水彩世界/Suisai Sekai/Watercolor World [スリーズブーケ/Cerise Bouquet] - Eng/Rom/Kan Lyrics

This song captivated me, so I wanted to make a lyric video that reflected how it made me feel to share with others, since there's no official translation yet! I really wanted to get across the story of the song in particular, of two girls who are faced with an uncertain path to the future that frightens them, but who find the strength to move forward and make their own path in each other. Some parts of the process gave me a little trouble, so I wanted to highlight them here and explain some of my choices.
Firstly, just a general note: the song title translates to "watercolor world" and going along with that theme, a lot of the lyrics evoke imagery of painting, including the last line of the chorus, Kaho's first two solo lines, and the end of her first solo verse. I tried to keep those metaphors as literal as possible while making their meanings clear where I could (ex: Kaho's first few lines use the image of paintbrush cleaning water getting cloudy with paint as a metaphor for her mind becoming clouded with worries). Bear the art/painting theme in mind as you listen, and see if it changes how you perceive some of the lines!
Secondly: The choruses! のせて was an interesting verb to try to translate because there are so many very similar meanings to it, so choosing the right one to make each sentence sound natural while conveying (what I interpreted to be) the intended meaning was tricky. I chose to translate it as "bearing" in all cases because the connotations made the most sense to me in context, but I also considered translating the second verse as "carried by the vow we made" rather than "bearing the vow we made" and I still think it's an equally valid interpretation!
Third: The line right before the final chorus begins, 全部残してく (We'll leave them all here). The verb literally means "to leave behind" but I hesitated to translate the line as "We'll leave them all behind" because in English, that implies the opposite of what it means in Japanese (forgetting something by putting it behind you, versus leaving a record behind as a way of remembering). Because the word for "to record" is a different one not used here, I didn't want to use "We'll record them all here" either, and settled for "We'll leave them all here" to imply a sense that the memories won't be disturbed, so they can be revisited later. I hope that came across!
