    I do photography from helcopters... i've done 18 cities so far... I just started shooting video and plan to try it in a helicopter in Houston in the next couple weeks. Great vid here man! I cant wait to shoot some vid up there

    What was your focal length? I'm shooting some aerials of Mt Rainier next week, and going to try a few focal lengths... We can get as close as 2000' to the mountain/ground level, and I want some detailed glacier shots.

      @@asahai2 I ended up using a Tamron 35-150 on a Canon c500 mkii at 6K raw. Worked great! Was nice to have sharp image, light lens, and the wide for when we were closer to the mountain.

    Great stuff!!. I'm going to do my first helicopter ride and filming this coming Saturday and I wanted to find out how you secured your gear. Did you have to strap the camera or the gimbal on yourself or was it safe just holding them in your hands?

    Thanks for sharing! Remember, always keep your equipment inside the cockpit, also for the sake of safety, you dont want anything ending up in the tailrotor ;)
    How did the horizon hold up, was it drifting alot during turns and accelleration?

    I loved this video!
    I can’t quite figure out what lens you used. It looks like a 24-70mm is that right ?

    What was your gimbal mode on to shoot in helicopter? Do you suggest strapping the camera down ?

    I guess for me its all about options and having the right tool for the job. They both have their pros and cons, it all depends on what you need. As for Epic Choppers, I keep saying I'm going to go up for some shots/footage but haven't yet. One of these days I suppose.

    Fantastic video. I too have the a7iii and Ronin S. I see you’re using an adjustable ND filter. Did you shoot in 4K or 1080p? Did you keep your shutter the same? And lastly, what was your fstop? Needing this info bc I’m going to NYC for a similar experience next month.

    • @shutterstocktutorials
      @shutterstocktutorials  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I highly recommend shooting in 4k. Helps a lot with the stabilization after the fact. I kept the shutter at 1/50th at all times, and I was altering the aperture setting as I went, just based on the situation. In general I stayed pretty well closed so that I could keep a deep field of focus.

    What were your settings while you were shooting video? Love to know what you used for fps, shutter speed.

    What settings / frame rate did you use for the helicopter low light shots?

    • @shutterstocktutorials
      @shutterstocktutorials  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I shot everything at 23.976 during the lowlight portion - and all I can remember is that I jacked up the ISO really high. It was probably at like 25,600 - but with the a7III that's not that big of a deal noise wise.

      @@Asdf67865 Awesome! Have fun! Word of advice, if you have some way to, have a monitor rigged where you can see your image bigger. It drove me crazy trying to focus (and as you can see I missed it a couple times in the video).

    What a BS comparison.... what you think happens with helicopter pilots? they wake up some day and got a license? they dont have tho have a flight map, get certifications, restrictions areas to flight... so much bs to say that heli´s are the way to go if you are too lazy to get your drone certification and license... to flight helicopter you need waaaayyyy more certifications, classes and clearences, and if you do like you did, to pay someone to flight you there, you will pay waaaay less to get some certificated drone pilot to flight you there too... so, no... that´s BSSS!!!

    • @shutterstocktutorials
      @shutterstocktutorials  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I guess for me - the test was comparing the two as tools for getting aerial shots, not owning a drone vs. being a helicopter pilot. I also don't really say one is better than the other or anything like that, just showing the differences. Let's face it, I really wanted to go in a helicopter haha. Regardless, thanks for watching!
