He knew she was going to cry. Such an intimate couple, he was so supportive of her. Stanley Tucci plays with such warmth. Who could not love a man like that? In Devil Wears Prada, he also showed a very human side in the ruthless NYC high fashion world.
(OMG. I just realized the duo Streep/Tucci were together in both movies, playing absolutely different characters. These two are so very excellent actors.)
Now that’s a marriage. Paul went over to her knowing she would need a hug and didn’t say anything. The ability to know what your love needs and the unspoken language they both had. It’s so beautiful.
Streep is her usual gifted self here, but to me Tucci stands out. He threads the needle perfectly between being supportive and acknowledging the heartbreak. Beautiful.
Agreed. He is superb in this film - an actor so comfortable in himself he can let both Meryl and Julia shine. His adoration for both the actress and character is palpable. Their chemistry is wonderful. .
It may not have been any consolation at the time but Julia Child may not have been able to have a genetic legacy but she had a culinary and cultural legacy that is still remembered today.
@@bathrobebattousai84 Respectfully, I think they know that. I'm pro adoption, I have both an adopted aunt and uncle, and have adopted a child of my own. But it's a deep loss to know you can't produce children biologically. Even adopting children after the fact, doesn't change the loss of feeling like you've lost your child who never was (or worse, was unable to be born). Try to be understanding of this.

Her infertility also came up in the more recent show but a lot more subtley. Almost too subtley. The show made it seem like her marriage was falling apart after she found out she was going through menopause. With her trying to keep it a secret. Don't think the show even mentions the fact they were both infertile. It's just heavily implied When in reality. This is the more likely scenario.

Look how calmly and completely he supports her in such a low moment. Beautiful. ❤️
This was my favorite scene.

Julia had no children, but she certainly had many people who adored, and still adore, her.
Just this small scene and you see what a wonderful actress can do. Meryl Streep brings the emotion without overplaying the dialogue. What a treasure!

This scene is so devastating. You’re happy for others but also wish it was your turn 💔💔💔

One of the greatest moments of acting in all cinematography.
One of my favorite scenes from any movie. What a sweet marriage.
Oh, heartbreaking. They have been wonderful parents.
This movie was so beautiful and heart breaking at the same time Meryl Streep was absolutely brilliant in her role of Julia. ♥♥
He just instinctively knew when to comfort her.
These two actors are phenomenal! They were amazing in The Devil Wears Prada!
This scene never fails to make me cry.
I cried just watching this clip. I never get tired of this movie.
Weakness...or strength? She dealt with the pain with strength.
This scene is heartbreaking! I can feel it.
Such a wonderful film. As portrayed by these 2 brilliant actors, this was truly a match made in Heaven. 🌹
Goals- to get a man like Paul ❤
Yes! I feel the same way.
God I love this scene and this depiction of their love story. The way he totally understands how she’s feeling…oof…such a beautiful love story.
I feel it. Thanks for representing it
I can never forget Dan Aykroyd's portrayal of Julia on SNL. You just have to wonder how he would have done this scene.
I understand how she feels. My wife and I don't have any children either.
Adoption is an option. I was adopted and the bond I have with my parents is strong.
I'm sorry to hear that CE, it must be hard.

May God bless you. My wife and I are trying to have kids. It can be difficult when things don't go to plan. Be strong and remember to love your wife.
This was a great movie!!
Having been through fertility issues, this scene always makes me teary.
I know her pain.

I always jump to this scene
This is such a complex heartbreaking scene 💔
I would love to see this movie without the Julie bits.
Lmao
I just ff through them. I do wish we could just have MORE JULIA.
Not me. Amy Adams was incredible. I loved the two stories playing off one another.
Let me guess.. Julia Child never had a child of her own?
Nope, she never did, the fact never bothered Paul but it devastated her.
Tô de volta
Out of context, this reads like an absurd comedy
Why not just adopt?

Hi
That's sad, how come she couldn't have any kids?
She should have adopted
I have always wondered about this scene so why couldn't Julia have kids was it because of her height the face she was 6'2 ?
She could not get pregnant at all no matter how hard they work
Height does not affect someone's fertility.
Who wants fricken kids?!
It was a different time
I don't know. Maybe a couple of billion people.
Sure not a lot of people wants kids. But some still do want to start a family of their own
So, so many people. Don’t let your bitterness get in the way of empathizing with people’s heartbreak.
