I think they need a sign on the other side similar to the one about not cycling in the tunnel. A red circle with an image of horse with a line through it, I would think that would be universal in most countries if not all, don't touch the horse. No excuse for not understanding english.
No disrespect to the Life Guards intended. It was disheartening to see. The Life Guards in the boxes. Allow the Guard Horses. To be touched so frequently. The Life Guards could have pulled. The horse away and back. And told the parents/children not to touch the horse. Like I said in part 1. How are our children going to learn. To respect rules. If we don't educate and lead by example. John, did you see a news segment about Horse Guards by Neil Sean’s Daily News Headlines?It came up in my for you page, don’t know who he is. He was talking about traditions ending because of people/tourists who take advantage or get out of control.
@@JoanMinchew-it1lz Or change the signs back if they don’t care if they are enforced. It’s too confusing for people to have one guard say one thing, the other the opposite. I’ve seen/heard a few kid melt downs because on one side they are petting the horse, and then they or their parents are told no on the other side. It’s also just embarrassing to have a sign at a military facility stating a rule and then tourists blatantly ignoring it. The signs are in the background of all those pictures. And the people, now, who are the worse offenders are people who can absolutely read the signs. I think the confusion about “Reins” in the past for some tourists was because the word didn’t translate easily, or they didn’t know what reins even are. It’s clear, now, that pretty much everyone can read the signs.

Yes it is not rocket science. Very frustrating I imagine for guards doing the right thing. I watched the other day a situation, one guard was very good, nipped in bud and due to this other tourists see this. She didn't shout just firmly and politely informed a couple of tourists. It was lovely and calm at her side people respectfully getting their photos and moving on. The other guard did nothing and eventually a couple of those atvhis pawing the horse went to the other side and tried the same thing with her. Then looked annoyed when she said no These tourists many are like children in their behaviour and just like children need boundaries set and consistency.

There was someone in comments of another video that spoke Italian, and they said there were Italian tourists in the video who first read the sign out in Italian, then there were people touching the horse and the mom said to her kids in Italian, “Touch the horse, touch the horse, the guard will say nothing.” And the guard said nothing.

The fact that the Troopers aren’t enforcing the “Don’t touch the house” rule makes the MOD look utterly stupid. Someone needs to point this out to the LifeGuard and Blues & Royals command officers. You look like you don’t have control of your troops. This makes me sad 😢
They Definitely need a separate sign on the opposite wall, that says 'DON'T TOUCH THE HORSE!! Because the tourists are not paying any attention to the other sign. Plus, the Guards are guilty of not enforcing their own rules!
They should have a sign showing a horse with a hand extended to touch it with a big red ❌ over the picture stating DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSE the picture is universal in any language!
People with special needs, elderly needing assistance should be able to enjoy the horses as they are able. A person with blindness needs feel, for example & yes, we have seen blind people needing to touch.

I made the decision not to watch this video as I saw the other day one undermining the rule and the other good guard dealing with the repercussions of his inaction. I find it too frustrating to watch so taking a rest

@Babs3353 They are watched, they see. I hate that it's being seen and let go. They should take the signs down. People are laughing at them, (which I hate) because they read the sign and test the waters to see if they will enforce it. This morning, the WONDERFUL lady officer told this lady not to touch, and she laughed and just went to the other side and started petting and kissing the horse AND TALKING to the guard while he is talking and laughing WITH HER! They will never get the respect they deserve. I hope it will get better, I just scan through the videos with the guards not enforcing the new rule and watching the one who will enforce it. You see a calmer horse, the tourist stand back then come up and take their picture and move on. It's so refreshing.

I spent some time visiting zoos. This is typical behavior by people. They stick their hands in the lion’s cage. Yell at the tiger to wake up and do something. Try to feed popcorn to the deer with a cupped hand. One woman walked into the lion’s cage in NY. Her new nickname is “lunch.” Signs or yelling will not stop tourists. In fact they will be offended that they can’t pet the ‘big dog.’ So put a half height fence in front of the horse guards.
It was lovely to hear and see the lady from Hackney, she reminded me of an aunt I had, I was born in Stepney but moved to South East London when I was 10yrs old. I now live in Bexhill-on-Sea. Keep up the good work John..

Hi there. I think we need to give the guards time to settle in with the new... dont touch the horse..... Its not really that long ago the notice was put up.... dont touch the reigns.... I know they were themselves telling or shouting at times ( i love that bit) .Then on that new sign we saw .. a tiny word ... Horse squashed in ... Hopefully a clearer sign will be put in place with a large "Horse". Make sence ! John ive said before its so confusing who are the good guys to watch on here. If thers a way to find out without getting anyone into trouble, that would be good. Lovely Horses today. And a bit of shouting in background always a bonus. C from Hereford England.
Just maybe the guards have been given discretion as to whether people touch the horse DEPENDING on which steed they are on & their temperament. E.G. If they were on Ormonde or another known nipper/biter then they would not allow it for safety of the public
I've noticed when people aren't allowed to touch the horse they get their picture and seem to move on quicker and the street isn't so congested, which is a plus for people need to get where they are going without having to get in the road to pass.
I love looking at the horses and wish I could get more names. I check comments in case John or others give names but seeing all the comments complaining about horse touching gives me anxiety. Watching this must be agony for all these pearl-clutchers. Can’t you just enjoy John and the horses and leave the rule enforcing to the guards and other official people there? Your complaints have no real effect.

I never understand why tourist who don't speak the language of the place that they are visiting don't use a translation app on their phones which they are using to take all these pictures with, so they can read the signs and follow the rules .They will use the translation app to read the menu at a restaurant but not at a place that is a tourist attraction and could teach them about the history of the place where they are visiting. Also the safety rules as well.
In Hollywood they have to sign a NDA. They cannot tell you what will go on in a film. He can only guess who the next Bond might be, just like the rest of us guessing. John, might you find out from the guards why they do not remind the people not to touch the horse????
May be the guards have been given orders not to saying anything or shout anything when the ticitokers are about just looking for the reaction.. Glad the police are looking more sharper while on duty and not laughing and joking ( distracted ) but my favourite is the lady officer said it many time in here. That lady is on the ball.. :)
They need to have Ormond do a "spacial awareness" class for all the horses then we wouldn't need the signs to be the only warning. Give them a couple more bites and they might get the word.
Thinking about it, I suspect the guards were told they could use their own judgement. Like you say, some horses are more social than others. But with the signage there their butts are covered.
But it makes their command officers look stupid. Either have the rule and enforce it, or get rid of it. If you have inconsistent enforcement in the US, the rule means nothing and you’re open to lawsuits. I am pretty sure it’s the same in the UK.

When I watch the videos here and on other channels on this topic, I always think that I will never stroke the horse when I am there. But I think that if I were there, I would switch off my brain and also want to stand next to the horse and stroke it on reflex. And I'd probably stand in the way too.😁 It almost seems to me that most people stroke the horse as if it were a holy relic with healing powers. The look on their faces when they stroke them is sometimes like they've landed in heaven.😊
Right box: Zut Alors; Left box: I have it as unlisted. At the 1pm change, no ID for the horse which replaced Zut Alors in the right box (sorry, I have problems identifying horses with no foot or head markings). Left Box: Wickham replaced the Unlisted horse.
When I see all those children and their parents touching the horse it is just overwhelming. Lord knows how the guard and horse are handling it. The guard has it to tell them to stop if they don’t follow the sign
Every guard needs to enforce the "don't touch the horse rule! Period! You can't have one not doing it, and the other one does. If it's the rule the the guards need to 100% enforce the rule!
It must be quite difficult when the horse actually enjoys respectful contact with the public. The real problem seemed to be the human idiots who regard the horses as 'cuddly' things with no sense of personal space, to be touched at will. These two up to 26:31, seemed quite happy. Quite a balancing act for the riders and authorities.

It's going to take a lot more than 1 little sign to stop people touching the horses. They've been allowed to touch the horses for all these years, behavior isn't changing overnight. Unless you stick the horses behind glass, someone's touching them and the guards shouldn't be surprised at all.

Hi John. Great part 2. I don’t think that we need to criticize the guards for not speaking up. I don’t mean you John. There so many comments. It’s not up to us. We don’t know what they have been told. The trooper on the right seems to enjoy the tourists. We don’t have a name for his horse yet. I agree Lynn. This is being commenting ad nauseam. We don't know the orders they have been instructed nor is it any of our business really. And for those people that called the guards lazy or useless lumps of meat, just stop!😡

Its not really that long ago the notice was put up.... dont touch the reigns.... I know they were themselves telling or shouting at times ( i love that bit) .Then on that new sign we saw .. a tiny word ... Horse squashed in ... Hopefully a clearer sign will be put in place with a large "Horse". Make sence !
John ive said before its so confusing who are the good guys to watch on here. If thers a way to find out without getting anyone into trouble, that would be good. Lovely Horses today. And a bit of shouting in background always a bonus. C from Hereford England.
Just maybe the guards have been given discretion as to whether people touch the horse DEPENDING on which steed they are on & their temperament. E.G. If they were on Ormonde or another known nipper/biter then they would not allow it for safety of the public
I've noticed when people aren't allowed to touch the horse they get their picture and seem to move on quicker and the street isn't so congested, which is a plus for people need to get where they are going without having to get in the road to pass.

I love looking at the horses and wish I could get more names. I check comments in case John or others give names but seeing all the comments complaining about horse touching gives me anxiety. Watching this must be agony for all these pearl-clutchers. Can’t you just enjoy John and the horses and leave the rule enforcing to the guards and other official people there? Your complaints have no real effect.

I never understand why tourist who don't speak the language of the place that they are visiting don't use a translation app on their phones which they are using to take all these pictures with, so they can read the signs and follow the rules .They will use the translation app to read the menu at a restaurant but not at a place that is a tourist attraction and could teach them about the history of the place where they are visiting. Also the safety rules as well.

May be the guards have been given orders not to saying anything or shout anything when the ticitokers are about just looking for the reaction.. Glad the police are looking more sharper while on duty and not laughing and joking ( distracted ) but my favourite is the lady officer said it many time in here. That lady is on the ball.. :)
They need to have Ormond do a "spacial awareness" class for all the horses then we wouldn't need the signs to be the only warning. Give them a couple more bites and they might get the word.

I never thought,that the troopers themselves would not obey the new rules. I truly didn’t expect this, and was so happy when the new sign was put up.
Thinking about it, I suspect the guards were told they could use their own judgement. Like you say, some horses are more social than others. But with the signage there their butts are covered.
But it makes their command officers look stupid. Either have the rule and enforce it, or get rid of it. If you have inconsistent enforcement in the US, the rule means nothing and you’re open to lawsuits. I am pretty sure it’s the same in the UK.

That is exactly what I was trying to explain. It's a universal picture that needs no language translation. Then there would be NO excuses.
The Guards are now to blame for not stopping people, touching the horses. The word NO, most people understand. If you allow one person to touch then everyone follows.

When I watch the videos here and on other channels on this topic, I always think that I will never stroke the horse when I am there. But I think that if I were there, I would switch off my brain and also want to stand next to the horse and stroke it on reflex. And I'd probably stand in the way too.😁
It almost seems to me that most people stroke the horse as if it were a holy relic with healing powers.
The look on their faces when they stroke them is sometimes like they've landed in heaven.😊

When I see all those children and their parents touching the horse it is just overwhelming. Lord knows how the guard and horse are handling it. The guard has it to tell them to stop if they don’t follow the sign
Every guard needs to enforce the "don't touch the horse rule! Period! You can't have one not doing it, and the other one does. If it's the rule the the guards need to 100% enforce the rule!

It must be quite difficult when the horse actually enjoys respectful contact with the public. The real problem seemed to be the human idiots who regard the horses as 'cuddly' things with no sense of personal space, to be touched at will. These two up to 26:31, seemed quite happy. Quite a balancing act for the riders and authorities.
Zute sure is big! Makes me.wonder about q10 though. Hope is happy as lark back in his main stable.

It's going to take a lot more than 1 little sign to stop people touching the horses. They've been allowed to touch the horses for all these years, behavior isn't changing overnight. Unless you stick the horses behind glass, someone's touching them and the guards shouldn't be surprised at all.
