      @@terrybrown8292 I had a 14 year span where I was unable to ride. Hardest time in my life! But yes, I am back to riding and loving every mile I can put on two wheels. I've got 4 bikes to choose from from the little CB350F to my Behemoth GL1800 Goldwing to the CB550F and for cruising, the Yamaha 1100 Classic V-Star. Love them all and ride them all when ever I can. With the weather starting to change, it's time to start thinking about putting the bikes into storage and settling in to the 4 wheel travel thing. Thanks for your kind words and good luck with the settling in to the new place! Cheers! See you on the next one! Zip~

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are 16x6.5x8 Tri Rib tires and yes, they're costly, but super cool. They're a direct install on the wider Garden Tractor front 8" rims. You do need to be aware of the back spacing as some available 8" rims bring the wheel too close to the axle and they will rub on these old Simplicity Tractors. Standard, they have a 4.00x8 and you can also get that size in Tri Rib or Agricultural. Cheers! Zip~

    Putting less air in the outside tires is a great idea, so now, when I pull with my duals on the outside tires will grab better because they have less air, and that will really break my axle

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true as I mention around the 11:45 time stamp. Lower pressure in the outers will greatly reduce the risk of axle tube damage. Thanks for stopping by Charlie! Zip~

    • @charliekirsch8051
      @charliekirsch8051 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My point was that lower air pressure gives you more traction, so if you are pulling hard, then the duals will grab better than the inners, so the axle will be flexed a lot, but I do agree with you if it's just a show tractor that doesnt pull. Btw thanks for the reply, I wasent expecting that

    Pretty much any Garden Tractor wheel will as long as the off set is not too shallow. Otherwise, the tires would rub the fenders. I've got wheels from John Deeres, Cubs, Wheel Horses and Sears and they all fit. Thanks for stoppin in! Cheers!!

    do a video of locking the diff and show how the steering is i have a locked wheelhorse the steering SUCKS lol. Love how that landlord looks

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got videos up on both subjects ls. They're in my "What to look for when buying" series. FYI, when you lock the rear differential, you're loosing steer ability because both wheels are pushing the tractor forward and since neither has any give, when you try to turn one way or the other, the back wheels over power and cause the front to just slide. To over come this, the front axle needs locked and the steering angles need changed so that as you steer, it alters the amount of pressure on the opposite rear wheel so it will slip slightly over the ground. Look up steering angles on locked differentials and give a couple articles a read. It's got nothing to do with your steering so much as your locked differential and current steering angles and pivoting front axle. Zip~

    I owned a 1970 Wheel Horse 800 Special for YEARS and worked that thing to the bone. They're tough old tractors and right up there with Simplicities, Cubbies and the old Sears. Real workers and not just glorified riding mowers. I say, if the price is right, go for it! Any vintage Garden Tractor is better than none! Unless it's a John Queer. (Ducking...I'm sure that'll go over well with the Green Lovers out there!! lol) If you pick it up, throw a vid up of it. There's one of my WH on my page!

    great tips on running duals. I had a set of duals on my SS14 Suburban (duals kit from miller tire) than I got a set of 26x12x12 and put on the Suburban. I like them both equally but I could not fit my mower deck with the duals but with the 26's I can fit the mower deck, BUT I could only raise it 2 notches up, but that setup works for me so I kept the 26's and gave 500password the dual kit so he can put it on his Sears wrecker project. I was curious to what are your front rims and tire size you have on your Landlord? I've watched your video and you say how big you can get them and referenced Biggie Rat, but I was just wondering the size you have. I really like the look of the front and was just getting ready to order front tires. Thanks Zippo

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      16x6.5x8 Firestone Tri-Rib. Only Millertire.com sells them on line and be prepared...they're not cheap. The wide wheels depend on what model and type of tractor you're mounting them on. But you want a rim with a bead to bead measurement that is a minimum of 4.5". The off set on the wheels you need can be as vast as the types of tractors out there, so I would first source wheels and test fit them to make sure you have enough back spacing so the tires won't interfere with anything. Best of luck! Zip~

    You would need a set of narrow rims to mount the 6x12 tires. With your current wheels, you could mount 23x8.5x12 agricultural tires with no modifications and they would work as well if not better than the 6x12 tires you are referencing in my video. Hope this is helpful! Cheers!

    Hi Mz!! Best thing to do is keep a check on ebay for Allis Chalmers and Simplicity Hood Bolts. They're all the same except for the very early ones which didn't have the "T" bar on them. There are a few vendors that show up at the Portland Indiana Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Show each year, and typically, one or two of them will have them in stock at the shows. I just picked up a second one for the 1964 Wards Garden Mark Squire 9. They have an inner pipe to insulate the chrome pipe and are very well made! Typically you can pick one up for $90-$120 depending on the vendor. Welcome to the Tube!! Love your logo and looking forward to seeing videos of yours. You've got a new subscriber. Cheers!! Zip~

    It can be done. As for Chrome, you would have to get a set of steel wheels and have them chromed or buy after market polished aluminum. I don't know of any stock chrome wheels except for those used on the 75th Anniversary Simplicity. Check out MillerTire on eBay. They have them available. Cheers!

    thanks for all the videos and tips. I have just been recently been biten by the allis/simplicity bug so your videos have been very helpful. I have a small frame allis I just picked up and a saw another guy on youtube had put 12" rims and tires on his small frame. have you ever seen this done or know how he would have done it? I asked on his video but think maybe he is not active with his channel anymore and tips help would be appreciated. thanks

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To do so, you would need 5 bolt hubs or 12" wheels with the correct spline or keyed hole and correct hole diameter for this to work. Other modifications you would need to do is to lower the trans-axle or raise the fender pan to clear the larger diameter tires. I know that Murray made a riding mower that used 12" keyed wheels, so they're out there. If you have a bone yard in your area or access to used dead riding mowers, I would scavenge them to see if you can locate a set of 12" wheels with the correct hole diameter and fitment requirement, whether it be splined or keyed. Best of luck to you! Cheers! Zip~

      @ZippoVarga  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Simpletractors.com, Michaelstractors.com, Fabebook groups related to these tractors, Google searches, your local Simplicity dealer. As for the gear grinding, there is a belt stop on the wide idler pulley, adjust that until it stops the belt when you de-clutch. IF it's the original belt, it may be beyond its serviceable use and needs replaced. Part number (2)164080. Your local dealer can order the item by part number. To make it easier on them, tell them it is a 3212V Simplicity Sovereign. The dealers don't have Allis-Chalmers parts break downs, so the 3212V is the Simplicity equivalent. There's also an adjustment procedure for the variable pulleys. To get this, locate and request to join the Simplicity Allis-Chalmers collectors group on Facebook. The files for the tractor are in the group. Zip~
