"appears to be metal" what do you mean??? It is metal.

From my research on the SX-70, the base material is plastic which is then plated with a thin veneer of metal, so we are both right!

@@earlmccowen5197 Yes you are correct sir. I just was surprised and part of the fascination of this camera for me is the elegant exterior. it looks much more appealing than the all-plastic cameras which followed. Truly this is a remarkably well-made camera. I recently was presented one from my sister. It was a surprise and I will get my film soon and try it out. Thank you sir. I appreciate the wonderful video you made. Keep up the good work and happy 2021.

@@earlmccowen5197 at least with the one I have, it certainly seems like it’s all metal, without being plastic coated in metal.
I find it so hard to believe looking at it that it’s plated plastic, but now that I look closer at the parts, maybe I genuinely have been tricked……
Why I do I now feel like it’s cheaper and crappier? 🤔 I really wanted to it to be pure metal hahaha.

@@therestorationofdrwho1865 I could have gotten bad info but based on the research that I did, they were all made of plastic with a metallic veneer. A clever implementation that gives a very posh look. If you find out otherwise, please let me know. Thanks for the comment. ~All the best, Earl

      @@therestorationofdrwho1865 It sure is plastic!
The plastic is called polysylfone, which has been armored with glass fiber, then coated in copper, nickel and finally chrome on the outside.
It is plastic but made in a very fancy way!
