Yes, we are gradually developing indigenous nuclear powered submarines, capable of launching ballistic missiles. Now, we possess good deterrence. Our present Government is very keen to develop our defence capabilities, although we have very limited financial allocation to the defence sector.

the Akula II class of hunter killer submarine incorporates a very streamlined design . . . it has just the right sized sail that blends seamlessly with the hull making it stealthy & hydrodynamic . . . the navy needs SSGNs as well . . .
While SSBNs are welcome we lack Nuclear Attack Submarines ( SSN ) , we need smaller nuclear reactors for them and hopefully will have a few of them in the next decade or so .... Let's hope and wish for the best ! .... 👍 .... 🙏 .... 🇮🇳 .... 😎 ....
Well, you're wrong about that. BOTH submarines use the same size reactor. In fact, the SSN fast attack short range ballistic missile submarine SHOULD have a bigger reactor for speed and maneuverability. Even though it wouldn't be needed, because they are lighter than the larger SSBN Subs.

We owe much for this to the vision of our earlier leaders who set up the infrastructure. Greatly to Dr. Bhabha in this discipline. Also to the DRDO and our loyal USSR-RUSSIAN brathars (brothers). Does China have nuclear propelled submarines? The answer is a No! Though the Chinese have been aided greatly by their friends the Yehudi-Lobby significantly. China and Israel due to Dr. Kissinger are strong allies. Much Chinese labor is in Israel while Israeli scientists are training the Chinese. Also does China have functional aircraft carriers? Answer is a No! They purchased a USSR-Origin junk from their Ukrainian friend’s and named it Liaoning. This was copied and these are sitting ducks! P.S. China just last year started making indigenous nuclear-power generating reactors let alone a safeguarded tiny reactor for a submarine!

china has 70 submarines total includes 7 nuclear powered submarine.
India has 16 total, 2 nuclear powered.
China is a big country and they can invest more money in Defence . But indian cannot so thats OK 😊
India has 19 submarines. 7 kilo class, 4 German subs, 6 scorpene class and 2 SSBNs
