Hi Phil, Just a question, I successfully flashed my Gotek emulator. I will be using it in my Roland G-800 synthe keyboard so do I need to install any other programmes into my Gotek for it to work in the keyboard? (any additional firmware or software)? One video on Utube goes through programming the Gotek for use in keyboards rather than Amigas or computers. (Bangers and Chumley-Take the Fear out of the Gear) is what their Utube site is called. I am just not sure if I need to do what they are outlining or if it has already been done in your tutorial?? Thanks!

hey there. thanks a lot for this recipe, but do you mind if the exact same "firmware" suits for models with little lcd that displays the image file name?
Are all goteks relatively the same? I see them at the auction site and they say they're for keyboards or pc or amiga or what-have-you and there are all sorts of different prices, seemingly based on these uses, but I get the impression that other than preprograming (which this negates) they're all the same and one might just get the least expensive one despite whatever use it claims to be for. Is that correct?
Roughly, yes. When people sell them for certain devices they are usually the same as far as the actual Gotek, but have specific disk images for the target machine (Amiga, Ensoniq, Atari, etc.), or occasionally have 3D printed enclosure which better fits an odd shaped chassis or floppy bay. Your thinking is correct.
In my case I have every time same error: Match vendor ID from file: 0483 Match product ID from file: df11 Cannot open DFU device 2e3c:df11 No DFU capable USB device available Critical Error: No Gotek found! I even soldered the jumpers, double check the solder, also tried to solder the usb male connector to PCB for ensure is not cable problem, nothing worked.
Check if your model has an ST microcontroler or artery microcontroler, cause newer gotek models has switched to a artery microcontroler due to price jumps of the ST microcontroler. And this utility only works with ST microcontrolers.
We're are trying to use a Miditemp with a Gotek USB Floppy Disk Emulator. Now we have two problems: 1) We can't connect the Gotek in the proper way. We tried all possible solutions and variations with jumpers, flatcable or config files. Miditemp doesn't recognize the Gotek. 2) Even if the Gotek displays the correct number of images of floppy disks on the 4GB USB stick, Miditemp doesn't see the midi files in those images. Not sure what software (Windows 10) to us for making images and putting files in those images. Can anyone help us with (step by step) instructions, software, links or whatever? Thanks.
on my first attempt (Mac) during the flash process, it said: Gotek not Found. I tried again using a USB hub instead of directly connected to the Mac and it worked... why who knows. Hope this helps someone. thanks for the tutorial
I am following the steps, but after installing drivers the .bat file says: "Match vendor ID from file: 0483 Match product ID from file: df11 No DFU capable USB device available Critical Error: No Gotek found!" And gives an error that translates to "unable to access the file. It is in use by another process"... Any idea or hint on what to look for? Thanks
Double check the programming and power links, especially if the Gotek display is lit when connected to the PC over USB. The display will not be lit when it is properly connected during the flashing process. The batch file error could be because you ran the Gotek installer multiple times and left one of the instances open. Make sure to close the program each time you run it. I don't think the error should actually present any problems though.
@@cellarseer Thanks for replying. Well, after many attempts, trying to connect/disconnect the USB cable, let the PC recognize the unit, I finally managed to program the firmware and now it's working OK in my AKAI S3000XL
@@cellarseer I had the same issue where the Goteck was not recognised and none of the four Win10 machines would recognise it, no matter what. However, I have a Win8.1 machine which recognised it, and the correct details are in Device Manager and verified using devmgmt.msc and the correct details are there. However, the flash program fails continually with "The system cannot find the path specified" message, followed by "Attempting to unprotect Gotek..." followed again by "The system cannot find the path specified", which is then followed by "Critical Error: No Gotek found!" So, what is the path it needs and how do I find/fix it?
Following exactly the install procedure, I get the error message: "Match vendor ID from file: 0483 Match product ID from file: df11 No DFU capable USB device available Critical Error: No Gotek found!" Any hint to solve the problem will be wellcome.
Either you have a new model to which this video doesn't apply (which is probably the case unless you bought old stock), or there's a problem with your cabling and/or jumper connections.
Hi, i ve read the instructions and before proceeding i'd like to use a more up to date firmware BUT your instructions are clear : do not rename or modify the "tools" folder or the included "FF_Gotek-v2.14.dfu" file.. May i ask why shouldnt i modify the BAT to point to the current dfu from flashfloppy site ?
If you're that advanced of a user then you can certainly edit the batch script, but it's mostly pointless because the firmware can just as easily be updated directly from the USB drive once the initial flashing is done. Upgrading/downgrading takes all of three seconds using that method, so you're probably losing time even thinking about the tricky way, let alone implementing it.

You're going to have to give a lot more information about what you did exactly, what the Gotek model is, and what you mean by "3 terminal USB." Keep in mind that this video does not work on the newest Gotek models which were manufactured without STM chips.
I did everything that you suggested. I looked up the jumper for the Embroidery machine that I am using the GOTEK with and set it as recommended. I installed the Flash Floppy firmware to the device and hooked it up to the embroidery Machine (Brother Bas 415). It has the F-F when the machine comes on. I plug the USB flash into the GOTEK and the F-F changes to E34. I am not sure where I went wrong. Can you help me?
You're missing a disk image. You need at least one disk image file on the USB drive or else there's nothing to read from/write to. In your case, you need to name the disk image as "DSKA0000.IMG" or "DSKA0000.HFE", depending on if you're using IMGs or HFEs. For an embroidery machine, chances are high the disk image will just be a 1.44MB PC type disk. It's also possible that the Gotek will need to be set to S1 jumper instead of S0, so you may have to experiment.

Thank you for your video! I am trying to installing on Mac! But I got message and cannot go next...massage is Critical Error: No Gotek found! in command after press password! What is my problem?
Make sure to run "gotekDrivers.mpkg" before running the "INSTALL FLASHFLOPPY" command.
Also, make sure the programming and power links are making proper connection--hold them in place with your finger the entire time, if you can. See the video @ 4:09 for how they are supposed to be.
@@cellarseer Thanks. I am sure doing exactly same as video but got error.error is
Match vendor ID from file:0483
Match product ID from file:df11
dfu-util: No DFU capable USB device available
Critical error : No GOtek found!
Is this just Connection Problem??
@@seiya_fukunishi I would attempt it on a Windows computer, if at all possible--that seems to work better. I would also suggest trying a different USB-A to USB-A cable, but most people do not have more than one.
@@cellarseer Thank you for your response! I will try again change cable try on Windows If I can.
Just to add, a USB to USB type-C with an adaptor worked for me and I also got the same error on my Mac, but it worked in Windows (boot camp ftw!)
for some reason my gotek isnt being recognized by my computer
More information is required. What kind of computer (Windows 10? macOS High Sierra?) and what you've already tried at minimum.
Have you tried connecting the Gotek through a hub? Did you make your own USB-A to USB-A cable, or buy a factory made cable?
What's the easiest way to update the ff firmware?
If you already have FlashFloppy installed then just copy the *.UPD update file to a USB stick, insert it in the Gotek, and power on with both Gotek buttons depressed.
This Works on the Yamaha PSR 2000 keyboard ?
Yes.
@@cellarseer how to format a pendrive to Flashfloppy ?
@@cellarseer my emulator shows E34 in the display. What i need to it works ?
@@RosalvoParadella Format your USB drive as FAT32/FAT16/MS-DOS FAT. Copy a disk image named DSKA0000.IMG to the USB drive. Copy a proper FF.CFG to the USB drive.
Which FF.CFG and DSKA0000.IMG you use depends on what device you have. For PSR2000, you'd need an .IMG file which is formatted for standard IBM PC, and likewise you want to use an FF.CFG which is setup for IBM PC.
@@cellarseer thank you !! God Bless you. I will try it.
Thank you!!!
can i go back to the orginal firmware???
No, but there's generally little point in doing so. If you really needed to, I'm sure there are plenty of people that would eagerly trade an unflashed Gotek for one with FlashFloppy.
now it say F+F but nothing happend what must i do or set on the usb stick thx?
Add disk images to a USB drive which has been formatted to FAT. Probably also add a proper FF.CFG which matches your device (Atari, PC, Yamaha, etc.)
@@cellarseer it was not a good usb stick
@@cellarseer So i think i need the right FF.CFG files for the korg i3 old keybord
@@klompjes002 Extract this download to your USB drive. Set the Gotek jumper to S0 only. Please report back if it works or not.
