    I think it would be beneficial to mention that if maximum speed in a straight line is desired, shooting at the front of the canoe will keep you traveling straighter, allowing you to put extra effort into building speed. Only had to use this when storms were rolling in, but still handy to know.

    Cool stuff Clay. All these paddle Strokes look familiar from my time on the water growing up & living here in the lake country of Minnesota, but I never knew the technical terms for them. Fun to watch a well done, how to video on the subject of canoeing. I love what you're doing at Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, hope to learn more and get involved in promoting positive outdoor ethics in my neck of the woods. Take care... David.

    Is that the Freeman Creek boat launch? I just got done working as a seasonal fisheries technician at Dworshak Reservoir with Idaho Fish & Game. I've caught bass in that exact spot there.

    And the more you get familiar with it all you will soon find you are putting the paddle in the water and without conscious thought you're doing the strokes and adding more to it, without having to think about it. It just happens.
