Alex is a really skilled 3 cushion player. anyone thinking he can't play position needs their head examined. I've seen him do some amazing position play. That's what makes the Filipino players so good. They grow up on 3 cushion tables. I've lived in Asia. There are as many tables without pockets as with them. Efren is also a top 3 cushion player. It's a valuable part of their game.
what are you talking about? earl had EXCELLENT cue ball control in his prime, maybe not to the extent of reyes but he still could put the white pretty much where ever he wanted provided he wasnt playing a safety and even then, his ability to play safeties improved alot through the 90s. I agree that reyes was overall the better player when considering them in their primes but earl was right at his heals, and it wasnt for lack of cue ball control on "standard" shots
59:10 is the most perfectly symmetric break I have ever seen. All the balls on the left side of the rack match the motion of the balls on the ride side of the rack. It's uncanny!!
Very good and knowledgeable commentary spoiled by the fact that the whole damned room was miked, apparently. With echo. That aside, a very enjoyable match.
+deltavee2 Yes this was the old days for IP streaming . Wow I worked really hard this tournament thanks for the kudos sorry about the audio the newer stuff is better more developed . -Alvin -
+InsidePOOLmag Just to let you know I've been a loyal subscriber for a good while now and I have watched a LOT of your work on YT. I've learned a lot from watching the masters play and your videos have definitely upped my game. I may post a gripe once in a while, but that's all it is, griping, and not meant negatively. Like this: "When you going to put a CAMERA looking straight down onto the table? Geez." See? Thank you for posting and thank you for the hard work you put into all of these, Alvin. I know from a professional perspective how much effort is involved and the behind the scenes work you do IS appreciated.
It's interesting seeing the slow frame rate of the video. You can see the final result of the speed they use on each shot without seeing the actual speed...
I love when Oscar is in the booth. I played him in NY, a fine person. He is right on the money at 1:11:11 about Earl being on the money about what he says....
+abusiveFIRE Your absolutely right... Another thing that should be banned is the jump stick.. If I play a killer lock up safe, it makes no sense for a B player to escape w such a cheap shot.. As u said, things like BIG pockets, 7 foot tables, and jump sticks are such nulifiers.....
+abusiveFIRE Yup,in my town, there used to be 5 Tourneys a week in 5 different pool halls.. Now there is 1 tourney, as there is only 1 pool hall left. In fact, I just won it!! Just got home at 12:07am.... Not much scratch tho...
I have a few questions I would like to ask Ernesto about the mechanics of the billiard industry. Can someone give me a way to contact him? I prefer email since my conversation would not be about actually working on one himself so I don't want to waste any of his time during the day from other customers.
Ok..you said Earl's stick will throw your timing and balance off right? I think that's the point. Earl's timing and balance is off one way..well the stick is obviously the exact opposite. Bringing Earl back in line with his timing and balance. That is the point of that stick sir.. Doesnt "seem" any which way. It is. That's the reason he has it. The stick does go one way. Earl goes the other. They bring each other into the center where Earl needs to be.. I would think people would figure that out. I'd think wrong.
I talked to Alex about 5 years ago in a pool hall about the best players. Alex just won world champ. I said Earl Strickland and his reponse was Earl doesn't know that much about pool. I have no Idea what he meant by that. I never questioned him about it. After all he was world champ and I was just a hack. But it made no sense to me. Maybe he meant he just relies on talent and shot making? to me Earl must be one of the most knowledgeable players ever. I've seen him do amazing things.
No doubt the Mr. Strickland is a legend and a great pool player, but he has the worst attitude and is not pleasant to watch, I prefere watching Mr Reyes or Mr Ocullo they have a nice steady rythm and are not obnixious when they miss a shot like Mr Strickland he acts as if the earth moved ?? anyway it is just my opinion I enjoy watching the matches you can learn alot from these guys...they are all Awesome
I think Earl is getting old and has lost his concentration he's not as good as he used to be I've watched him loosing a lot of games and all of them were by the same way which is missing an easy shots and complaining a lot about his luck but regardless of all this he's a very fun player to watch he's one of the players that I love to watch cuz I enjoy watching them
You haven't seen Alex in his prime. Alex is the best all around player in the world, in terms of snooker, rotation games, eight ball, one pocket, straight pool. + He's a world champion.
Rober Atilan "Pagauylan is not really that good. He is not a shot maker at all. " You don't win snooker tournaments (even amateur ones) without being a shot-maker. He's overshadowed by Efren and Francisco but he's a top grade player. He's not an Efren or an Earl but you don't win the titles he's won without a shedload of talent. He is additionally hampered by being only 4' 7" (this may or may not be a joke - you decide) which is why he has to use the rest so much.
hes actually a funny good guy. hes frustrated with his game and he doesnt hide it

KiLLtRoCiTy01 the pearl at his best is a better shot maker than erfen . i.watched earl completely destroy efren in 10 ball a while back
120-117 and Earl's TPA was higher than Efren's.How many US open titles does Efren have? World pool titles?

Pagulayan: "I'll shoot it over if you want." LOL, This is why I wanted to watch this match.

Yeah sounds like they're playing in the middle of a war zone had to change it.
The mic on these announcers is horrible... the mic on the other tables is on point

How much is the cue weight from Earl, 70 ounces? Can't believe that

The audio is pretty rough and switching cameras while the balls are in motion is annoying.
sounds like there is a construction site inside that pool room.
It's that damn rack. Loud as hell lol.
why is the video speed up ?
Just download the whole video and watch it later. I also had to do that previously.
EARL is his own worst enemy
Earl is one of the best players to ever chalk a stick
Me gusta

Nice 9 ball shot to get on the winner.
38:40 in a perfect world..... people dont make mistakes
Exactly. Maybe Alex was pissed off at him at the time and just said that.
1:02:47 I have to play it several times. Still can't get my head around it.
What was the big deal?
35:16 foul by Earl that wasnt called

Darwin Doug U should of asked him what da fuck he was talking about..
Darwin Doug Or he was just joking
Earl at his best is way better than Alex In every facet of the game . Earls gear is much higher than anyone else's .
Nice match!
i like it
Why is he loose?
@Jakeofthelake yeah thats real close
I have been wanting a much longer cue like earls before I even knew there were cues that long
Sounds like a bowling alley!
Looks like Earfl's DA bucket is running over in this game. Must have had a bad night or something.
earl is better 9 ball player. efren is better all round player (billiards, one pocket, etc)
This isnt earl vs efren.... but if it was efren would probably have won, due to their record being in favor of efren heads up
If you want to see a true earl gear... watch boleman vs. strickland. This is still not really "it"..
earls 7ft cue lol
35:10 no rail
LOL EARL SUPER SHOT
No doubt the Mr. Strickland is a legend and a great pool player, but he has the worst attitude and is not pleasant to watch, I prefere watching Mr Reyes or Mr Ocullo they have a nice steady rythm and are not obnixious when they miss a shot like Mr Strickland he acts as if the earth moved ?? anyway it is just my opinion I enjoy watching the matches you can learn alot from these guys...they are all Awesome
the earth did move lol
he is pleasant to watch.
@@useranother667 only when he isn't a whiner
If he focussed half as much on playing as he does yapping nonsense, he could be a decent player.
I think Earl is getting old and has lost his concentration he's not as good as he used to be I've watched him loosing a lot of games and all of them were by the same way which is missing an easy shots and complaining a lot about his luck but regardless of all this he's a very fun player to watch he's one of the players that I love to watch cuz I enjoy watching them
Pagauylan is not really that good. He is not a shot maker at all.
You haven't seen Alex in his prime. Alex is the best all around player in the world, in terms of snooker, rotation games, eight ball, one pocket, straight pool. + He's a world champion.
Rober you don't have a clue.
Either you're stupid Rober, or you're stupid Rober. Take your pick.
You should teach him to play better, since you seem to have it all figured out.
Rober Atilan "Pagauylan is not really that good. He is not a shot maker at all. "

Earl is a BiG mouth
Earl is a punk
vher143 Earl is bat-shit crazy -that's why he's loved and people want to watch him - that and his talent.
