  • Experience the Section E of the Great Divide Trail(GDT), a natural wonders and immerse yourself in the vibrant ecosystem that thrives along our unforgettable thru-hike adventure.
Hiking the Great Divide Trail provided me a wilderness experience that is rarely found today.
•This hike was harder than I expected, had to surpass myself a couple of times! Unmaintained trail, no trail at all (route finding required), animal sightings and encounters, isolation, unbridged creeks and rivers, and long distances between resupplies…I just love it!
•The stretch between Saskatchewan Crossing and the town of Jasper passes through remote areas of White Goat Wilderness Area and the decommissioned trails of the Maligne Valley.
•At the same time it also passes through the extremely popular Skyline Trail and Jonas Shoulder sections of Jasper National Park. However, if you love hiking above the treeline, this is the section for you.
•Cataract Pass was my GDT favorite pass, just incredibly beautiful!
•This video is showing Section E from North Saskatchewan River Crossing to Jasper
    •Section length: 188.9km
    •Section E hiked from August 28th to September 2nd

Beautiful eye! I love that you included the rough audio in your edit…really takes me to the mountains with you. That descent from Cataract Pass is one of my personal favs.

Thank you David a comment like this really motivates me! I couldn’t believe how beautiful Cataract Pass was, it's as if we had put the best of all the parts of the whole GDT in the same place, have to go back there one day!!

Section E looks really wild. Some places no hint of trail. Well done Rudy! I can see you hiked back and forth a lot to show us all scope, perspective, and sense of place. My buddy says ‘oh the one with no sound’. Maybe he is not listening ha ha
    So glad I met you.

Section E was my favorite, except for the Maligne Pass Trail(overgrown trail) 😅
It was an incredible experience, harder than I thought, full of surprises like the grizzly…met really impressive people like you, which gives another meaning to the hike, a source of motivation! I hope you will have the chance to hike section D and E next year! Glad i met you too Jackie!!

Wow!, well done, you caught some nice weather. Nice videography, lots of effort getting all those shots of you with the backdrop, nice stuff. Looks like some sketchy spots for trail finding, I imagine a gps route helped out. I am thinking of fast packing this maybe in Aug 2023.

Thank you Larry, I appreciate it! Yes sometimes the weather is on our side 🙂 I use FarOut for navigation! I have never tried fast packing, it looks like a big challenge, I really hope you have the chance to do it!

Just wonderful. Again, love the closeups of flowers. Glad you took the time to film the butterfly and others on the Moss Campion. And good capture of the Northern Harrier.

Thank you Linda, it is interesting to observe them closely, we often tend to forget that they exist, except for mosquitoes 😜

beautiful videos - really nice quality - nice blend of macro/focal length in your shots. What did you shoot these shots with - really stable - did you use a gimbal - nice work!

Thank you Larry!! I’ve used the iPhone 13 Pro to film everything, the DJI osmo 4 stabilizer when walking on difficult rough terrain and a tripod: JOBY Gorillapod 1K Stand. Video edited on VN app on the iPhone directly.

Started the trail august 1st till September 2nd. I was wearing Altra Lone Peak 6.0, zero drop shoes, very light but they don’t last as long as other brand! Are you thinking about hiking it?

    • @Ratatrail
      @Ratatrail  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thank you Dovie Ruth, it means a lot!! I’ve used the iPhone 13 Pro, my trekking pole to hold the phone with a small tripod and edit everything on the iPhone with VN app!

@@Ratatrail It honestly looks like you are using a big fancy camera.

@@DovieRuthAuthor Cellphone camera are getting better and better, it’s light weight and the water resistance is the reason why I’ve used it, so convenient on a long trail like this one!
