For sure I really like the lights and having the softbox. I also added some 800d rgb panel lights from gvm just for the portability. I’m also looking into some monolights but they’re kinda pricey so I won’t be buying them all at once.
Good video I just completed the Digital Cinematography program this past October. I find it funny they went back to the Westcott lighting kit you are lucky cause you got the new bulbs I had the old school bulbs and they sucked they got very hot and if you didn't let them cool they would break. I would have preferred the Neewer lighting kit as they can use batteries I ended up ordering the bulbs you have now which work amazing. I do recommend ordering a gray card which will help with white balance and creating your presets with "a" and "b". I also recommend getting a boom stand for the shot gun mic as it will help in some of the future classes getting clean audio. I am now currently starting my Masters degree program with Full Sail in New Media Journalism so I will get a new launch box in about three weeks looking forward to new gear. I wish you the best on your journey at Full Sail and hit me up if you have questions I will be happy to help. Again good luck I really enjoy Full Sail great school and you will enjoy it too.
Yeah they had to switch back to the wescott ones because there was a shipping issue with them. The lights were shipping from China causing a lot of people to not receive them on time with everything going going on, so they had to switch to an American company unfortunately. I think the neewer ones would have been awesome also because of the portability. I been looking into the neewer set and a set from gvs I may just mix the two up, one main light from gvs and two neewer ones. I been looking into a gray card to I know they’re all basically the same lol but any recommendations, some may be better quality compared to others Idk. Also what kinda mic boom do recommend, I’ve been looking into one of those also, but I wasn’t sure on that either since I also have a zoom h4n pro and a rode video mic pro. It’s kinda an odd set up with those two so I might have to make one and buy one for the Sony. How are you liking the new media journalism masters program? FX6 is advertised at 15 stops of dynamic range like thats now beyond film. I still wish 3D took off more , im not into having super clarity thats still in 2d.
