    Great concise yet comprehensive lesson, Scott. I feel like in today’s age the best thing we can do as teachers is to provide the best thought process to approach anything we’re working on and you did exactly that!

    Mr Paddock, please know I’ve viewed hundreds of TH-cam music lessons throughout the years and for whatever reason … perhaps a learning disability, I’ve always had great difficulty counting rhythms without being overwhelmed with cluttered noise/brain fog, consequently losing the count and my place in the music. So, I place this lesson as “the best tutorial” as it brings the music/rhythms into focus. Thinking what you explained in terms of the method(s) is nothing new (ie, 1 & uh 2 …) but it’s the manner in which you explain it that FINALLY makes sense to me - eliminated the brain fog. Cheers to you, Sir. Thank you and Peace.

    I'm a total noob to the sax and to music. You really helped me and teach me in this video. Your channel slaps! I only just scraped the money together to purchase a cheap amazon sax. No money left to pay for a music teacher or your online courses. I'm saving up for the courses. Thankyou for yoir free lessons meanwhile.

    Hi Scott, Thank you for this breakdown of how to read Rhythms. It is a great tutorial, easy to follow and understand. I have been playing saxophone on and off for some years now. I’ve tried to learn both playing by ear and reading scores. I can read music to a degree, but i’ve never really been able to figure out more difficult Rhythms. The counting method you use, with a name for every beat in the sequence has explained the timing perfectly. Thank you so much for all of the videos you put up. They are fun and informative. I really appreciate all of your hard work and your willingness to help saxophone players who dream to walk in your footsteps. 🎷

    My problem is when the tempo is fast I can't keep up on the 16th, 32 second, and 64th triplets notes kill me.
    But I really like how you explain this video. Thank you again 🎷👏🏼

    Scott, thanks for the video, in fact, how to count when you are playing the saxophone, as you need to take care of the notes. What's the method you use, taping your foot? Or any other way you do? Are you really counting each note when playing the saxophone or you already skillfully enough to react automatically with the rythm? Appreciate any of your advice, thanks.

    Can I ask yr opinion on whether Soundbrenner tactile metro is going to be useful for reed players? I mean, I dont think you can set it to mark beat 1 of a bar, it just pulses on. Is that a show stopper for us ?

    • @ScottPaddock
      @ScottPaddock  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I'm not sure what Sounbrenner tactile metro is.

    • @roystondowsett7325
      @roystondowsett7325 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScottPaddock its a "watch" which you can wear ( on wrist with a normal strap or on leg etc with a big strap) . You set it to give you a regular beat at whatever tempo and the pulse is a vibration rather than a noise. But it doesnt seem to do a special vibe for beat 1, just regular beats for ever. Its big with drummers.
      When Im using metro I like to hear special beat 1 click when I am practicing, and specially when I'm soon coming in after someone else's solo
      I like the idea of a tactile body pulse, but wondering if "no beat 1" is a showstopper for reeds ? Thanks

    Questions: What is your age? What is your Nationality background on both your Mom & Dad's family trees? What age did you start playing/learning the sax? Did you learn or do you play any other instruments? What are your other interests and talents? What would have done for a career if you had not been a musician and music teacher? Favorite food?
