This is definitely a “happy car” with an aquarium on the dashboard.😏

79c per KW is without a subscription. Otherwise 25-40c is the norm.

Another great video! How does this compare to the MINI SE? If both were available in the US, which would you choose as a city EV?

Thats the CCS2 plug, not type2 ... top part is type 2, but not all the connectors is there, only the control pins.

Hey Kyle, I recall reading before it launched that there were 2 versions of this car. Same battery size but one version has slightly better 0-60. Safe to say you have the quicker one? Enjoying your European content.

Great car for the US, once EV's are much more common and people have learned the range they actually need in real life uses. I got the Bolt for its range and the winter hit batteries take but now if I stay working from home this would be all I need for the half dozen times I'm running around town on errands each month.

Love having this car! in Denmark there isn't a long way from one end to the other, but it really is a city car, but i never travel far or on holiday using a car, so to work, back and running errands it's perfect! just set it to charge overnight and you are fine 😂

    That car certainly has personality.
One issue with the digital side mirrors. When you're going from looking straight ahead through the windshield to looking in the side mirror you're having to change your focal length. Not such a big deal when you're younger. But as you get older it becomes a bit uncomfortable having your eyes focus from long range to short range. Think of people that have to wear bifocals. Even if you are capable of the focusing there is some eye strain that can occur if you're going back and forth a lot which you might in City environments. People have complained about this with the Chevy Bolt and the rear view mirror that has a camera option. Fortunately it can function as a regular mirror also. But that is something that bothers some people especially if they've got eye problems

Nice thing with car with lower range is that is it easier to get it down to low state of charge to charge higher on range curve.

Awesome Kyle !! I currently have a Honda clarity n wanted one of these just for commuting but not coming here yet. I saw a video on the design of the Honda-e the design cues from this car came from the early cvcc in 60s-70s if you look at one of those you car really notice the cues.
Did you ever notice how so many PHEVs do not have a selectable ev only mode??? mine does only reason I bought it I run it in ev mode almost always had it 2 yrs now only used gen/motor 2x

Gotta say, I wish Honda put that steering wheel in the Clarity PHEV! The button layout seems so much more sensible than the Clarity's

Most people can’t afford to have one car for city/work use and another for long trips.
The chances of survival in this small car against a truck or larger sedan is much less than in a larger car.
As you age, you’ll find that your body will appreciate a longer wheel base (larger car) that delivers a more comfortable ride.
Also, as a family grows (more kids and kids getting older) a small car is not family friendly.
That said, for a small car it did OK.

200wh/km (321wh/mile) seems pretty terrible to me for such a small car.

When will it be in the US?

  • @mattwolf7698

I like that car a lot and would consider buying it if it came to the US, ...If they gave it a 300 mile range, yeah, the current battery would be fine for me 90% of the time but the range would definitely be an issue for me at times. Still, I realize this was meant to be a city car and it's probably pretty good for Europe and Japan.

My 94Ah will do 160km driving at 120km/h, which means Honda did not do a great job with similar battery

The Honda concept car was a much better design. This design seems dumbed down from the original.
Honda and Toyota are a little slow to the EV party. Japan needs more environmentalists.

Different strokes for different folks, but I really don't like these low range EVs, even if they slap the "city EV" label on it. To me, the nerfed range screams "we don't care about EVs."

    • @kens97sto171
      @kens97sto171 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I think you have to consider the market that they're selling them in. If you lived in Japan or I imagine they sell a lot of these. Long ranges aren't something most people are concerned about. It's a city car. In the US we kind of want our vehicles to be able to do everything.
Personally I agree with you I'd rather get a Chevrolet bolt EV, small practical easy to drive but yet still has a long range. Slow to charge compared to other vehicles but it certainly could road trip if you did need it to for once or twice a year it wouldn't be a big deal. Obviously the battery fire issues or something completely different I'm just talking about the kind of capabilities people want in a car in the states

overpriced low-range foreign garbage. stick with Tesla.

Kyle you gave it lots of excuses by saying it's a small battery, but the 28kwh ioniq has real world 200 km range, and charges to 80 % in around 20 minutes - I know, I have the car, and have done long road trips with it easily, so definitely not a city only car. This is just a poor ev design, no excuses.
