Thank you for sharing this. My math is a little rusty and you saved me some headaches!

cool vid... say would you happen to know the answer to this question? I am building a steel string dreadnought guitar. However I want to build it with a spanish foot like a classical guitar, instead of the dovetail joint in the plans. Will that have an impact on the shape of the radius? If you are familiar with the book by Bogdonavich, his design (Classical) has the radius in the shape of a half dish from the bridge to the butt, whereas the Martins are different. Anyhow the first Martin's used this method in the late 1800's. Curious what your thoughts are, thanks !

Liv 4ever if you're making a flat top guitar with no top radius (not common, but not unheard of), it may work, but due to the large tension the steel strings create you may need to attach the neck and adjust its angle. If you're trying to avoid a pocketed dove tail joint there are some variations, but a classical design may come with more risk of intonation issues.

Ok, now that you know the depth, how do you construct it? Thanks.

I'll need to make a step by step video for another radius. Short version is trace that curvature onto wood and cut it out on a bandsaw. Then notch 2 pieces to create an x, and cut 2 other pieces in half removing enough material to align them into an 8 way support/foundation. Then taking your thin paneling cut it into a circle and then carefully nail it into place with fine finishing nails. Make sure they're recessed and sand the surface. Anything protruding could scratch your top or bottom wood.
