I had not seen a double-decker one like this before! This one is my favorite, but also love the peppermint candy too and the first one is great for a traditional Christmas color scheme.

I made haunted houses and kept back two houses to do a gingerbread house with. I had better luck with the paint sticking as I lightly sanded the houses first. I spray painted them black for the haunted houses, and I used a beige/brown for the ginger bread house. I used one house for the front of the house and one for the back of the house and hinged them. I put a fairy light battery operated inside the house. Wish I could share it.
Great idea to sand! I almost attached 2 houses like you did but thought I wouldn't have enough surface space to glue them. Brilliant idea to hinge them! Do you have a channel? I would love to see your houses!
There are some who say sand the house with sandpaper and some say paint with modpodge

Rough.
Anyone using the dollar tree doll houses,please,save yourself a lot of time,stress, and trouble by spraying it with a white primer spray paint!!! So many of these TH-cam channels either skip that part or don't tell you how important that part is. The doll houses is very smooth,and acrylic paint will not stick to it,no matter how many layers you waste your time with. Trust me!! I tried it without the spray paint primer the 1st time seeing one of these. Such a waste of time and energy!!!
GREAT POINT! I didn't learn that until much later. That's why I had paint loss when I popped the windows back in, and had to camouflage with the shutters. Thanks so much for your comment! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
