Hey mate!! Super informative video. Still haven’t made my mind up on wether i should buy a ledger nano s or a tangem card. On one hand i prefer the simplicity tangem offers but on the other hand, i prefer the privacy and reputation of ledger! Thanks for the detailed explanations. Really useful for people getting in the crypto world just now!🙌🏼
Hey Kai! I have a question about USDT on the Nexo platform. I’ve read that it might get delisted because it’s not MiCA-compliant. I’m considering converting my USDT into USDC and moving it to my Ledger for now, so I can wait and see what happens with both Nexo and USDT without being too affected. I'd like to take some precautions. Thank you!
Thanks a lot. I don't think so to be honest. Before when I had EUR income to Revolut I would have used Revolut X, even though I think Nexo Pro might also be cheaper or at least on par, but now I mostly send USD to OKX which is cheaper than Revolut X due to tighter spreads and from there send it to Nexo for interest. Cheers
Hi kai! Thanks for the video. Is there a minimum amount of BTC storage in an exchange (e.g Nexo) you would recommend to move to a hardware wallet? I have some BTC but honestly don’t think i’m still at the level of getting a hardware wallet.
Hi Ana, super happy to hear that 🙌 Great question, I think it depends on your situation. If your net worth is $1m then you can easily leave $50K on the exchange. If your total portfolio is $10K then I would consider moving it from anything more than $1K so I think it's more relative to your own portfolio size and how painful it would be if you were to loose the entire amount. Hope that makes sense but yea generally for anything less than $1K even up to $5K I think you could live without the extra step of the wallet but again, up to you 😉 Cheers
can you explain some tax implications? For example in germany you have to pay income tax on the daily interest payments. Also, I believe that every swap (even within nexo itself) is a taxable event, so the capital gains for every exchange will need to be declared and taxed. Can you explain these topic, maybe by comparison between germany and UAE and USA or something like that?
Great question. Tax implications can indeed vary a lot depending on the country. For example, in Germany, you're right that daily interest payments are subject to income tax, and swaps (even within platforms like Nexo) are typically considered taxable events for capital gains. In contrast, the UAE has no personal income tax, so interest or capital gains aren't taxed here. In the US, daily interest would be taxed as ordinary income, and swaps could trigger capital gains taxes unless it's within a tax-advantaged account. But as I am not a tax expert I do not want to share half knowledge around that topic so I leave it to subject matter experts. Cheers
Hey Kai, thanks for the informative videos you post. I was wondering if you could also help us out with some information on how much tax we need to pay on profits from the stock market or Bitcoin in Lithuania and maybe other place too.
Hi and thanks a lot 🙌 In Lithuania, profits from stocks and Bitcoin are taxed at 15% as capital gains. By comparison: Germany: Stocks held over a year and crypto gains held over a year are tax-free; otherwise, taxed at ~26%. USA: Short-term gains (held ≤1 year) taxed as income (10-37%), long-term gains at 0%, 15%, or 20%. UAE: No personal income tax, so no taxes on capital gains. But always check with a tax professional for the latest updates. Cheers
Hello, mr. Kai! I learned about Nexo from you and now I use this platform. Why don't you keep money in USD on Nexo? As I understand it’s possible here and the interest rate also attractive. And maybe it will be interesting for you to create video about most easily ways to convert crypto into fiat (if you don’t have one). Thank you!
Thanks for the comment and support, much appreciated 🙌 I actually prefer keeping funds in USDT over USD on Nexo because of the higher interest rates offered on stablecoins. Plus, USDT can be easily exchanged back to USD when needed, so I don’t see much downside in holding USDT instead. Cheers
I have a little bit of crypto that is now showing a nice % return. BTC is in £, is there a benefit to buying in $ though? Also, I don't get the drivers of crypto. At least with the conventional stock market, you can have an educated guess as to what stocks could do and which markets ie tech could see a boom!
Great to hear you're seeing returns on your crypto! Regarding BTC in £ versus $, there's no real financial benefit to holding in one currency over the other-it’s just a display preference. It's like buying a coffee. It's up to you which currency use to buy it, you'll get the same coffee 😉 Since Bitcoin’s value is global, its price in any currency is adjusted based on exchange rates. If you live in the UK, keeping it in £ might make things simpler for tracking your portfolio against your local economy. As for crypto drivers, you're right-unlike stocks tied to company performance, crypto doesn’t follow traditional valuation metrics. Its price is often influenced by factors like market sentiment, adoption rates, regulation, and macroeconomic trends (e.g., inflation or monetary policy). It’s less predictable but tends to move with cycles-bull markets often coincide with technological developments or increasing institutional interest, while bear markets can result from over-leverage, regulatory crackdowns, or lack of demand. Hope this helps. Cheers
Ah, ok, got ya. And if you don't have your crypto in a crypto wallet, does that mean that it is unsafe, from possible mining? Reckon it's still worth jumping in now to buy further BTC? Thanks @SmartMoneywithKai
Great question! If your crypto is on an exchange, it's generally less secure than in your own wallet. The biggest risk isn’t mining but losing access if the exchange gets hacked or freezes withdrawals. Using a wallet-especially a hardware one-gives you full control. As for buying more BTC, no one can predict the future. That’s why I always suggest dollar-cost averaging (DCA). It’s a smart way to build your position gradually, reducing the risk of buying at a bad time while staying in the game long-term. Cheers
Thanks. Will look into the wallet. I buy regularly on T212, weekly and daily for S&P. Monthly on another platform. Ideally would be good to buy as and when markets hit a low, but that means manual on HL platform and mpre costly. @SmartMoneywithKai
Disclaimer: Very new to the crypro world So the only reason you buy usdt is for the interest? Because otherwise i don't understand why to buy it if its the same as usd
Hi, great question and welcome to the world of Crypto 🙌 Yes, you could say that’s the main reason. I get high interest and it’s very liquid and can easily be turned back into USD. However more and more you can also use USDT to buy things. It’s like the oil that keeps the crypto markets running smoothly 😉 But of course it does come with platform risk and de-pegging risk in case of issues with Tether the company. But for now I am ok with the risk given the higher interest. Hope this helps. Cheers
@@SmartMoneywithKai Hi Kai, maybe you can make a video explaining the risks associated with investing in USDT. Warenings about investing in USDT are spreading all over the internet, and personally I still cant fully understand where are these risks coming from. Thanks
Hi, not sure why you’d call it a scam just because of the interest rate? Nexo generates interest by lending Bitcoin to others at a higher rate and passing a portion of that back to the lenders-it's a pretty standard practice, similar to what banks have been doing for years. Nexo has been operating successfully with this model for a long time. That said, I always emphasize in my videos that platforms like Nexo are risky. Just like Celsius, FTX, and others, they can collapse. But let's not forget-banks and brokers have failed too. It’s all about understanding the risks. For me, with the current crypto bull market, I’m okay taking this risk and earning the extra interest. But if the market turns bearish, I’ll definitely move my funds back to my hardware wallet. Always weigh the risks and make decisions that fit your risk tolerance and financial goals.
