Whoa when i started this vid i was thinking "i wonder if you could just turbo fog and ramp, i bet thats what mitch would do" and then you said turbo fog. Mind blown.
Mitch, this is a great deck and a fun way to take the commander. As an affordable upgrade, might I suggest including a Pramikon, Sky Rampart. It flat out disallows two opponents from attacking you, let's you choose which two, and only costs 3 mana. Thanks for another awesome deck tech!
I love this deck, thank you Mitch! I thought about two reasonable upgrades: - Aetherspouts, for obvious reasons, it's a 5 mana much more violent aetherize - Mystical Tutor, not only for the tutoring itself, but also because with this one your opponents will automatically know that you have an Aetherize, Aetherspouts or Reins of Power in your hand and they could be reeeaally deterred from attacking; it can save you from more attacks than a fog for sure
I loved watching this vid, as one of my best friends made a Progenitus deck back in original commander release. A simple 5 dollar or so addition I'd suggest is Rafiq of the Many. Has exalted and if a creature attacks alone it gains double strike. Combine that with the golden pig of this deck and you not only 1 shot someone, but you get to end a second person as well. A 1v1 situation with an instakill Progy is more than enough reason for me to wanna scoop (and I have on many occasions against my friend's deck).
Progenitus has been my favorite card for years but i was never able to figure out a commander deck that really focused on playing WITH Progenitus, thank you so much for this episode
This is great. I once thought about building exalted progenitus but ended up scraping the idea when Sisay weatherlight captain was spoiled (part of the motivation was just having a 5 color deck and i was actually excited for sisay)
Hey Mitch, mystery booster reprints have dropped a lot of card prices. Commanders like meren are now cheap enough for you to make a deck tech. Do you plan on taking advantage of this?
Since there's a lot of two cost instants in this deck, an Isochron Scepter would allow you to fog even more often. It's about twelve bucks right now for one, but well worth it in a deck like this.
YES ! MY FAVOURITE COMMANDER ! Thank you so much for this! I have had a progenitus edh voltron hug for years now and it is my most beloved deck, I am glad to see that other people also appreciate the power of the soul of the world!
I have a progenitus deck as well! I added true convictions, rage reflection, and berserkers onslaught for a double strike anthem as well as adding creatures with exalted to beef up progenitus as he attacks solo. Fog and ramp is a must as well.
one of my favorite combat damage limiters is Silent Arbiter. i have shut down many games by making any attacks useless. once i even played it against a battalion Najeela deck, boy were they absolutely livid with that!
Progenitus is an interesting commander for turbofog because the cards that loop fog effects easily require a lot of colorless mana, ex. Pauper Fog Tron, but Progenitus needs a bunch of colored mana.
Holy crap i didnt realize it was that expensive. With it being in the mystery boosters hopefully that drops the price a bit so that it can come up in future videos.
Hey Mitch, this is a fantastic direction you chose to go with for Progenitus! He is my favorite legendary creature apart from Golos and was my first commander for my 5C deck, so I was very excited about this episode. However, I do think that there’s one card that you’ve forgotten about for a fog strategy, and that’s Aetherspouts! An instant that forces an opponent to redraw their creatures and/or “Terminus” them to the bottom of their library is a HUGE tempo gain, especially against go wide token strategies. Just thought I’d bring the card up. Looking forward to the next one!
rafiq of the many works just like finest hour for this deck. if you have both out you can kill 2 players on the same turn! In my progenitus deck I included medomai the ageless and temur ascendancy so i can swing and get some extra turns.
Displacement Wave is a great thing to run in this because your only creature has cmc 10 so you'll rarely ever have any casualties on your side from casting it
Card suggestions: Mystic Barrier; at most you'll only have to fog once each turn and for the most part you don't need to swing at the opponent diagonal from you. Silent Arbiter; gaining life from Ravens and other cards is great, but being more able to stockpile fogs for later is greater(or Crawl Space). Future Sight is a wonderful card advantage generator and may also discourage attacks if you reveal a fog on top. Sigil of the New Dawn; allows for recursion of creature-based fogs and can save Progenitus from too many commander taxes.
Oh so THIS is why I run Opal Eye the foxamurai, circles of protection, and Story Circle. Thanks for reminding me! 🧐😉 In seriousness, I'd say Progenitus is a great commander for the turbo-fog strat since you can focus on ramping, drawing, and blanking aggression until it's time to strike. I'll probably try a deck similar to this soon(ish).
Reins of power is fun if someone cyclonic rifts (overload) cause you give all your creatures the opponent and they stay on the board, while all their creatures get bounced back to their hand. It feels so good. 👍
Use something like Berserker’s Onslaught that doesn’t target but just gives your attacking creatures double strike. That mixed with Finest Hour knocks two people out one turn because you can attack two people per turn.
True Conviction (3WWW (creatures you control have double-strike and lifelink)) NEEEDS to be in there! It may have a steep devotion to white in it's cost, but if it hits the battlefield this Progenitus becomes Instagib!! With an extra attack phase, that's not one, but , countem TWO TPKs per turn! I've been using it in my Jodah deck and have dealt massive damage with Prog. The +24 life isn't bad either :)
Constant Mists is, of course, a great inclusion, Lab Man can be a great alt win con since you have a lot of draw potential and can't always win through commander damage, and Ajani, the Greathearted is a great card because it gives Progenitus vigilance to be on the defense, and the counters aren't a targeted ability.
So this is interesting, I too have a progenitus deck however I would have never of thought to do a turbo fogging variant, it's super cool seeing people make decks with commanders that don't just beat you over the head with a step by step game plan, I also applaud that it's progenitus heading the deck and the ways you found to stall for time to get progenitus out, a very good deck tech I must say X3, my progenitus is 5 color enchantments version because well, enchantments have inherently good mana fixing with stuff like dawn's reflection, fertile ground, verdant haven, khalni heart expedition, dictate of karametra and mana bloom, as well as having access to some extremely strong constellation cards in black which you wouldn't be able to access if you only played the stereotypical bant/selesnya enchantress decks, oh yea, and fires of invention means you don't even have to worry about what colors your lands are, you just have to worry about how many you have, sure you can only cast 2 spells per turn but I feel it's worth the price tag in order to be able to cast progenitus out for free whenever you want, hell I actually really enjoy piloting 5 color decks because it really does have the potential to do literally anything you want, I really don't get why people say 5 color is difficult to do, it's really easy honestly.
Zirnike I actually have finest hour in my 5 color enchantment deck as well so I can just one shot people with progenitus XD, I tried to put jodah in mine however I found that most of the enchantments in the deck are CMC 5 or less so all jodah does is give them an alternate means of paying for their CMC and making progenitus easier to cast even tho progenitus isn't the main win con, your progenitus deck seems to be more focused on casting progenitus and getting to double WUBRG faster then mine tho, I didn't know rafiq could combo with finest hour to kill 2 people in one go, I might have to consider getting my own rafiq
Zirnike funny you mention awakened amalgam because I'm actually running all the guildgates, specifically because of that new summit of the guild pact enchantment which can basically function as its own engine, the only reason I'm not running awakened amalgam is because this deck literally has 40 enchantments in it XD, and honestly I don't blame you for going the full WUBRG route, despite all the ramp enchantments my 5 color enchantment progenitus deck has I rarely get to cast progenitus and the times I do is often to use him as a free blocker, and the times I do get to use him for fighting is when I'm already super far in the lead and it's sad cause it's progenitus.
Just coming back to say how helpful this video was! You're amazing! This deck if 3-0 against OP decks 10x the price no joke. So I wanted to say thank you and I love the deck. Only thing I struggle with is board wipes but that's just how it goes. Hope the Golden Pig playmat comes back into stock and being able to buy a commander's quarters shirt and hat would be awesome to support you but I see none on your website. Best wishes!
I used to have a Progenitus deck. Had plenty of turns in which I killed 2 players out of nowhere with Finest Hour and Rafiq powering up my commander. Ever since Saskia got printed I've had dreams of killing 3 opponent in one turn, but all my fetches and shocks are in other decks now... Maybe I'll build this one, add Rafiq and Saskia, and see what can happen!
Isochron Scepter is amazing because you can just put fog under it and not take any damage until it's removed not exactly budget but not too much of a stretch
I would definetly put something in that gives Progenitus double-strike, like true conviction. Along with finest hour, Progenitus can kill 2 opponents in 1 turn; and if there is an additional combat step after that, it can just flat out win the game.
Rafiq of the Many is a second Golden Pig, he's $7 but well worth it and would have been an autoinclude for Reasonable Upgrades in my opinion. You could theoretically take two players out in one turn with both him and Finest Hour.
My next project is a 5 color jank build with Morophon as the commander. It runs Arcane Adaptation and Conspiracy, and I can choose relevant creature types depending on what my cards are.
For a "fun" card try ice cave. I'd also reccomend propoganda/ghostly prison, constant mists and deadbridge chant. I'd also upgrade some of the land to manlands as secondary wincons
I would add Ramos, Dragon engine for the mana he can make, which is the exact amount you need for progenitus, and all you have to do is cast at most, 5 spells, each a different color.
I currently have a deck with Progenitus in it, but the deck itself is Jodah, Archmage Eternal. Looks like I'm finding a replacement for that slot because turbo Progenitus is just hilarious.
I'd personally play Door to Nothingness in the deck. Sure, it's win-more considering it just does Progenitus' job slightly faster only once. But considering there are often more than 2 people at a table, you'll probably paint a target on your back with your strategy. Door to Nothingness would just lower the number of players before you start swinging with Progenitus.
If you're feeling lucky, you can throw in Aurelia, the Warleader. Basically this allows you to get 3 combat steps next to Finest Hour. Example: Progenitus attacks, triggering Finest Hour. Progenitus and Aurelia attack, triggering another additional combat step since this is her first attack. Progenitus and Aurelia attack again, possibly killing an extra person or setting you up to finish the last two players on the next turn with commander damage if they don't have an answer. Did I mention Aurelia is hasty?
Love the idea behind this deck and I think it's probably the best way to build Progenitus. That being said, I wonder how you're supposed to win against decks that don't attack, such as combo decks, aristocrats, spellslinger, etc.
I'm surprised true conviction didn't make it into the deck, combo that with finest hour and you can take out two player in one turn. Once Progenitus comes out your basically the archenemy if you weren't already.
Could you do one with Klothys, God of Destiny? One that is a bunch of mana ramp to cast giant creatures, like a turn 4-5 Giant Adephage, or something like that? Just a thought, as I have been thinking on making one around Klothys for a while, but I don't know what cards would be good.

@@daredewley9231 Don't worry, I did the same thing.
Pramikon screams "tempting removal target" in a deck that nearly blanks creature removal otherwise.
What if you are playing 1v1 though?
I love this deck, thank you Mitch! I thought about two reasonable upgrades:
- Aetherspouts, for obvious reasons, it's a 5 mana much more violent aetherize
- Mystical Tutor, not only for the tutoring itself, but also because with this one your opponents will automatically know that you have an Aetherize, Aetherspouts or Reins of Power in your hand and they could be reeeaally deterred from attacking; it can save you from more attacks than a fog for sure

He could still make dech techs on them previously he just doesn’t include the commander costs with the deck
@Nick Fanchette Did you see that steal enchantment jumped $5 because someone bought them all out.
Since there's a lot of two cost instants in this deck, an Isochron Scepter would allow you to fog even more often. It's about twelve bucks right now for one, but well worth it in a deck like this.
Love Progenitus, and this take on it is just great, thanks def got a new view on how it can be built
YES ! MY FAVOURITE COMMANDER ! Thank you so much for this! I have had a progenitus edh voltron hug for years now and it is my most beloved deck, I am glad to see that other people also appreciate the power of the soul of the world!

That mana cost shall be called TWUBRG from here on out. Twice WUBRG. Pronounced Two-berg
Or you can just elongate each syllable. "Wwuubbrrgg"
I say WUBRGWUBRG
I have a progenitus deck as well! I added true convictions, rage reflection, and berserkers onslaught for a double strike anthem as well as adding creatures with exalted to beef up progenitus as he attacks solo. Fog and ramp is a must as well.
Nice. I was looking to retire the previous 5 color deck I’ve been playing, your sliver hivelord build, and now I found the replacement.
Finally. The soul of Commander’s quarters has returned
Nicely done with this deck tech. I might actually build this and invest in it over time
one of my favorite combat damage limiters is Silent Arbiter. i have shut down many games by making any attacks useless. once i even played it against a battalion Najeela deck, boy were they absolutely livid with that!
Progenitus is an interesting commander for turbofog because the cards that loop fog effects easily require a lot of colorless mana, ex. Pauper Fog Tron, but Progenitus needs a bunch of colored mana.
Spike weaver is a pretty cheap card creature that can fog multiple times, im surprised it didnt make the cut.
It would have, but wayfarers bauble took up too much of the budget to include spike weaver.😂
Spike weaver may have been too niche for him to know about it.
It's almost $5, he doesn't include sol ring because it's $4
Holy crap i didnt realize it was that expensive. With it being in the mystery boosters hopefully that drops the price a bit so that it can come up in future videos.
I've always wanted a cool way to make progenitus
I would also suggest you check out my list for a voltron hug progenitus!

Finest Hour is amazing in my Karona, False God deck. It makes her able to take out anybody who is open.
In the process of making my own version of this deck. Thanks for the info man
Another great include would be avatar of slaughter, forces opponents to attack and they won’t attack you cause you’ll fog
i wanna note based on maros tease about ikoria were probably getting a lot of ramp toys for progentius here
YES! I’ve been wanting build one. Thank u mr. Mitch
Thanks for the advice! I love big monster beat down. I have this commander but wasn't sure of a good way to summon him
Rafiq of the Many is a second Golden Pig, he's $7 but well worth it and would have been an autoinclude for Reasonable Upgrades in my opinion. You could theoretically take two players out in one turn with both him and Finest Hour.
Also, I would at least consider Savage Beating for a reasonable upgrade.
'Geode Golem' is a nice addition with such a heavy Mana cost.
Ill save this video for after work

I think this is my next commander deck
Nice one mate. This makes me wanna rebuild my Progenitus deck as it will work now =D
If you're feeling lucky, you can throw in Aurelia, the Warleader.
Basically this allows you to get 3 combat steps next to Finest Hour.

I run Romas, Dragon Engine and can easily get progenitus
I find that a budget version of Chromatic Lantern is Pulse of Llanowar.
You could also run Saskia and sower of discord to accelerate the damage to opponents
Anticipate and impulse over f/f and the really inefficient draw spell
Animist awakening would be great here
I'm surprised true conviction didn't make it into the deck, combo that with finest hour and you can take out two player in one turn. Once Progenitus comes out your basically the archenemy if you weren't already.
I'd love to see a Louvaq, the Aberrant, even though it's a playtest card.
