  • Worried about your cell phone's privacy? You should be! Everyone out there is trying to tap into your phone and home computer to try and keep track of you so they can either sell you something or build a statistic based on your habits. But you don't have to be helpless, there are things you can do to protect your phone... Here's a link to the pouch in the video if anyone is interested: www.ebay.com/itm/222251929721?...

    If you're broke, put your phone in a ziploc bag and cover the outside with aluminum foil completely. A really cheap faraday cage that'll only last a couple of uses.

    If you have had a highway EZ-Pass mechanism, you were given an anti-static bag at that time, so you could drive the car w/the EZ-Pass device on-board but NOT utilize it for tolls, therefore you may already have a freebie anti-static envelope in the car glovebox

      What heck is an EZ-Pass Mechanism and where do I buy one???

    I purchased the bag after seeing your video. Thanks! It works! Just hate that it doesn't ring while in the bag. However (strangly enough) the alarm still works!

  • @WH6FQE
    @WH6FQE 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Anti-static bags will not protect against an EMP, that theory was tested and proven unsuccessful for even small EMPs. These only protected against static electricity, static electricity is nothing like an EMP. Also, when that test was done they also tested ammo cans, they were also no help.
    These bags will prevent eavesdropping from law enforcement or "alphabet organizations" though as will a simple aluminum foil wrap, yet foil is not as reusable as these bags are. The foil will eventually wear out and the holes in it will allow signals to go through.

    • @rogerwilco2
      @rogerwilco2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very true. These are useless against an EMP.
      Also a single bag will often not be enough and some "anti-static" bags might not work as a Faraday cage at all.
      I had to test these as a way to block the GSM signal for an employer about a decade ago. I needed NINE bags, if I remember correctly, to fully block the signal.

      Have your phone restored to factory settings (but you will lose all your photos and contacts...so backup first) and when you get it back, use the password feature and get a wallet, like this man suggested.
      Another option? Get a cheap phone from walmart for $20 a month, use that, trash the old.
      I'd also find out who is doing it and do it back! lol...but that's me. Empower yourself, girl! Don't take that crap!

    It's fine and dandy to have that pouch to keep your phone in when not in use, but when you take it out of the pouch again to use it, there is no more protection.
    There are apps on my phone, but I don't use more than a couple of them. I also do not use wi-fi on my phone at all.

    • @PrepperUniversity
      @PrepperUniversity  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, there is no full proof way to do it and still use a modern phone.

      Are there phones that are made that are non-traceable or that the spying technology can be removed from? I've heard that before computers are shipped to stores to sell that the government puts its spy technology in them too.

    • @PrepperUniversity
      @PrepperUniversity  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One trick that I've heard of is to get a phone that's too old for the modern technology. Remember those big ugly 80's & early 90's cell phones? I've actually seen a few people with these and the circuitry is too primitive for the modern programs.

  • @tempstation810
    @tempstation810 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Never use the stock operating system the phone manufacturer installed. If you can root the device and install a custom rom, please do so and install either unmodified barebones android or even better an android distribution designed with security in mind. Not only will this increase the security of your device, it will extend the battery life because you wont have a million background processes running all the time. Also I know it seems like overkill and it is very inconvient, but encrypt your device and use a high entropy password.

    I'm pretty sure those "anti-static" bags are not nearly as good at simply turning your phone OFF or putting it in "airplane mode".
    When in the bag it will still try to transmit and receive and how well that works will depend on the distance to the nearest cell tower and the local environment. It will do so at maximum power and drain the battery more quickly as well.
    Those are far from perfect Faraday cages. I once had to test things like that for an employer, and I needed NINE BAGS to fully block the signal if I remember correctly.

    • @rogerwilco2
      @rogerwilco2 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rolling my eyes once again. Two things. That bag wont do schit against emp and it's practically useless for the purpose for which it was made. Don't believe me, put your phone it and go get within 500 feet of a cell phone tower and call it, send it a text, and mms message from another phone while it's inside your little pouch. When you see that it fails 100% of the time you'll understand... Maybe. I'm starting to lose faith in humanity. The CyberForensics Lab at Purdue University tested a whole slew of the pouches and published the data. EVERY ONE OF THEM FAILED, they had a combined average failure rate of over 71%. They're garbage.
