Steve, Joe and Jim mentioned that Jordan Staal has four career hat tricks and two of them are against the Leafs. His first one was when he played for the Penguins.

I appreciate that he does praise the Hurricanes in this. Often when I watch "The big fan" for other teams, they treat Carolina as only winning because their own team blew it. He at least commends the Canes for having underrated players and quickly adjusting to their opponents.

Two players in NHL history have scored a hat trick at age 18 and a hat trick at 36. Both players won a Cup with the Penguins. One is Jordan Staal.
    The other is Jaromir Jagr.

👍🏻 *THANK YOU FOR _NOT_ DISPLAYING THE GAME SCORE IN THE VIDEO TITLE! * 👍🏻
I have to record the games and watch them later at night, but I have to be on TH-cam in the evenings, and normally your LFR video shows up as recommended and so many times I haven't bothered watching the game because you already told me the score (for whatever reason, it just ruins it for me). So tonight I was able to finish my stuff on TH-cam without knowing the score, then go watch the game. So thanks again, for that! 🥳

Being a Leafs fan who lives in North Carolina, I took this game in live. Despite the outcome, it was still a very exciting game to take in live, and actually the way it went down led to some awesome fan interactions with the non-leaf-fan locals.
Not great for the points total, but still great value for money.

Staal is used as an extra defenseman, which is why Rod usually puts his line out against other teams top players. It's also why Rod likes him as a captain for the team, Rod likes his forwards to have strong defense so their leader should be a hard working defensive forward.

Story time! A Bostonian and Carolinian meet each other at a bar, they aren’t too fond of each other at first, but then they remember one thing to bring them together, the fact that they both own the Leafs, they share a beer as means of celebrating their newfound friendship.
As a Leafs fan, the trauma Carolina’s inflicted on me is underrated.

@ Sure, just check out a map and google the distances. Fargo to Thunder Bay, Ontario (pop. 111K) is 7h 38 minutes. Fargo to Winnipeg, Manitoba (pop. 783K) is 3h 33 minutes. Fargo to Regina, Saskatchewan (pop. 242K) is 8h 14 minutes. Those are the three closest Canadian cities to Fargo of 100,000 population or more. (Canada has 60 cities with 100K or more people)
Fun fact: Thunder Bay has produced more NHL players (per capita) than any other city/town in the world.
When I was a kid, (50 years ago) Thunder Bay had seven indoor arenas and 100 city-run outdoor rinks every winter. Thunder Bay now has 12 sheets of indoor ice. (But not nearly so many outdoor rinks anymore. 😢)

    Possibility for the Jailbreak response:
Restraining fouls (hook trip hold etc) = 2 min minor with jailbreak
Aggressive fouls (boarding x- check etc) = 2 min MAJOR with NO Jailbreak
Majors and above stay the same
That way, the incentive to reduce the injury potential plays is increased, and they can try out the increased scoring from the talk about bringing back the 2 min major while also having the excitement about a Jailbreak.

Joe Niuwendyk was supremely underrated and my personal fav player of all time. If he never messed up his knee, his stats would have been soo much better. His first 2 seasons were 50g close to 100p before he knee went a d he changed his play style. Went on to win cups in every city he played in untill he got to Toronto sadly enough. He even has a playoff mvp under his belt and an R.O.T.Y. not bad for a dude with a shattered knee cap.

Well, the jailbreak thing is good. BUT they should allow the team with the power play to play for 2 minutes regardless of how many goals they score.
They have tried this in the Champions hockey league in Europe, and it´s fun! They also have the jailbreak rule.

So, as someone who watches a lot of PWHL games, here's what I would say about the jailbreak rule:
-Your criticism of it is based on the idea that a penalty is a punishment for the player who committed the infraction, which is only kind of true, but not really. Like, you know the bit in "Slapshot" where the French-Canadian guy is like "then you sit in the box and feel shame"? It's funny because the idea that a hockey player actually feels bad about taking a penalty is ludicrous. I certainly don't think it's ever stopped a player from committing more penalties. A penalty is primarily a punishment for their TEAM, by putting them in a disadvantageous position. And if the team is able to rise above that and actually score a goal the other way, then what is accomplished by keeping the player in the box?
-Another way of thinking about it (credit to whichever TH-cam commenter it was who said it): the jailbreak isn't a reward for the team on the PK, but a punishment for the team on the power play. If you're incompetent enough to get scored on shorthanded, you don't deserve to have the rest of the power play.
-As for "what if it's a dangerous play": if it's egregious enough, then it's a major penalty, which the jailbreak doesn't apply to; it it isn't, then there's no reason to treat one type of penalty as different from another. If they're both 2-minute penalties, then boarding is equivalent to sending the puck over the glass. Also, you could make this same argument in reverse: what if it's a ridiculously soft call? What if the ref missed a clear dive? Does the player have to sit there for the whole 2 minutes because of some BS, even when their team scores?
-As much as people talk about the jailbreak goals, they're actually very rare. This season in the PWHL, of the 134 goals scored so far, the number of shorthanded goals was *4*, less than 3%, compared to 29 power play goals, which is a little more than 21%. The numbers for the NHL are similar over a larger sample size (it's actually slightly lower for both). So, like, why even argue about something that rarely even happens?

So Staal was like his fam name suggests like “steel” against the Leafs (again 😞) and I’m starting to wonder if the hefty sum of 💰 💰 #16+#34 starts to get stale…
Which line could Marner carry and would Domi be good with Matthews again as a passer like last season? Any thoughts 💭?

According to Hockey Reference, Jordan Staal has played 50 games in his career against the Leafs.

As a Canes fan it's always bothered me a little that the Zamboni driver game is one of the very few, if not only, videos where you don't list the opponent and score.
Or at least you used to list the score, but the last few games haven't done that? What made that change?
Heck you don't even say in the Ayres video it was against Carolina :(

Steve mentioned in a recent video that they were tinkering with the title format, and that they had received a few complaints about the title spoiling the result of the game for some people. Personally I don't get people who want to watch the game afterwards thinking they can go online (especially on TH-cam) and avoid the result, but whatever. Try new things and if they don't work, so be it.

Giving the leafs a pass here as they were do for a loss . Defensively this may have been our worst game . OEL was on his off wing , a guy did a little deke to his right and he went by Oel like nothing , and scored . Matthews’s line was on for all goals . You could really see the defects when one of our main D man is out in McCabe . We gotta bounce back Saturday.

Is Morgan Reilly drunk? No. Seriously this guy is a pylon out there every night. Chris Tanev +13 -- Reilly minus 13. I know Toronto loves a defense whipping boy. I see you Justin Holl. However, the numbers do not lie, nor does the eye test. This guy needs to be healthy scratched. Has not been good enough for a very long time. Kinda looks like Ricky out there.
