Hello. Great video and to the point. I had to look into this topic because my dji avata did something odd today. I finally had time to use my drone after having it stored for about 6 months. Upon unpacking it i made sure to fully update everything on all devices. I did a test flight outdoors and realized that my drone couldn't even fly from one side of my to the other and even on top of my house without losing a significant amount of signal strength. It went down to 1 and 2 mb strength. This was really odd because 6 months ago i was able to fly above and my house perfectly fine and even fly far away across my neighborhood. The updates i did must have messed with my drones signal somehow. I do live in the us and i do see the manual mode for is available. I will try the 40hz setting and hopefully this helps. Oh and here is another odd thing. Even when i have my drone right next to me the signal strength is around 5 mb. So odd. It should be around 50 mb right next to me
I am having the same result sadly, I get about 300-400m and signal drops significantly although I should be in FCC mode. Seriously contemplating returning for a refund.
Thanks, mate! Had the same tree problem as you mentioned in the beginning and thought about returning them as with this limitation it's basically impossible to make good FPV shots. Just installed the Beyond software and it works like a charm! Live saver! Love the dreamy look in your vid!

I just bought the avata, placed an sd card in my goggles with the fcc hack into it but I am not able to access the channel mode since it is locked at auto. Any solutions to make the FCC work?
DJI released firmware version v01.01.0200 on September 14th. "Optimized flight safety" is the only point mentioned in the changelog. Who wants to give it a try, if this hack still works with this version? ;)
Am wondering just how long it will be before DJI either disables this hack or addresses the problem in their own way. I always find it amazing that problems like this are not resolved before product launch.
It's mind blowing how they seem to turn a blind eye to it, I wouldn't mind if the range actually got close to the stated 2km CE zone spec but it's nowhere near. At least they seem to be okay with the hack, it's been posted all over their forum and they don't seem to care 🤷🏻♂️
@@CraigPitts They are, of course, legally bound only to supply kit with a transmission power within the EU stipulated levels but with the avata is is incredibly bad and removes any possibility of flying within a building seemingly without a clear line of sight. Had already installed this hack before seeing your video and yet to test but will do so possibly today. Unlike other dji drones there is no real way to check if FCC is enabled.
The video transmission problem with Avata is not because of DJI mistake , they're forced by law to limit power to absurdly low values in EU. The 2km applies to a radio transmission (I mean controlling your drone), not a video signal - video needs much more data (transmission power). In my opinion this "hack" was so easy to discover and implement because DJI did it on purpose, so they are not breaking law, and users will discover this quickly and can easily unlock the full potential of their drones.
@@Kamil_Mark is this the same procedure when removing the NFZ? when i did my fpv, the place apparently doesnt have one listed for the avata yet so just curious where to get one
does this work on the goggles v2 (not the new one) as i fly other fpv drone with air units and vistas with a hack to fcc mod on the goggles and i dont want to mess that up with another hack on the goggles. what do you think ?
Not sure mate I don't have the older goggles, I think it does but it might be worth checking. In any case it's not a hack that affects anything system wise so you won't damage anything
Teeny weeny point....like you I called it the Ah-vah-tar .....but its actually the pronounced av-ah-tar .... avatar ...like the movie . Looking into hacking it myself as getting red horizontal lines on thd video footage.

I guess its to late for me this date and my drone but i will have a look when i have the time
Testing this i can say its a huge performance in the video feed, but i dont notice any difference in range...

No it shouldn't do, it's not actually affecting how the drone functions

You just delete the file off the sd card in the goggles and then reset them I believe 👍🏻
@@CraigPitts you have to reset your goggles to factory settings.
You know what is crazy, I'm in the U.S. and was stuck in CE mode (1 Channel). I had to use the hack as well. I think I'm not alone either.
You’re not. Mine is also in CE mode in the USA.

You just remove the file from the SD card and reset the goggles I believe

yes it does work on the v2 goggles, tried and tested..
what there needs to be is a hack to let you use two motion controllers at once to add in more maneuverability

The only bad thing about Beyond is that you must hack almost every flight or battery. It will be nice if this was permanent hack.
I got the air 2 at about 320 metres it crashes and returns to home. I'll never buy dji again.
