I put this on Lydia’s comment section before too-Laura from Garden Answer is fantastic. She’s such a joy to watch-she’s in the Pacific NW but much she does applies-vegetables, greenhouse, flower cutting garden, moonlight garden, fairy garden, tree removal, chicken coop, planters that are so gorgeous. Her parents own a garden center-she knows her stuff.

You should definitely look into getting your existing greenhouse fixed! It’s environmental friendly to get the existing one fixed rather then getting a new one. It looks beautiful and I’m sure can be fixed quicker!! Also, great idea of using egg cartons as seed starters! Love love your fur babies!

Gardens and composts love "brown" items from homes like corrugated cardboard, "loo roles" and newspapers. All of your boxed packages if the cardboard is right can be helpful for your gardens and reduce your waste :)

The new white carpet on the floor must feel lovely under your bare feet. Can't understand how you managed so long without it. And it adds a softer dimension to the room and muffles sound too. A great addition.
It is a man thing Josie, I always have to ‘plant the seed’ sometimes years ahead and one day my husband suggests an idea and gets all enthused, thinking it was his idea all along. They are quite predictable really, I am glad it is not just me.

Loving the garden content 🌻 Regarding the greenhouse - would it be more convenient in the garden nearer the veg beds? Easy to transplant seedlings from greenhouse to growing bed. Could make it in to a parterre (you previously mentioned having to rebuild some beds) with the greenhouse as a feature to build around. What about a summerhouse on the concrete block instead? Can’t wait to see further garden adventures 🌱
Tactics with hubby definitely work! Lots of praise and encouragement works like a charm! Looking forward to seeing your green house it will be beautiful! An orangery would also be lovely. A summer house or an area for morning coffee or afternoon tea with friends in the garden would be nice. Green house is such a great idea for temperate countries. You can have flowers and plants too. I planted coriander, basil, salad, choy sum seeds 3 weeks ago on my birthday. I planted them in eggs carton. I live in Asia, in an apartment - small space. I hope the temperature works for me. I like to plant more herbs, looking to buy. Love to see how your seedlings grow! :) I have also made my husband switch from Nespresso capsules to recycle-able capsules.

Just paused at 32.09 to say that I have the same pen. 😊 I have two from our trip to London, when we stayed at The Langham. They are my favorite pens. I also loved the part where you spoke about the plans you have for your garden. I’d love to grow some of my own vegetables some day.

Josie and Charlie my Grandmother had beautiful flowers she also used coffee grounds. Her favorite thing was using cracking eggs shells, place shells in a quart jar snd add water to the top of the jar. After 2-3 weeks the water would be drained and used to water flowers. I believe crushed eggs heels would be great compost. Grandmother would be delighted for you to try her tip for beautiful flowers. Don’t forget to check out White’s Flower Farm on line. They have extremely high quality plants. Their catalog gives information specific to each plant in detail.

Thank you for the loo roll planting tip. I have been fashioning them, like you, and will plant my veggie and flower seeds in them. I know I have heard about this before but can't remember when...? Always appreciate any gardening tips. They are the best! So excited for Spring! The daffodils and tulips are popping up and my cherry trees have started to blossom. Look into winter sowing seeds in containers. You use milk jugs or large plastic clear bottles as miny green houses to start your seeds outside. I am trying this myself this year.

You're green house will still function, so enjoy it. Once Charlies new shed is done you can organize it and make it look pretty.

I actually don't think your roof idea was silly. Rather than using it in the way you were suggesting, you could look into some more permanent options to convert it to a 'living roof', it just depends if you have draining or not - plants would certainly 'pretty-up' the space.
I think the issue will come with the listed status of the house. If structural alterations are required that could be a planning nightmare 😫
Josie, if you put your greenhouse against the hedge you need to consider how much light you'll lose as that will affect the growth of any plants/seedlings in there. Also think about the orientation of your garden and where the greenhouse will get maximum light for the majority of the day. Also have you thought about growing green beans? They are usually very successful. I grew mine in planters with bamboo canes to support them. x

I organised my seeds in a nice wicker basket that I already had. Then I bought on Amazon some zipped clear wallets and put the seed packets into separate ones, then divided the wallets into months, with month tabs sticking up, if that makes sense, like a filing cabinet... so each month I go and take that months wallets of seeds to plant, so nothing gets forgotten....
Josie and Charlie you have both learnt so much about gardening since this vlog! I’m just starting my kitchen garden so I’m going through all your gardening vlogs to get some idea’s! Ready to get my diary tomorrow and have done an online order for seeds! 😂 this may be the start of something great or my biggest failure!? 😆 🤷♀️ but I’m getting some great ideas from all your tips and tricks 💝
