    I came down with pneumonia and was admitted to hospital for a week. I looked at my Garmin watch data and I could see the decline of my body battery in the days before my Illness.
    Its uncannily accurate

      Same, it was very interesting. The night before I got sick I didn't recharge my body battery enough, and had stress through the night. For about a week I didn't have any gain in battery, until I started antibiotics.

    I started many years ago with a Vivosmart. It died while under warranty and I got a Vivosmart HR to replace it. I loved the simplicity of it, but I was starting to have trouble reading some of it without my glasses on, and I wanted something dressier sometimes. I saw this and loved the purple! I kill regular watches so I’m excited to get a sport watch in a smaller size that looks pretty. I’m not athletic at all, so don’t use many of the app features. I did find it very telling, when on Boxing Day, hubby and I were comparing stats (we gave each other Garmins, I got the Lily), and my stress level was 75 and his was 14 LOL. My body battery hasn’t gotten higher than 17 yet…it’s been a rough week. It’ll be interesting to see in the coming weeks.

    Thanks for the great review. I have a small wrist so this appeals to me and I love purple. I have Garmin Vivosmart 4 and love it but it's some plain. I just bought a Fitbit Charge 4 and do not like the changes to heart rate zones they made, so I went looking for something by Garmin and saw the Lily. I'm not a runner, so I'm looking for a basic fitness tracker. This video help with the decision!

    It looks a little too small for me. Between the size and features, I’m happy with my Fenix 6s pro. This might have been good for me as a starter watch back in the day though

    • @andrezunido
      @andrezunido 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The fenix 6 pro is in a different league, the always on screen, connect IQ support (apps, widgets, watchfaces, datafields), physical buttons, great battery life, plethora of sensors and ruggedness. For me it's the best sports watch. I had such bad experiences with touch screen watch interfaces + sweaty hands that I cannot imagine going back.

    • @ronsmate

  • @narosser
    @narosser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    It'll be interesting to see how the target market for this (not the traditional Garmin user, obviously) reacts and how well this does. Some of the already-posted comments make it clear that if you are a female who ALREADY has a Garmin, that thing is generally not targeted at you. They're trying to expand their user base, clearly. Let's hope it takes off!

    • @emmie1176
      @emmie1176 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Then it's probably targeted at me! I've always wanted a round smartwatch but they were always too big. Only downside is the GPS but I guess I'll strap my phone to my arm

    • @taste0fmandi
      @taste0fmandi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think the watch is ugly, but I never wore my fancier smartwatch (Michael Kors) because it was too big and clunky. Never liked the Fitbit because hated the silicone straps on my skin. Bought this because it was tiny and had leather straps.
      Returned it because the straps couldn't be changed out and back and Garmin literally had no option to send back to repair, so retuned it. Going to try the Venu but concerned because it's really only 4 mm smaller than the Kors.
      Seems that small-wristed women either compromise on features and aesthetics with the Lily or let the bigger watches collect dust on their chargers 🤷🏻‍♀️

      A few or the watch faces do. They will have a little icon on the side/bottom/top of the screen and you can click the icon to change what is shown. If you tap the icon until it shows the little heart symbol and a number, then whenever you open your watch the display will show the time and the icon you selected (in this case, heart rate) until you tap the icon again to change it. Just a note though, the watch display isn’t always on, and you need to double tap or do a gesture thing to show the display so if you are trying to see your heart rate at a glance you won’t be able to do that without tapping or shaking your arm. Hope this helps 😊

    Definitely not a device for people who sweat or do actual sports. Buttons are a much better interface for sports watches, specially for actions like pausing, stopping, etc. It's really frustrating when finish your activity then notice that it was on pause for almost all of the time (looking at you fitbit versa).

    • @narosser
      @narosser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a VA3 and found the touchscreen to be simpler overall to operate (vs the endless button combos) and had no issues with the screen while running, sweating, etc. The VA4 with its lap/back button was clearly developed to address user concerns about the screen while running, so at least they listened the same concern you indicated.

    • @wintrymix
      @wintrymix 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@narosser coming from Pebble, I was very against touch screen on watches but Garmin did it right. I took a chance with a V4 and not only is it not as bad as expected, but it's even better in some ways. Giving a swipe can be simpler than pressing a button when you have to brace the watch from the other side. Starting/stopping an activity is still done with a button on the V4 which is ideal. Also the programming is surprisingly good at ignoring unintentional touches, water, etc. I haven't had to lock my watch to avoid messing things up. But I feel like the two buttons it has are important. I wouldn't want to deal with a totally touch screen watch.

    • @wintrymix
      @wintrymix 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get her something that's actually useful for exercising. If she's petite then Vivoactive 4s is a good option. Many more features, Garmin Pay if that's useful, much easier navigation with buttons (start/stop activities), standard watch straps that are easy to find and replace, and always on screen. Plus many apps and watch faces you can download. There's no reason to get a stripped down version.

    Classic reason why a guy shouldn't review a lady's watch. It's a kneejerk review not based on prolonged user experience, rather reviewer expectation (and that is a bad thing). I watched this before I bought my lady the Lily, so it filled me with trepidation that perhaps I should really be exploring other (better) options. But my gut instinct said that she would probably like it (seeing she collects watches and shoes). Turns out after 6 months of ownership that she LOVES IT. In fact, just the other day she said, "do you know, I hardly ever take it off", and she doesn't. Even at night time, she finds the sleep monitor far superior to her Samsung Galaxy. The thing she loves most is the diminutive size (compared to other smart watches). She still loves her old Pebble for style, but the short battery life is a major limiter. Samsungs and Apples are feature rich which is great if that's what you're looking for, but they are as stylish as wearing a bit of space debris. In the final analysis, what it comes down to is what you perceive to be a con. My lady loves her Lily and that's all that matters.

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Classic dumb internet comment. Literally every single person in the comments who has said or appears to be a women found it super useful and insightful. Plus, you somehow ignored the fact that both my wife and I wore it - for quite a while. That’s great that you’re life loves it, and I never said it was bad. So I’m frankly not sure why you’re upset.

      @@Dcrainmaker I'm dumb? Who's the f'wit reviewing a lady's watch? That DC ( I'm guessing DC stands for Dumb C#^t) was my point.
