Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time TH-camr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. Mascara UPDATES:
1. The LA Girl one did remove with just warm water! But it just washed away, it didn't come off in tubes. I was very surprised at how easily it removed though...no cleanser needed!
2. The Essence one didn't budge with just water! I splashed warm water on it while I was removing the other one and nothing happened, not even a smudge. I needed an oil-based cleanser to remove it.

Hi Jen, I’m kinda new to tubing Mascara can you tell me if you do this before removing your face makeup. I use Farmacy cleansing balm. So do I splash warm water on my eyes to remove the tubing mascara first then use the cleansing balm, I also do a second cleanse with the Rephr cleanser. Thank you

I use that L'Oréal base around my lips and under my wrinkly eyes. It stops lipstick bleeding and helps to fill lip lines.

This just cemented my trip to the drugstore to get this stuff! I used to smoke in a previous life [hitting herself for being utterly stupid] and as a dry skinned woman I'm now getting my just results: my lip lines are many and deep despite the fact I quit almost 10yrs ago. I got a Milani transparent lipliner that was supposed to help with feathering/bleeding, but I'm not a fan. Now that my pores are larger - getting old is fun, *looking old* isn't - too I could use it next to my nose and on my nose too. I'm hearing marvellous things about that BB Cream-like foundation (sth with water in the name? ) from L'Oréal too.
Too bad I'm already drowning in Cream and liquid blushes. I have no good reason to get Essence (even though it is one of my favourite brands. Their nail polish, lip liners, eye liners and some mascaras are great. Their bronzers often too).

Those Essence blush swatches were sooo helpful, thank you! I really appreciated being able to see them blended out, since it gives a better idea of how they'd look on the cheeks. I'm wondering if I "need" Berry Cheeks if I have Flower Beauty's Berry-More blush, but I definitely want to pick up Goldy Cassis. What a beautiful, unique-looking color.

I always use an ivory colour all over my lid, because it helps to neutralise the colour of your eyelid, helps anything you apply over it stay true to the colour in the pan and also helps everything to blend more easily. Hope this helps.
Same! I'm always wanting an ivory shade in all my shadow pallets! It's a need for me 😆
Me three. If I'm in a hurry or out of any ivory/cream shadow, I feel naked; it's like a bra for my eyelids. I dont even have any eyelid discoloration & now ones can tell I've missed an eyeshadow step, but it makes me feel like my eyeshadow work isnt up to par & doesn't belong outside of my house.

Yes! It almost acts like it has coverage even though it doesn't. I noticed that my sun spots and freckles look less noticeable with the primer.

I know I would not like that bulb shaped mascara brush...weird. However, I am LOVING the Milani tubing mascara. It wears exactly like the Thrive mascara.
Thanks, Jenn. The LA Girl eyeshadow quads look really pretty. That gold-green shade seems unique. I personally like an ivory option in the small pallets. I use it as a base especially when my primer doesn’t have a tint. They can also come in handy to mix with other shades that may lean too dark for my preference. The blushes are super gorgeous! Makes me crave Spring even more than I already do!
I am the same with the light ivory shades! I don't know how to do my makeup without it 😆

Omgosh what perfect timing!!! I already had every single one of these items in my Ulta cart (except the primer) for the past 6 days but just hadn’t pulled the trigger yet. Watching your video just convinced me to go ahead and place my order. I’m soooo excited to get the Essence Pure Nude blushes and the cream blush. I also had the new Wet n Wild cream shadows and the new Physicians Formula liquid bronzer along with a few other things. Man I can’t wait to get my order now. I love that L'Oreal primer. It's supposed to be a dupe for that Tarte one that everyone loves. I've never tried the Tarte one, but I know the L'Oreal one is excellent. I'm glad it's back in stock. I find a lighter ivory shade in a palette can be useful for blending out other shades or for a matte inner corner highlight or for the browbone. I do like a deeper shade for the outer corner though also. I think that's why a 5 pan palette with a crease color, deeper shade, light shade, a light shimmer and a deeper shimmer to be the perfect palette. It gives you everything you need for a complete look. You can still make a look without all those, but that's just how I like to do my looks. If I had to pick one shade to go, it would be the light shade though.
It's funny because even though the Tarte primer is similar I like the Loreal one even better! As far as the Ivory shade goes, yes I could use it for blending but sometimes depending on your crease color, if you blend it with an ivory shade it lightens the crease color too much and then I have to add more again. I wish it was a lighter version of the crease color rather than such a stark contrast. 🥰

Jen you are a gem, I tried that L’Oréal primer and love it on my dry skin, I finished up a jar so I need to order me another one. Essence blushes are so good now I need to get some of the new ones. I just received my orders from your last few videos and I’m loving everything I’ve tried, still waiting on my Elf order.

Huge application difference. I've tried so many eye primers that just didn't work. Now I'll try that one.

MAC eye primer is really good
I got the peanuts/wet & wild shadow sticks.. the gold one immediately separated, super emollient-- but when I tried the save the look, it worked better than any eye primer I have ever used- even the shades seemed more vibrant-- I'm comparing to milani and og urban decay...surprised me, but mentioned bc of the essence primer texture

I been using the Loreal magic perfecting base for years. My one and only primer I use. Love it ❤️
Everything is getting so expensive, but drugstore is knocking it out of the park. Who would have thought LA Girl at $6.00 would be a rival for high end. I don't even look at high end anymore. K beauty is my skincare & sunscreen. Since I made the switch in six months. I saved $85 in skincare, sunscreen & makeup and that is buying all that I use. Just started using the elf retinaldehyde serum & I must day I am impressed. I was a script Retin A user and though the elf is not irritating I have some new flaking going on but my skin feels so smooth after I exfoliate. I use an enzyme exfoliate.
I've been eying those new Essence blushes! I'm really thankful for the first set of swatches you showed with the blended swatch above so you can really see the finish and level of sparkle in each one. Sometimes it's really hard to tell in videos because of studio lights that make every glowy product look smooth. Then I get it home, and it has glitter in it. Thanks also for taking the time to describe the true finish of each shade. So helpful!

Is the L'oreal primer similar to the Bobbi Brown Face Base or CT Magic Cream? Those blushes look so beautiful.
No it's pretty different than those. The ones you mentioned feel more like moisturizers but the Loreal has more of a slippery silicone feel.
You influenced me so much that my daughter and I went to Ulta right after watching your video. I got the Essence baked blush in Rose Rosewood as well as 4 of the Soft Touch Eyeshadows while we were there. 😊 I'm still deciding on the L.A. Girl eyeshadow palette.
Not trying any 2023 makeup releases any time soon Jen. My dad just passed away & I am gonna be sacrificing all my income to pay bills for my mom until she gets income. Until i am able to but more makeup i will be still be enjoying all your videos &reviews. Always love your opinion &recommendations.

I remember that Magic base by Loreal , I have oily skin with large pores and I loved it as well. I thought they discontinued it, i'm glad you brought it up . I'll have to look for it again.
OMG those blushes! LOL I'm trying very hard to keep my purchasing to a minimum this year, but blushes always always tempt me something fierce! Goldie Cassis may have to make the cut since I don't think I've seen a color quite like it before. I'm also drawn to Bold Heart and Berry Cheeks...
I have some other NYX lip liners, but I may have to add Free Spirit to my collection as well...

I use that primer over makeup to touch up and reblur/mattify it when it's beginning to wear! Because it's a small pot it's easy to pop into my make up bag for on the go xx

I wascgoung to get a peach blush this week & had 100% decided on Milani's Luminoso, but now I'm thinking the baked Essence blush in Pretty Peach may be prettier than Luminoso. In the side by side swatches Jen did, the Peach was definitely more vibrant. I'm going to wait a week or so see what people think. Which peach blush would you prefer for fair, warm neutral skin? That Essence cream stick blush looks gorgeous as well.

Them la girl pallets are my absolute fav!! I got one. The light purply pink one and after that I had to get them all!!! Top notch for drug store. Great quality for an absolutely fair price!

I think those quads are adorable! And I actually don't mind a matte ivory tone in most of the palettes because that's what I use a lot to blend out the edges of my one-and-done shimmer shadow looks. Or if I do a very shimmery/glittery one-and-done shadow all over my lid, not only does an ivory/cream shade work well as a lighter blending shade up to the eyebrow, I can also take it down over the shimmer very lightly to tone some of the shimmer down during the day. It's the one thing I always want to see in a quad, particularly if there are one or two shades in there that I'd use as one-and-done options.
And you KNOW I love a good tubing mascara. I'm so glad so many brands are getting on the tubing bandwagon! Can't wait to try that one out. I'm liking the Milani but I don't love it yet - it's SO wet it's a little harder to work with. But given how I feel about it now, I'm betting once it dries out a smidge more I bet I will love it. I think the Pure Nude blushes are gorgeous but I'm actually more excited about the sticks! I struggle with cream blushes but the way those blended out and the fact that they dry down so quickly makes me think they will be exactly the kind of formula I've been looking for.

Loved not only the swatches of the (almost) whole collection of products, as well as the addition of showing the blushes blended out, and the update wear-share at the end. I really appreciate that you're showcasing affordable brands, too. I don't need another blush or eyeshadow, but for these prices I could certainly treat myself to one without feeling guilty!
The primer and foundation look great and make me want to try both! If the mascara is like the Milani/Thrive I will definitely want to get it because I love both of those.

I have the Goldie Cassis. Love the color. Very, very pigmented, so use a light hand when applying.

Can't believe I missed this video! Thanks for the L'Oreal primer reminder. I just hopped on Amazon to get it. I bought my first one months ago when it was really hard to find and twice the price! Hope it stays in stock. The jar is Very small and I have been using it so sparingly. BTW, green eyeshadow looks great on you. I am a color gal and start to nod off when it's just nudes or pinks.

I use to use that primer forever ago. It reminds me of the winky lux whipped cream primer and a little bit like the Garnier 5 second blur which I don't know if u can still get. Mine is old and I love it!

The Essence brand cosmetics are exceptional quality. Those new blushes look really nice... I will look for those the next time I'm at the drugstore. I had a chance to try the Rimmel Kind and Free mascara, unfortunately, their seems to be a scent :( My eyes are very sensitive, fragrance free products are what I use.
