Actually, Anne Boleyn met her end with a sword. Or at least, that's how the story goes.

A friend of mine owns and resides within a historically important residence, being equally of interest to the public. Are you going to suggest strangers wonder through her private property with impunity?

Absolutely loving the videos and I must say that this is one of the most interesting. I didn’t know about this. Thanks for the extra knowledge!

Thanks mate! I’ve got another video coming up this week about Brownsea Island, and how during World War 2 the uninhabited island saved thousands of lives! Thanks again!

The JLP doesn’t own Brownsea Castle! It’s owned by the NT but leased by JLP! There’s about 39 year left of their original 99 year lease!

I used to stay in the castle as a child for our annual family vacations. Magical times. I remember the glorious sandy beach, sea fishing with bitey-bitey ragworms dug from the beach, flying kites, the peacocks, black tie dinners...I even remember where the secret passage to a hidden room is inside the castle.
I was too young (10 or younger) to really appreciate just how privileged I was to be able to stay there. I simply didn't understand the concept of "not open to the public". Now I can cherish those memories all the more. JLP should open it up as a high-price exclusive resort. Yes....high price....it's worth it....it was like living in a Poirot movie.

What era did you go as a child? Used to fish off the jetty as a kid in the 70s...

It's a great castle. Loved my stay there with John Lewis

So who are all the people walking around on the property?

I like that the castle is pretty much inaccessible, it gives the people of the future something to look forward to when the lease runs out.

When I was a kid...there were a series of public information broadcasts on castles that used to introduce children's programmes. I thought that most non public buildings here were owned by The National Trust. I would look to see iof there is anything on TV Ark about this and complain to the Culture Sec about access issues.

It's incredibly interesting. This castle was owned by the National Trust and if not for John Lewis, it wouldn't have been looked after. However the frustrating thing is for us History enthusiasts and fans of castles it is strictly off limits. It's understandable that the company deem it to be off-limits, however I'd love to venture inside it to see what the castle looks like. I might have to send off a couple of enquiry emails! When I made this video it was a boiling hot 36 degree day (I know in Britain, unheard of!) and Brownsea Island certainly is a lovely place to visit, however in that heat it was a nightmare!

      @@TheUntoldPast How awful.
I am currently looking at the Roman Castles around the coast to see if a tour can be made out of it....The National Trust isn't always the best caretaker either. Frustrating equally to live in London where buildings are put on top of our ruins of note.
