    RTV is not recommended with these trans gaskets, been doing mine for years without RTV and never had a drip. Also make sure when installing the new gasket for the filter to install it on the Trans and not over the filter tube itself, heard of a lot of problems resulting from this, great video and very good explaning..

    If you are replacing the pan you could have just drilled a small hole in the pan to drain the oil.

    • @leh3827
      @leh3827 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can drive an awl in too drain it too, if it's a stamped pan, and then braze the hole shut to reuse👻

    The recommended fluid change for the ATF for a 2007 says every 100,000 miles or 36 months which ever comes first, and to change the filters and fluid and use Mopar ATF+4.

    When I do a Automatic Transmission pan gasket, fluid, and filter change I get the pan and magnetic clean. Change the filter. Then put the RTV silcone gasket maker on the pan side only. Then the gasket the bolt it up in place in a even pattern and torque it to spec. Then allow it to dry at least 24 hours. Then fill it with new transmission of the proper type. Then let it idle and check the cold full level add ATF if needed Then later after driving 15 minutes at least check the full level hot and add if needed. If it is remote start disconnect the battery first. Don't start the vehicle untill transmission has the correct amount of the proper ATF!!!

    The actual problem I had (have ) was removing the damn pan. The screws and draining was easy but the actual pan does not come out from between the cat and crossmember or whatever the f that is

    If you have bits of metal in your fluid even if it's black put it back in. It's common that people flush it and add new fluid and it starts slipping. Sometimes those bits of metal are the only thing helping the gears lol.

    I think reason your bolts broke is because the torque spec is 105 'inch' lbs. not Ft. lbs. The Ft. lbs spec is 8.75 ft. lbs

    • @link375
      @link375  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good to know thank you for this info. I grew up with the metric system so inches and feet are pretty dumb in my opinion but it is what it is

    • @link375
      @link375  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      An update to this, the job has held up for almost a year now with a very small leak, if it gets worse I'll take it to a shop for them to fix the broken bolts

    • @robwilson1140
      @robwilson1140 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@link375Just so we are clear. You torqued a tiny 8mm bolt into an aluminum case to 105 ft lbs. But the feet and inches are what's dumb.

    HEY MAN YOU LEFT PART OF OLD GASKET ON TRAINMISSON . AND TZONE IS RIGHT INCH' LBS NOT FT LBS .' HAVE GOOD DAY

    • @link375
      @link375  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to know, I plastered ultra black all over the sides and let it sit 24 hours. So far it's been holding up for almost a year now with a very minimal leak. I'll take it to the shop if the leak gets worse for them to fix the broken bolts. I just make sure to check the fluid once a week to make sure there's no issues.

    Do u ever get high temp transmission light for no reason with good fluid and everything shifting good

    • @link375
      @link375  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never seen that before, it might be a faulty temp sensor if everything is good and your fluid isn't dark.

      I do in my 06 4.7. Got it yesterday and when it does it the tranny shifts weird til the message goes away. I’ve read up it and it seems to point to the shifter control board. The contacts get dirty. Need to remove shifter and clean the board.

    I would just punch a hole in the pan with screwdriver or something carefully obviously to grain the oil rather than dealing with all that mess since im changing the pan anyway

      Only if you over-tighten them and bend the pan. 9 inch-pounds.

    you mean 105 "inch" lbs NOT Foot Lbs (as voaclized in video)

    Can you do a solid review of this product

  • @rottinappulz6561
    @rottinappulz6561 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    When you are finished with your torque wrench, you are supposed to zero it out all the time. If not it loses its calibration, thereby making inch and foot pound measurements inaccurate.

  • @eegg6954
    @eegg6954 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    "105 foot pounds" for the pan bolt? No wonder you broke the bolts. That's tighter than a wheel lug. Better check that number dude. (more like 9 foot-pounds or 105 inch-ponds)

  • @emindedf0
