BTB discusses the Jag Bar's involvement with the Coleco Chameleon Kickstarter. An inside look of what the Kickstarter would have looked like. Link to Script forums.atari.io...
We all owe you a giant thanks for making this amazing video. It's a nice look behind the scenes that Mike was really conning everyone involved with this. Best of luck in all your future work buddy!
Back around 2013/2014 I subscribed to Retro Videogame Magazine to have a hard copies sent to my house. I had been going through my research phase while I was becoming a game collector to a new level. I contacted them and never got a message back or a refunded for not delivering what I had ordered. I'm not saying this is relevant to the Coleco Chameleon console recent marketing / prototype story though but it rubbed me the wrong way. Edit: I would also note that I have used GameGavel in the past, bought and sold without any problem. That platform worked for me, and thank you for that. Just stating my experience and nothing more til time unfolds itself. As something as a project of this may have been an overwelming thing to do without any funds to start it up. But again my opinion and mine alone. I just went back to the Kickstarter and now notice a lot of people asking about not getting there issues as well til recently. Myself to state that I subbed on there website and did not fund the Kickstarters first and foremost. It seems $125,000+ was funded with both projects on Kickstarter. How much was in the project before it started on Kickstarter? www.kickstarter.com/projects/socalmike/retro-video-game-magazine-year-two/comments?cursor=12389395#comment-12389394
PROPS, considering that so many videos are out that are just ranting, this is clearly someone involved that was deceived that stepped up. this is one of the most concrete videos that puts this to rest in my opinion.
The good thing about this whole debacle is that if you want retro games, they are out there. There are tens of thousands of games made in the 8, 16 and 32/64 bit era, and I seriously doubt that anybody has played them all. Most of them are still really cheap. So just start there, you could lose lifetimes trying to play all the games that came out from the 70s till 2000.
I really appreciate that you divulged this information. Not only was Mike content with lying to all of us, and making us look like fools but he was trying to make you look like one too. Now, thanks to eagle-eyed viewers, he's the one with egg on his face. What really bothers me is that this fiasco is only going to make it harder for retro-enthused projects to get off the ground. It might just be the death knell of these sorts of projects for a good while. Very sad
it's such a shame how this all played out as I fully believed in it. there are so many quality retro titles it would of been awesome to collect those on cartridge .
Thanks for giving the true story on all of this. It's a shame that this scam bullshit happens, and it's sad that there are people, to this minute, defending this. Great video \,,/
Subscribed to you today and unsubscribed Gamester81. You did your due diligence and he didn't. I learned about this hack of a system through my sub to him, feel disgusted now and after the multitude of lies from him and Mike. I don't own a Jaguar, but maybe after checking out your channel, one day I will. Thanks for being truthful and thanks to Pat for directing me here.
+jconsolmagno This video showed us that even people who were asked to be involved were lied to. I want to give the benefit of the doubt here. I'll give Gamester81 a chance, he needs to come clean.
Personally I think both. One - get the money to actually make the product. Two - use extra money to buy party boat and sail the open seas like a pirate.
+loubilly I need to check but Im not sure I have it, it really was just rambling about the rvgs that we've all heard before, nothing new, just that the new system would be even better.
After seeing your video I had to speak out for a good reason. It's funny that I fell for this crap but what's even funnier is that I watched all the promo videos for this product and it never once stated in kickstarter videos that this would have true retro systems on cart's as comp cart's. Funny that because I was so enthused with product I sent these guys emails of ideas for this system know what the product board was capable of. And as a bolt from the heaven, I watch this video and I could not believe what I was hearing from the statement release! I still have all the emails to back up what I say...... I give credit for effort though, there is an idea here just now the name and shell are slightly tarnished.
Wow! I for one was excited for this back when it was the RetroVGS and then when it was the Coleco Chameleon. To see all this is infuriating. Im a huge fan of the coleco brand. I would have bought this just to support them. To see that I could have been duped with a snes jr makes me feel outraged. Thankfully the retro community stopped them from making idiots of us all
The rabbit hole just keeps getting deeper and weirder. Wow. This whole thing project was five alarm crazy cuckoo for coconuts insane from the get-go. How did it get this far? It's dead now, and I suppose that's all that matters.
Thanks for coming out with this new information about the Kick Starter and Mike Kennedy. It proves that Mike Kennedy is a con Artist and nothing but a liar and could not tell the truth if his life depended on it. I think with all the information that Pat and Ian has given in their Pod cast and the other TH-camrs like Picky old gamer and Leo DS and the pictures of the various con artist prototypes I feel that we should submit it to Kick Starter so they can put a stop to this before it gets started.
+Daniel Tittyfish Actually Pat and I had been talking behind the scenes before all this went down. But Im sure he was glad I came out with the info and made it public.
Brian Thomas Barnhart my point being that Mr nes punk already gets a lot of mileage out of this topic. I guess reviewing games is nowhere near as entropic as he originally thought........go figure.
I just can't believe how much of a farce this whole thing became, it never seemed like a good idea but I'm sure it would have appealed to some people. I'm not really sure what happened behind the scenes and I'm sure that the project started off as a genuine endeavor, but Mike should have known that lying to people wasn't the way to go. You can't be dishonest out there, especially when it involves people's money.
+partsman26able It's sad because at the heart of this we all love retro games, thats why we're here... But this is like watching a train wreck, and it didn't have to be.
Wow Brain just wow thanks so much for this. This has to be the end for this, I the jaguar molds will go back into storage or sold and that will be that. I wonder how far they really got ? Do they have anything to show or was it all smoke and mirrors
+Gabriele Riva "Call to arms" "The script says call to action" But I guess I said it wrong. here is the script full forums.atari.io/index.php/topic/1347-coleco-chameleon-formerly-retro-vgs/page-14
thanks for making this video Brian. I was holding my support for this system even though it started to become obvious of what it was. with this video and the fact they are hiding comments on fb. I think I'm done. it just reeks of Mike K. wanting to make a quick buck. Anyways when are you going to make that Nba Jam video. I have been waiting patiently :). keep up the good work!!
Wow he even bullshits his camera guy. 7:30 “When video games looked like video games” That’s like complaining that we don’t use stop motion for movie effects anymore when CGI creates a far more believable product. Also you can impulsively grab a $60 game. impulse-buying on Steam just means you’re out less money. And cartridges are outdated. If I use a CD and take care of it, that CD will last a long time. With a cartridge meanwhile my gaming experience can be ruined by dust. And unlimited continues being bad? I’m sorry what? Limited continues and saves were used at a time when arcades were big and they all wanted to eat your money. Now there is no good reason to not be able to pick your game up where you left off after doing homework or running an errand. It’s like he got the absolute worst out of 90s Kid Syndrome, complaining about technology that either still exists or is far superior than in the past.
The idea is kinda weird.. you can use any cheap chinese board as a platform and solder a custom cartridgeslot and solder an sdcardslot to the cartridge contacts... and there you have it. The idea is pretty much fail from the beginning?
+Nik Neue I think it was ALL ideas and no prototype. Then start a kickstarter campaign to actually make it with the funds. Cart before the horse, or in this case - Shell before the board.
Has Mike ever thought to talk to a psychiatrist? He needs to take something. All this time and the only thing they have done with this project is shove an SNES into a Jaguar shell. Do you know how hard the duct tape job was. Lol! Oh they also shoved a capture card board into a Jaguar shell too. Is this a game of"What can we shove into a Jaguar shell?!". Mike has given us the knowledge that an SNES and a capture card board fit inside of a Jaguar shell! Congratulations Mike! -_-
Good move, history is full of campaigns for things that never existed and you noticed the warning signs. While I think the push was a scam definitely I mostly think Mike was a moron because eventually he'd have to deliver something which he couldn't.
I don't get the hate from the retro game community about the Jaguar shell; it's a decent looking design and it was only the CD attachment that made it look like a child potty. Besides, the N64 shell looks similar to the Atari Jaguar and I never heard complaints about that. This campaign, on the other hand, is flat out a laugh riot at best and insulting at worst. Still no working prototype after they pulled their Indiegogo page? Honestly, I hope Mike Kennedy will go through this campaign so we can continue to laugh at this vaporware.
only 4k views... seems like the people who would be interested in the coleco device (the people who actually looked up the information on this whole situation) aren't that many to begin with....still its real shady that they would ask you to be a part of basically a giant lie.
BTB is far to loyal to Atari to be scammed, or take part in any Tom foolery ! OK i am still waiting for a new jag bar game this month ! Btw my ebay Jag cd doesnt work :(((

+Pat the NES Punk Well you really set the stage, thanks man.
+Brian Thomas Barnhart Yes thank you Brian.
thanks for your honest experience with this situation...nice to see someone somewhat from the inside being honest about what's going on.

Thanks for sharing that with us, Brian. Really shows how out of control this was from all angles.
thank you for sharing brian, sorry you got partially roped into this.
I'm so sorry that you went through that for nothing, Brian... I'm just glad you got out when you did.
+Rivalseeker It's ok, no harm here. It's amazing it got this far out of control.
a big thanks for coming forward with your side of this complete mess. you sir are a star.
Your story is important. And another piece to this crazy puzzle.
what sorcery is this?! the dog vanished in mid air! xD
+galax my cat overlord wont let me to have one
+Karmacuarius Ha ha.
+Karmacuarius PANIC!!!
+Karmacuarius Look close at that dog. It's actually a super nintendo housed in a dog shell.
Ninjamohawk LOL!
Thanks for the honesty and transparency.
I don't know how it must be to get to understand you had been part of a scam and you never wanted to. You're a great person Mr Barnhart ! :D
Thanks for your honesty Brian

Thanks for your insight, BTB. This whole situation is a big disappointment.
PROPS,
considering that so many videos are out that are just ranting,
this is clearly someone involved that was deceived that stepped up.
this is one of the most concrete videos that puts this to rest in my opinion.
+Nelson Aperson Thanks so much, I really sat on this for a while but after the last DVR incident I had to say something.
Thanks for the video, your passion and of course being an old-school gamer with some info about this for the public. Much appreciated.
It's probably wise you backed away from this project. Very interesting hearing that Kickstarter video script as well.. wow. Thanks for sharing.
Kudos to you for posting this.
Great video, I had no idea about any of this but it's rather fascinating
Great video. Fair play to you for taking the time to explain it all.
5 members of the RVGS,inc team have submitted their dislikes.

+TheRosswise Very true. I know exactly where to play them if I need my fix, lots of great classic options.
I really appreciate that you divulged this information. Not only was Mike content with lying to all of us, and making us look like fools but he was trying to make you look like one too. Now, thanks to eagle-eyed viewers, he's the one with egg on his face.

Very sad

it's such a shame how this all played out as I fully believed in it. there are so many quality retro titles it would of been awesome to collect those on cartridge .
A real mess, but I think there is still parts of this story to be told.
agree for example double dragon 4 out wouldn't it be great to have that game on a cart.
This was great. Thanks so much for sharing.
+Jake Dooley (Super Retro Bros.) Thanks so much, crazy story for sure.
Pat brought me here. Good looking channel.
+Vladimir Haljkevic Thats great! Welcome aboard.
Why have I not seen a video with you commenting on the new atari? Should I pass on this thing or not?
Great video - great info. Thanks so much!
These guys are toast. It's over for these guys.
They really fucked this up.
Glad there are whistle blowers in this controversy.
Thank you Brian! Wish it didnt turn out this way
+Samuryan It's a sad situation, and it didn't have to be. One lie turned into many and then it was just to late to stop it.
+Brian Thomas Barnhart Very sad indeed, but integrity is worth more than money
Thanks for giving the true story on all of this. It's a shame that this scam bullshit happens, and it's sad that there are people, to this minute, defending this. Great video \,,/
Absolute insanity! This whole train wreck is like beige watching a new show on Netflix. I can't stop!!
Even the dog looked devistated. I am looking at my history over the last year. I hope your life is over this, and this comment finds you well.
Subscribed to you today and unsubscribed Gamester81. You did your due diligence and he didn't. So Mike he just palnning to generate money from the KS and just keep it or was he going to try to actually make something eventaually?
Personally I think both. One - get the money to actually make the product. Two - use extra money to buy party boat and sail the open seas like a pirate.
shots fired 🔥
Hey jag bar have you seen the recently revealed footage of Conan on the Atari Jaguar? looks GORGEOUS,give it a watch.
Thank you for sharing!
thanks for making this
I got to.say I never expected this xD
It is like Scooby Do and Shaggy were trying to con us!
I think it would have been less complicated for the company to actually make the product they were saying they were going to make.
Pretty amazing stuff. Only halfway through the video. hope you can post the edited out rvgs component at some stage
+loubilly I need to check but Im not sure I have it, it really was just rambling about the rvgs that we've all heard before, nothing new, just that the new system would be even better.
Were you sent here by the Devil? No, good sir, I'm on the level.

I really think this video footage should be mirrored, someone is gonna take it down.

Aww, the dog is so cute! ^^

What kind of dog is that? Lhasa apso?
+cbn620 Yorkie poo
The Yorkie poo is also clearly saddened by the story. I can see disappointment in his/her eyes.
It's a very good looking dog. My dog is half Lhasa and half shih-tzu and looks very similar so that's why I guessed Lhasa.
Yorkie-Poo
What was the super nintendo fiasco?
just upload what you edit'ed out!
Was the disappearing dog a metaphor for any credibility Mike Kennedy had?

I don't get the hate from the retro game community about the Jaguar shell; it's a decent looking design and it was only the CD attachment that made it look like a child potty. Besides, the N64 shell looks similar to the Atari Jaguar and I never heard complaints about that.

+duhmez I dunno, I've seen many posts that expressed the dislike for the shell during these campaigns due to the Jaguar being a failed console.

Currently at 12 fake TH-cam accounts that Mike Kennedy created to "thumbs down" this video...
dont we do this already with our computer? lol i do. emulator and bluetooth controllers DURRRRR HURRRRR
+joalwray Yep - Raspberry Pi for gaming... you could have at least put that inside.

how can anyone support these con artists.....
I am surprised they were not Chinese.
