- Limoncello, so easy to make - result ensured for this typical Italian liqueur recipe.
You just need good lemons and pure alcool. Forget about the commercial Limoncello you find in the stores, you will make it 10 times better! Trust me!
Ingredients for 1.25 lt (0.33 gl) of Limoncello
0.5 lt (0,13 gl) of pure Alcool
0.75 lt (0,20 gl) of water
250 gr (8.81 oz) of sugar
5 lemons bio
----
RECIPE:
Peal 5 lemons. Put the peals in a big jar and pour in it half liter of pure alcool (95°).
Let the peals rest in the alcool for 10 days (shake every 2/3 days).
Past 10 days, warm 0.75 lt of water and melt 250 gr of sugar in it. Let this sirup cool down.
Once the sirup is cold, pour in it the alcool (that now turned yellow) with the lemon peals.
Give a good mix and the limoncello is ready to go into a bottle. Use a strainer for this last step to avoid any peals into the Limoncello.

Just tried, just like you said. I waited 14 days. The result is fantastic, flavoured and strong. Will repeat it, definitely.
I have had this video saved for YEARS. 10 days ago I started the lemon alcohol soak. Today, LIMONCELLO!!!
As an Italian woman...this video gives me life. 😏😘
That kitchen utensil you asked about is a funnel :) Never tried limoncello and going to make some now, thank you
" Just so you know I'm not telling you bullshit!" 😁😀🤣😂
This has got to be the most exciting and humorous cooking channel I've ever seen!
Looks delicious. Thanks for sharing
I can’t wait to make this! When my wife is no longer pregnant . I home brew beer and have equipment that will make all that process a little easier to do.
I used a box grater. It does a good job. My peeler broke and and I got too much pith when using a knife when peeling. Pennsylvania only sold 151 proof Everclear so I drove to Delaware to get 195 proof and was cheaper.
Thank you very much for a wonderful recipe. Love limoncello ❤.
If you can’t peel a lemon then give up cooking! 😂😂😂😂
htlwtnsw htlwtnsw true no? :)
Valerio's Kitchen
True yes.
No no

Loved your Limoncello recipe! Made it over the holidays. YUM!
Beautiful....I enjoyed your video very much.
Can wait, I'm making mine right now
Great color. Will try
Thank you for this wonderful video.
I am go glad to see this.I am in Cameroon n trying to learn it from those who have been in Italy but they don’t show me.
I will definitely try this
love the bottle
Great recipe...I will make. Just paid $35 for a bottle. So sure this will be cheaper. Thankyou
That green thingy is a funnel lol I want to try this every video I've seen people love it.
Perfetto! 👌
Ive been to florence and had great limoncello..You are right that here in america the limoncello is crap..I started making my own.My first batch cure for two weeks and it was great..Just started a new batch that will sit a month..just in time for xmas..I really need to find some big organic lemons. The ones I find ate scrubbed and peel with a veggie peeler..Chow chow!!
Love this, thank you!
terrific video..thanks
Very good one 👍👍
before watch this video I didn't know how to make limoncello!you're great Valerio!thank you!
Limoncello with other citrus i love as well. Buddha's hand makes a wonderful 'cello, and lime-cello, mandarin-cello, grapefruit-cello, and yuzu-cello are good also
That rectangular bottle!! wow! Where do I get them from, please? Link maybe?
Valerio, that "thing" is called a funnel
The other item is a sieve.
Looks great! I have to make this!
Looks great!! Off to get some lemons today from the store
That green thing? It's a FUNNEL ... Pho-nell - you are funny and just because you said that if I drink warm Limoncello I will die - because it's a crime - I'm going to try it! LOL
As stated before, I used a box grater and only got the yellow zest/skin of the 5 large organic lemons. I waited about 10 days, but noticed my lemon zest was white, so I knew that process was done. My storage location was not warm as the reason I waited that long. Waiting any longer is a JOKE! Others say wait 45 days. Why? The lemon oil is gone, so seriously why wait?
Adding the almost clear lemon/alcohol mixture to the clear syrup is so exciting! 👍 Instantly it got yellow cloudy. Wow!
Look, waiting another 45 days is another joke! I placed my finished product in the freezer after bottling and had it 5 hours later.
FANTASTIC!
I think those who say wait 45+45 days are afraid they will drink their friend's Christmas gifts.
I drank my batch in 3 days. I did allow a friend to have a 1.5 oz sample, but I drank it during the Impeachment Hearings of Trump and now after work.
Remind people that using 190 proof Everclear does not mean that it is so in high alcohol when the drink is finished. It is recommended to drink from small 4 oz /100 ml cups!
Trump 2024
I make my maceration in 7 days with 190proof alcohol, but here in Brazil was too hot..
I melt the sugar with sousvide and filtered peels for 1 hour and 55 Celsius..
If you want to wait more, wait after mixing with a dark and cold place..
Good job!
Just made a batch, but instead of water I juiced the lemons I peeled and used that with some sugar.
6 lemons
750ml of 151 everclear
Juice from the 6 lemons
1 cup of sugar
Video coming soon. ✌🏾from ALASKA
Hey Valerio, I am from India, couldn't find pure alcohol, can we use RUM preferably Bacardi...?
Hi from turkey everybody. I made this liquor, it is very good drink 🙂
Thanks for sharing
i make it at home very fantacy
I have a batch sitting right now but another recipe said to put the lemon juice of the 6 lemons in with the alcohol. What should I do now? He also added honey to sweeten which I won’t do
One question valerio .do I have to keep lemonciello in the freezer after I pour myself a glass?I wish I could purchase those delicious Amalfi coast lemons but I live in the states and no import fruits🍋greetings from sunny Florida🌞
Pela patate per i limoni??? Simpaticissimo.. ciao :))
Sei simpaticissimo e bravo! Cheers! :)
Mamma mia!!!
Yum
Grazie mille.
Thanks for the recipe brotha ✌✌.. you asked for the name of that thing and it's called "funnel" .
Ciao Valerio 😊 Can I put Vodka, because here in Bulgaria is difficult to find pure alcohol?
Is it safe to use alcohol in food?? Could we alternate it with another thing
Lemon celo looks great. Cant you lightly grate the lemons too intensify the flavour?
NAA you can leave the peals inside Also for estetic
could the same be done to orange peel
Valerio, how do you feel about making limoncello using vodka? Pure spirits can be a bit difficult to find. I've made it using vodka and it's been decent, but I haven't had top-quality limoncello to compare it to.
I will be vodka Lemon 🤣 but still will work
Make sure you get vodka that is as neutral tasting as it gets. Extraction time should be longer, like month.
For 0,5 liter of 40abv, it would work our to about 100g sugar and 100g of water.
This should net you about one bottle of limoncello, that has expected strength of around 30abv.
In addition to letting it extract for a month, I wouldn't add any water. Strain/filter the peels out of the macerated alcohol, add sugar, shake until sugar is dissolved.
I have made it and mine stays clear does get cloudy like yours does, why ?? I have made it many times!!
Hi there, how long does it last for once made please?
In the freezer... forever!
Why don’t you just use a micro planer it just removes the outer lemon peel no white…it is amazing…this recipe looks amazing so very easy and authentic..the item you need the name for is called funnel…..fun…Nel….thanks for sharing chow!
Can i make this using lime? The green looking lemons, thanks!
can you tell me where you got that bottle from?
im so jealous of you right now!
🤣 my old collection of grappa
Looks like an Amaretto di Saronno bottle
Too easy not to try! Thanks for the recipe! Do you think Meyer lemons would be okay?
I'm curious if you could use simple syrup instead of boiling water and refined sugar?
Probably not. it doesnt seem like a 1 to 1 ratio so ur limoncello would come out very super sweet
Like Liberace says, Bottoms up!!
Awesome! After a while the limoncello becomes less colored. Is there some way to stabilize the pigments without using a colorant?
Hello Sergio, if i understand well what you say, you see a yellow less intense after a while. That is actually normal cause the lemon peals particles will be slowly separating from the alcohol unless you keep shaking it constantly or alternatively you can filter it before putting it in a bottle...If you see a limoncello standing still for 1 year and being still very intense, it most likely will have colorants in it!
To be honest I usually finish it all before noticing that effect :)
Uh, who let's it sit long enough to lose its color? If you make it, you should be drinking it.
Hello. I prepared just like you. My question is how long does lemonacello stay after its preparation? Thank you
I would use it in the first year or 2. It will last for much longer than that, but the flavor will start to degrade.
@@teddyrva2779 thank you 🖒
Can i add lemon juice in?
I'm tempted to try this recipe, but using Honey instead of raw white sugar.
Organic lemons
It's a funnel.
This can be made with milk or cream instead of water but it won't last as long.
Can we use smaller sized lemons??
Honey, it isn't the size of the fruit, it's how you use it. 😛😜😘
Oranges and a stick on Cinnamon it’s just as good
Could you do something like this with limes?
Buddha's hand makes a wonderful cello
What kind of alcohol do you use?
Popeye doesn't know what he's talking about. If you are in the states everclear or another neutral grain alcohol will work.
Drinking methanol is poisonous, properly distilled spirits(ethanol) is not.
DAMN! You're a good-looker! :-D
Super cute! 😜
Please tell me what kind of alcohol .? Love to try to make this for the summer months.
Hello! It is pure alcohol, is 95% or 98%. I discussed with some other people from US and you can find it depending from the state where you live in. Some tried to do it with Wodka cause is the most alcoholic thing that they can find. Here in Italy and in some states you can find this pure alcohol that is used just for making these types of liqueurs :)
Valerio's Kitchen thank you for the help :*
s stanga the 95% alcohol he is discussing is what we Americans call “Everclear.”
You want pure Grain alcohol.
sad news: bottle of this video just broke...
Subscribe to the channel, soon i will start publishing videos :D
if you use Gin instead of alcool will it work? any substitution for alcool?
Any alcohol 50% and higher is fine.
How long will it stay fresh?
I can't find a good pure alcohool. So, i'm using Absolut vodka from sweden.
i want to make this...how long we can keep it in refrigirator?
It can stay in the freezer for years. it doesn't go off
Peter Cosimo Iuliano thanks for the reply
Until the end of civilization
Can I use vodka for this? Thanks
Yes you can.
You can but the grain alcohol starts at a higher proof and helps keep it up with all the water and sugar that you put into it.
Vodka will start at 80 or 90 proof.
Ever clear or moonshine type alcohols will be above 100proof. Ideally you'd want the strongest your state allows. My state is 190 proof but it's easier to find them around 160 proof or so.
The water and the sugar is basically lowering the proof of the alcohol so the higher you start, the higher it will be when you finish. The lower you start the lower it will be when you finish.
You can always add more water to bring it down its much harder to add more alcohol to bring it up again.
Where the hell can you buy pure alcohol ? in the UK
No grain alcohol across the pond?
Everclear it’s called in Canada
You can use vodka, but use very little water if you do
Havok how little water? Can one use lemon juice?
Easy. 95% Spiritus in any Polish shop (only Polish make it and are masters of it since the 14th century). It doesn't have a taste so it's perfect for all kinds of magical preparations. How have you Brits ever survived without it? Lemons + spiritus = perfect Polish Italian marriage.
Where do u get alcohol? And that bottle?
What kind of alcohol???
Have you tried using any other kind of sweetner? agave, condensed milk, brown sugar?
Condensed milk sounds gross in this, but it's useful for making Irish cream
or a sweet cream
Milk/cream + acid from the lemon will make a disgusting curdled mess. Just use sugar!
You could grate off the lemon zest.
Easier if you use a lemon-zester. Just a suggestion. Ciao
What do you do with the peeled left over lemons?
Lemonade
How long about it expired date brother?
Sujana Otot
You didn't show the first step !
How you made the moonshine 😃
You kill me 😂😂
kristina hatfield I died too!!
That’s makes us talking dead. I’m grateful.
It's the best kind of death
Why can’t you use the juice of the lemon instead of water?🥰
You can
That is a genius idea.
i use a vegetable peeler. most people are not so good with a knife as you
Why did you not use the lemons juice?
How much it lasts?
Di dove sei Valerio?
Chef Rafi's Awesome World Rome - Italy! Tu?
Valerio's Kitchen 🇺🇸 nice! you must see my latest video then in Romanesco!!
Already watched it and liked it! What do you do? you go around the world making videos? You seem pretty young for that!
Great recipe. I noticed that in Italy pure grain alcohol is readily available, even in supermarkets. How can you get it outside of Italy? Do they have EU shipping? (In the Netherlands they only sell up to 81%abv, which just doesn't cut it)
Look for Everclear.

" be sure to use biological lemons"... Cuz' the synthetic ones taste terrible! 😂😂😂
He means organic
never seen a synthetic lemon...did you mean the plastic ones?
How do you peel a synthetic lemon? 🤣
@@The5thElementFemale LMAO
In current year it is a transphobic hate crime to claim biological things are not the exact same as synthetic things.........
Think you have to be a biologist to be able to define what a thing is, unless your a biologist that uses facts.........cause then your just speaking bigoted republican white suppremist transphobic abilist nazi garbage!
I agree though, just avoid the synthetic stuff.
:)
What is the Italian word for funnel?
