sold for $4.75 million in 2021. That's level 3, not the penthouse or the 2 sub - penthouses! Eastern Suburbs real estate prices are just about criminal. Worth it? Probs not, but that's how it is. Looking forward to next 8 months. Cheers!
Thank you! oh wow the prices are insane!😳
1 bed apartment sold 2 million
Real estate prices are all about demand and supply. There is a demand, hence the prices are higher.
Is Bondi worth the hype?
No.
We just let the tourists have it and keep the better beaches to ourselves.
I think the bird you showed up close was a Lorikeet
Thai massage those places always have good story to tell they end with a happy ending lol
Go to West Head or Scotland Island. You’ll get footage that other channels miss.
My home!
A lot of places were named Wellington and Waterloo after the battle of Waterloo in 1815 - we would never name anything after the New Zealand city 😂
You will see similar names in oz and Nz generally named after famous ,infamous English people or place names
We have noticed that, pretty interesting as both countries were colonised around the same time so make sense lol
Miami of Australia is Surfers paradise at Gold Coast. Bondi and Manly don't have plenty of high rise buildings and Manly and Bondi don't have very long beach.
price of apartments at 13:30 are $25m+
that's crazy!
25 million bondi na in point piper yes
@@coopsnz1 you're correcting the wrong guy. 3/8-10 Notts Ave (3 bed) sold two years ago for $24m. Would be $30m+ now. A one bedder in same complex 1/8-10 Notts ave, on bottom floor sold for $11m last month.
Point Piper has several houses for $100m+ and one currently on market for $250m.
Eastern Suburbs of Sydney is very different to the rest of Sydney and Australia.
@@coopsnz1 then James Packer sold his run-down old apartment in Bondi across the road for $29m recently. These are only apartments btw. Some of the mansions on the cliffs in North Bondi are worth double and treble that. Seems like you're unfamiliar with the eastern suburbs of sydney. You're allowed to google any of this to fact check me before looking like an idiot like in your first comment.
my shar pei's name is bondi . because shar pei means sand skin . he's a beautiful dog . and yes i live in sydney lol .
Go to South Australia or Tasmania the big two cities are over done by travellers.
Surfers Paradise is the Miami of Australia, just saying. 😊
Broadbeach taken over, Surfers a bit of desolate place now,
A Big Yes. Overrated. Definitely not Miami😂😅😂😅
There are also other stunning coastal walks around Australia. The Great Ocean Road; and throughout Queensland as an example. One comment about Sydney, doesnt make it correct.
If you want to see beautiful beaches with dramatic settings come to Cape Town. Only Rio compares to the beauty of Cape Town.
I have been to Cape Town beautiful but not as good as OZ! 😂
The Broker is actually called A real estate not a broker
If the owner of the cake shop is from Budapest , I would guess they are part of the Jewish diaspora who have made their home in Australia. Bondi has a very large Jewish community that has lived in the area for a long time.
The Dutch thought NW Australia was part of Indonesia.
It was ok and then all the tourists turned up haha. No offence, tourist spots are always wrecked worldwide
You have nice accents
Go to WA...incredible beauty...Bondi is soo average by comparison...and yep, it's far from white sand.
We will make it there eventually! We’re trying to see most of the country 🙌
There are heaps better beaches in Australia . The ones in our national parks are very scenic and are more beautiful than Bondi beach .
Jervis bay great spot ! Im camping there in jan

It’s not that special. It’s just an average beach that is pretty close to the city
Please never compare anywhere in Australia let alone Bondi to Miami. It’s not even slightly the same. It has its own unique culture as does Australia and that is not grotesque symbols of wealth and “ look at moi” like Miami.
Yep it is overrated due to the tourists, real Aussies avoid it.

Its a "city beach" and having it so close to a major city Sydney is great. ...Australia is a country of hundreds of great beaches they are all different...if you haven't traveled o/s and your beach experience in other countries is limited you will only compare it to other Australian beaches ...
Bondi beach on a weekday is top draw
