    honestly, even seeing the busted ones are nice. while i dont know what happened (they could have been left to the elements for all we know) theres some that are very obviously well loved

    I purchased a DS lite recently and attempted to do a shell swap. I took a working DS Lite with a broken shell and turned it into a non working DS Lite in a poorly made Ali Express shell. Wanted to reach out to you and see if you wanna take a look at it and make a video out of correcting whatever I did wrong. I'd love to know the various things I did wrong haha

    those who display the stuff fine on the top screen sometimes can be a result of the ribbon cable for the screen just being loose or broken

    • @Retro.Revolution
      @Retro.Revolution  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      100%, the cable is attached to the top screen though so if the cable is torn or broken then it's basically the same as the whole LCD being smashed, since there's no way to fix it

    I also have an ds board where the led is out. I recommend measuring the resistance of the led on that board to see if it’s just the led or somewhere else. Use a multimeter for that

    I ordered an NDSL from Japan. I got it for like $35 Canadian (probably too much right?) Apparently it has some screen burn (yellowing) and stuck A and B buttons. It's one of those typical gross fleshy pink ones where the clear top of the case starts to yellow with time and becomes more fleshy. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can add new housing & fix it up! lol

    Heads up, you can get rid of the yellowing by leaving the screens on max brightness for a while (few days for slightly, weeks for super yellow) though I don’t know how fast you sell these it might be worth it so you can get a little more

      @Retro.Revolution  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Seriously? Dude imma try that out literally now. This is my job so being able to 'fix' yellowed screens would be so nice 😭

      The issue with this method is that I've noticed that once it is turned off for a substantial period of time, the yellowing seems to slowly come back. I'm not sure if it is always this way, but so far the few I've tried to de-yellow this way end up being yellow when I turn them back on a few days later.

    • @PotatoHunts
      @PotatoHunts 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@chartreuse3686 though I haven’t tested them out after deyellowing too much, the Ds’ already yellow on their own, so they turning yellow after being left off could be as a result of natural yellowing as opposed to reverting back to how they were. Out of curiosity how long were the yellowed ones off for?

    • @PotatoHunts
      @PotatoHunts 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Apparently I didn’t see the end of the message, though I do know that the ones I’ve tried have staying whiter even after they’ve been off for a few weeks

    • @chartreuse3686
      @chartreuse3686 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@PotatoHunts it may be more of an issue depending on how yellow the lcd is. The few I've tried it on have had screens that were almost mustard colored. They did improve substantially, but some of that improvement was lost after being powered up again a few days later. I'll do a few tests myself on a couple of slightly yellowed lcds and comment back to see what I come up with. Finding a solution to the yellowing would be great as it would save many consoles from being torn up for parts or thrown into the trash!

    do you ever have any trouble getting these shipped to you bc of the lithium ion batteries in them? there's a small lot of 3ds's on yahoo auctions japan i want to get but i'm worried abt running into shipping issues bc of the batteries

    • @Retro.Revolution
      @Retro.Revolution  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I have not, all Japanese sellers on eBay have used either FedEx Express or DHL Express international and those shipping services take care of anything to do with the lithium batteries:)
