I know that Price is definitely affecting the whiskey market because I’m tired of being bent over with the secondary prices. And I know what I’ve spent on whiskey in the last 18 months 20 months and since my wife wants me to retire, I probably shouldn’t spend as much as I do. Besides as much whiskey as I have, I could probably go to 10 to 15 years of sipping my bottles and not have to buy another one it’s a good thing I like to share and send out samples. Cheers.🥃
That’s what whiskey is all about. That community feel of sharing bottles and being “hey you need to try this bottle”. I think in the long run it’ll stabilize.
A lot of people are passing on the OF Kings Ranch because it got hiked up to $90 before tax. If I ever see that age stated Evan Williams I'd buy it because it is so rare by me.

For better or for worse, I have not had a single bourbon off of that list, not even at a bar. There are a couple on there that I do really want though, the EW12 and the Bombergers namely. Hopefully I get the chance at them, but I find your perspective interesting. You and I do have different tastes in some ways, so hopefully, if given the opportunity, I'd like them more than you currently do. Who knows, cheers Patrick!
I won't buy another Bookers... UNLESS absolutely everybody is raving about. I have 2 that I'm gonna use as gifts (unopened). I can barely drink the one I have opened.

My opinion of screw caps is strictly from a health point of view. Alcohol degrading the plastics in the cap and getting into my whiskey is why I don’t like them. Maybe that’s the same for most people. It’s the same as the fake plastic corks too. Give me a real cork any day and it’s not because of being a snob.
I'm sitting on a JM Cigar Blend Batch #161, debating trading. I was a little disappointed in a Murray Hill Club bottle and don't want to have that same feeling on a $200 bottle
I feel the early batches were worth it but these newer ones are good but not great. I think there’s better cigar blend values out there. Most people end up paying 250 out of the door which is nuts. Thanks for watching!
Disagree with your take on Evan Williams 12. It is probably one of the best @ 100 proof bourbon I’ve ever tasted. Yes, it is too expensive and probably should be closer to $100, but I would buy it again if I was presented the opportunity. The Evan Williams “masters blend”, or whatever, is not good at all and way overpriced for what it is. I would never recommend anyone buy that bottle.
Hey thanks for your take on Evan Williams 12. I do like the whiskey but I think there are just as good options out there for way less money. I’m thinking aged 12 years from 1792 for example. The master blend I’ve had have been great. It’s my understanding the blends change quite a lot so it’s probably not consistent.
@@TheWhiskeyCove that’s true, even Knob Creek 12 at 1/2 the price. Good to know on the Master’s Blend. Last time I was at Evan Williams, it had some older juice in it, but it was very thin & watered down. I think they wanted $80-100 for it, no way.

Oh I didn’t know it went up to 90$ that’s twice as much as I’d pay.
The 2024 Shenks and Bombergers are sitting on the shelves around me for $135 and $150. Last year the same stores were charging $199 each.
It’s not an unusual thing to see now. 130 is msrp now.
I agree with you on the Shenks. Bombergers I will buy every year....but Shenks...this was my first year buying it and will be my last.

I feel like Bookers gets a lot of hate but honestly some of the recent batches have been exceptional. I find it worth the price tag dependent on batch

I tried the EW 12 year on the tour at the EW Experience and I picked the EWSB over it. Don't sleep on the EWSB, it's at most $40 and not $150!

I’m sure it did once upon a time and I think that’s about what it costs internationally. At the Evan Williams experience it’s twice as much!

George Dickle Barrel Select and Rock Town Bourbon, both were horrible. Pass on both, waste of money.
Agree with the dickel barrel selects. The 15 picks above 100 proof are solid imo
