THis concerto is perfectly suited to the viola. the soli parts are wonderfully adapted to the features and range of this instrument for which an excellent but small literature exists.
C'est une véritable belle oeuvre du répertoire pour alto et il faut dire que Mozart appréciait Van Hall à la fois comme ami et en tant que compositeur de musiques .
There was a great genealogy: Antonín Dvořák -> Josef Suk (senior), a Czech composer, who married Dvořák's daughter, and Josef Suk (junior), who plays this concerto, is grandson of Josef Suk (senior)
@@orangeandannieftw I've meet people who have made arrangements from piano parts as well as coming close to obtain real originals but never got the chance. I think they're only for rent through some publisher in Europe.
Sublimely beautiful, it touches my soul.
There's not enough Vanhal on TH-cam! His symphones are superb.
Josef is playing a superb sounding viola superbly. Such resonant tones!
Josef Suk Wonderful Violist And Violinist.Wonderful Viola Concerto
This is probably my all time fav viola concerto out there....the viola playing is so crisp and well played....not enough thumbs for this...!!
Wonderful concerto! I love the rich sound of the viola which is reinforced by the horns at times. Warm, melodious playing by Suk.
The viola sound is very sweet!
A beautiful concerto and a wonderful performance. Thanks for posting this video.

I'm only listening to this bc I actually have to play this concert on the viola🥲
It seems to me that Suk on the first day of his birth took up the violin and began to play !!! Tepper Michael.
You are right!

Poor Vanhal, his music are great than others, but lack of information and recordings 😢
Does anyone know where to find this cadenza?
No, lack of scores and information
I would say pretty much at the end🤷
Zingy!
Sounds like Haydn Cello no1
Would anyone know where to get/purchase orchestral parts for this concerto?
Did you have any luck? I'm trying to source string quartet parts and can't seem to find them anywhere.
