i dont get why everyone gets sooo offended by this tutorial. I'm Mexican and I did this for Halloween. Cuz guess what!?? I love skulls and I love how feminine & beautiful la catrina is. I dont feel its at all disrespectful. I'm painting random stuff... yes random!! Not anyones loved ones faces on mine. Halloween is a day to be anything or anyone you want to be. As long as your not mocking or making fun of someones culture it should be no big deal. Yes I know the story, my bday is nov 1. So I've known about it forever!! And again this weekend I'm going to go celebrate it locally because I love it!! Can't get enough days in a yr to celebrate, dress up, do your makeup in this manner and be normal. Ppl get over it really.
2017 here, and I'm going to do this for my daughter who wanted to be a Skeleton for Halloween tonight. I wanted to do something with colors and thought this was perfect! SO excited!
Well I actually know the history behind the Catrina and the Dia de los Muertos and i really respect it. But I think is not disrespectful if you want to make up like that as long as you're not making fun of it. I dont like neither girls who just want to look cool or pretty without knowing the meaning, but if you do and you wanna be that well, do it. If you think about it, Halloween is not even american, but North america turned it into a comercial celebration. And the irish dont think that is disrespectful. They just let it be. Halloween changes all around the world. Im from Argentina, and here Halloween is a celebration to have fun, to be whatever you want to, and it doesnt have to be scary. You just have fun. Don't take it that seriously. There are a lot of other costumes that are waaaay more ofensive, and nobody is talking bout that. ( BY THE WAY, IM IN LOVE WITH YOUR SKILLS. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST TUTORIALS I'VE EVER SEEN. YOU ARE TALENTED
I am Mexican, totally related to El día de los Muertos... I don't find that American girls masked up as catrinas are disrespectful in any way to our Mexican tradition.... In a way I warmly support this... Why??. Because it's a great thing that Mexican tradition permeate other cultures... Just in the same way American Halloween has been doing in my country... Who knows, probably one or two of these American girls would like to know the history behind their sugar skull make up... And doing so they start to understand better other cultures...
I have spent many years in Latin American countries but mostly, Mexico and love Día de los Muertos. I have been to many events with mostly Latinos attending and many of them where in sugar skull attire even on the American Halloween. No one seemed to be bent out of shape about it.
Thank you so much for watching guys! From reading the comments, in no way was it my intention to offend anyone with using this look as a Halloween makeup tutorial. It was all just a bit of fun and I think that sugar skulls are so beautiful which is why I wanted to create this look. Please give a thumbs up and subscribe if you enjoyed this video and let me know what other sort of makeup looks you might like to see in up coming videos!
Hannah Tyler you are a very talented girl and you gave a great look wonderful video I don't see how anybody could give you any Flack over this it's obviously a beautiful way that you display your artistic capability and you are very good
Hannah Tyler Your make up is lovely. Nobody owns the rights for this. It is great that people from many places like this mexican character (that's just what this is). If someone claims to be offended, it's just to annoy.
I used this look for a Halloween party last night and everybody I mean EVERYBODY said it was pretty (around 50-60 people) Thankyou so much I wish I can become a youtuber as good as you ;)
definitely need to put ur mirror on the top of ur camera bc it was really hard to see u do the bottom half of your face. excellent video though :) thanks!
You broke all the magic with your comments pffffff some people really need to chill life is difficult enough not to find a war in every single thing. Halloween or not everyone has the right to do whatever he wants. It’s not harmful or hateful that was not her meaning by making this video and I find this work amazing and yes can be used during Halloween to break the rules a little bit...you know like CHILL
Why feels everyone ofended by this. Dias de le Muertos is an Mexican culture holiday. It is for Honor the dead. And there is nothing wrong do this to yourself. I think a culture should be "happy" that there are so many people who like their Traditions. Everyone should be welcome in every culture. It shows that you have an Interesting one! Im German but I know a lot about the Day and the history of it. I'll do this as my Halloween "Costume" because I really fascinate about the history of it and how it looks. (Idk why but my english in this text isn't that good. I'll leave it like this)
It's cool. My English is so...ggggrrrr. can you tell me, the Name of Product or what it is? I don't now it! My Daughter want it for "fastnacht" in Germany. Thanks
+Amy Bil also on the first of November :-) 1st of november is el dis de los santos inocentes which is the day we celebrate the deceased children and the second is the deceased adults.
the sugar skull is not meant to be a Halloween costume, is meant to celebrate the day of the dead, but I don't actually mind other people celebrating our culture for the day of the dead, or face painting is not a costume for Halloween.
I love the video but I think you should know that the sugar skull isn't a Halloween look, an is actually very insulting to include it into Halloween. It's for Día de los Muertos and really shouldn't be confused for Halloween... Again just thought you should know, you're not the only one to make this mistake.
I don't understand why it can't be a costume for Halloween? it's not like she's dressing up as a Mexican.. Halloween isn't just some day to make fun of cultures, its a day to be what you want to be, dress up as something/someone else.
+Kate Applegreen You're taking a culture that isn't yours and turning it into a joke. Do you know anything about Día de los Muertos? It's a tradition that honors the dead, not a costume for you to wear. There are plenty of other costumes you could wear besides this one. Don't be rude about it, just learn that it's not right and its disrespectful.

Thank you for the info. I'm working on turning my girlfriends picture to a sugar skull tattoo and this helped a lot. By the way what song is that intro.
Please! I beg everyone, do not use my culture for your costume! It's disrespectful, if you want to honor us, learn about Mexico, learn our culture, do not wear it for one day, day of the dead is to honor our loved ones who have passed! I believe it is beautiful make up, honestly! But it is not to look sexy or anything, like I said its to honor our loved ones. If a person from said culture group is telling you something is wrong, don't make excuses or anything. Just listen. Please hear me out!
aawwww you look so cute and so hot at the same time... you look breath taking! and i mean all this without the actual sugar skull make up.. then with the sugar skull on you look ike a godess to me!! I SUBBED YOU and i am Male.. but damn you look so perfect!
Too fast. Can't see nothing and don't look the camera... Maybe you can move your mirror more up in next occasion. What a same, because you looks amazing...

Really pretty Sugar Skull design.
Love this piece, great detail. I like the concept of the mask on the sugar skull and the shading add so much.

Quick question, would the face paint mess up the beauty blender or should I buy some cheap sponges to apply it? Love this, can't wait to try it (:
+Kristin .Gonzalez Thanks lovely! the white makeup is actually foundation so it washes out of beauty blenders like normal foundation :)
