    Great video. The ultimate issue with sphagnum moss and peat moss is the process of how its obtained. If farmed effectively and in a better ecological way, then we wouldn’t have the environmental problems affiliated with it. Its a great medium, but I only utilize the resource for my bog/carnivores gardens.
    The progress youve made with those plants! Sheesh! Great stuff!

      Thanks for watching! And totally agree. I was very skeptical before using it and tried to do all the research I could. I only use it when I absolutely need to but it produces great results for me when I need it. 🌿

    Hi I’m a relatively new plant mom 🌱💚 I was wondering what the negatives would be if you left some of the moss attached to the roots before putting in soil. My guess is that it might retain too much moisture and lead to root rot, but please correct me if I’m wrong! Thanks so much 😊

      Hi Lexi! I apologize for such a delayed response but I love this question! I was worried that the moss would hold too much moisture as you said but some people do pot it with most of the moss still on the roots! I think it comes to personal preference 😊

    Why do you have to take all the moss out what if you leave them what happens ?

      It’s no issue if you leave the moss on. I personally just wanted to take it all off because it CAN make the roots stay moist (which overtime could lead to root rot). I personally did it just to have the full root system in soil. Personal preference ☺️

    There’s a video on here by Gardner Scott called “coco coir vs peat the ugly truth” something along those lines. It does a pretty decent job in bringing up the serious problem with supporting coco coir. The conditions in which those people work are akin to slavery. Truly.
    It’s important that people gain full understanding of how each product is obtained before making conjectures about what is and isn’t ethical/sustainable.

      I totally agree which is why I did a little research before using the moss. I will definitely go check that video out now!

      @@lifeofroselle8389 I should clarify that one mans video isn’t research either lol. But it is a jumping off point. Thanks for being receptive and for the response! ❤️

    Really well put together video! I've got some massive cutting in sphagnum & we're on day 5. I'm just wondering how often you watered the moss & how you went about it. Did you spray/mist the moss or just dump in a cup of water and pour out the excess? Not sure how often I should be watering but thinking once a week might be enough. Also, how are your cuttings holding up?

    • @lifeofroselle8389
      @lifeofroselle8389  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With moss I don’t always go by length of time before I watered, I would go by how the moss looks. You want it to stay moist (not soaking wet but not too dry). When it’s wet it’ll be a darker brown. So when the top would get dry I would mist it but if the bottom started to get dried out I would actually put water in it. I didn’t always dump the excess water out unless it was just a LOT of extra water. I also had it in clear containers so I could keep an eye on it! ☺️

    Are there holes in the Peat moss pots at the bottom?

    • @lifeofroselle8389
      @lifeofroselle8389  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No holes! I wanted the soil to remain damp in order to hold in more moisture and help the roots grow faster.

    Aren't those pots too big?

    • @lifeofroselle8389
      @lifeofroselle8389  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! The pots actually worked out perfect. I wanted to get them slightly bigger so that I could keep the moss moist for longer amounts of time and not have to check as frequent for watering it. Definitely personal preference there but that’s my reasoning (:

    • @loganhatch
      @loganhatch ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I suppose you could have any size pot you want if you’re watering habits are correct the specific pot size.
