Letters to Milena by Franz Kafka (12) Dream a little, Dream of me

Kafka had passed through major crises in his life. Much to his father's dismay, he had twice broken his engagement to Felice Bauer, and again to his father's disapproval, he was still involved with Julie Wohryzek. He often went away on Tuberculosis cure and in the spring of 1920, he traveled to Meran where he wrote the first letters to Milena that have survived. What began as a business correspondence soon started to consume his sleep, as he noted in a letter to Max Brod in May 1920.
