When a person truly believes in Christ Jesus the Holy Spirit of God will come in and be a part of our total lives forever....

Ialways loved singing the hymns in church. My family went every time the doors were open, so we sang a lot. It was a cappella so we all-learned our part. I was a strong alto, while my sister was soprano and dad was tenor. When I received the Holy Spirit, He led me away from that church. Some had really loud music and poor singing. Ihad several throat surgeries and became unable to sing at all. It did not bother me so much, I just started signing the songs instead. That was when I learned a valuable lesson. I found in interpreting the songs into ASL, that I did not agree with a lot of the modern songs. Many were loud and repetitive and signing them over and over was nonsense,so I added praises, and put in different words. It seemed that the repetitive words moved emotions but often seemed to praise man more than God. I got tendinitis and my hands would swell. I learned another lesson. I could sing praises to God in my heart which only He would hear, but which lifted my desires for Him even more. I do not not understand why some sit there and do not lift up their hands, their voices, their hearts with smiles on their faces for such a God as the Lord our Redeemer.

How can you be filled with the Spirit of God? Our Lord God is the fountain of living waters. Isaiah 55 says " Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; Incline your ear, and come to Me. Drink in the Words of Christ everyday! And He will make an everlasting covenant with you!

Exactly. Fill yourself with the Word of God. Drown yourself in it, and delight while you do. Edify yourself in taking in of the Word and in prayer.

When I get off key singing, I remember the scriptures that say make a joyful noise, sing unto the Lord, tell Him all your love, dance before Him.
Sometimes the devil will get you off key to try to shut you up. I just laugh and quote the scriptures the Lord says make a joyful noise. Usually that is all it takes for the enemy to leave. God is good. That is how Jesus defeated the enemy. He quoted scripture.

"He quoted scripture" - It's something to behold, when you really think about it, that Jesus Himself drew power from scripture. When He was being tempted by the devil, He would simply say "it is written" and quote a scripture. We can all draw power from the Word.
      Thank you Father.

we dont fill ourselves. we continually receive his fullness. discovered on the path of obedience to the word. not a single special event. I like the distinction between songs for entertainment and songs of praise. Tunes matter. Spurgeons quote at 15:00 is great
