      Hi, could you please explain the example " A man was sitting at home alone on a sofa". You said 7 schwa sounds are there but only 6 times schwa sounds were marked in red.

    • @EasyENGLISHwithJames
      @EasyENGLISHwithJames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@rajap8320 Hi Raja P! You are correct! There are 6 schwa sounds in that sentence. Thank you for pointing out that little mistake! I have now trimmed the video so that it skips the part where I say 7. It should be correct now (but students will have to count 6 themselves :) )
      The video is actually correct (it shows 6 schwa sounds) but sometimes my brain goes crazy when I'm trying to remember everything to say.
      Thanks again!

    • @EasyENGLISHwithJames
      @EasyENGLISHwithJames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In this video I am pronouncing this sentence with 13 schwa sounds (using a British Modern RP accent).
      It is written (using the IPA) like this:
      ðə ˈmʌðə ðə ˈbrʌðə ðə ˈfɑːðər ən ðə ˈsɪstə wɜːr ɔːl təˈgɛðər ɪn ə ˈʃɒpɪŋ ˈsɛntə.
      BUT, don’t worry if you also put 12,14 or even 15 because in many English accents (American, Australian, Canadian and British) you will hear up to a maximum of 15 schwa sounds depending on the accent.
      For example…. Some accents write mother and brother with one schwa at the end of each word (mʌðə and ˈbrʌðə) but other accents have mother with two schwa sounds (məðə ˈbrəðə).
