- Mackinac Island, Michigan sure is a fun place to fly/visit. Horses, bikes, restaurants, fudge, hiking, exploring, swimming...complete. This video shows the pretty flight back home from Mackinac along Lake Michigan's upper shore, by the U.P. of Michigan and along Wisconsin's eastern shore.

Almost started to cry. Your tour brought me so many fond memories of my native love--Michigan.
I was telling my flight instructor about you guys and he said, oh yeah, I have met them before...in the Bahamas.. I was telling him about this couple where the husband is a pilot but the wife does a lot of the rafio traffic. And I said " She's amazing to be that good and not even a pilot." I told him it was a little while before I found out yall are both controllers.. He got a big laugh out of my story... his name is Lance Flynn..flying a 414..
so that is ''why'' it seems that some of the controllers they are talking to

Everyone, this may not sound like a compliment at first but just stay with me. K & J, I've been watching your vids for a while now. I'd never say they are thrilling, exciting or blood pumping. But that's exactly why I love watching them. They are just a pleasure to watch.

Having grown up in Michigan and having lived in the South for the past 16 years, I miss skies that are as clear and blue as the one in this video.
Where in the South do you live that never has clear skies?
@@ronniegreen3513 I lived in Alabama for 8 years, and now have lived in Florida for almost 9 years. It's not that the skies aren't clear, it's that they are rarely dry and blue like they are in this video. A lot of haze in the south, compared to the northern states.
I had a friend who learned how to fly in Colorado and Utah. It wasn't uncommon for him to have visibility well over 100 miles in that dry mountain air. It's uncommon to have visibility over 20 miles for much of the year down here.

Very cool video guys, two years ago me and my girlfriend flew a Mooney Acclaim Ultra from Marathon, Florida to Mackinac Island, it was real cool cruising up the east shoreline of Lake Michigan at 1000 ft, AGL doing 230 knts. The whole Island is like a place lost in time, it's the most quintessential experience ever.....
One of your best and most enjoyable videos. Camera quality great both on the ground and in the air. I haven't been to Mackinac in many years - when our kids were small. Your video has made me want to drive back up. Keep up the good work. We appreciate what you do.

I'm on a trip in the U.P. right now. I showed this video to my wife and she liked the idea so we made a side trip to the island. It was raining but we still had a great time. Thank you guys. Keep up the good videos.
I was born and raised in Michigan, went to Bible college in Ohio and pastored churches in Ohio for 50 years. While at my 3rd church in Bellefontaine Ohio I got my pilot's license and used to ferry planes for the local airport that was a Cessna dealer (Wichita to Bellefontaine, gave me flying time and experience - free). Used to fly a lot of little ones, 150,152, 172 and C-177 Cardinal.... Loved it and miss it! Later churches made it cost prohibitive to continue flying, so these videos really fill a void I have had for years! Thanks for posting and sharing your trips!! Love them!! I've got a lot of flying time over Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, this video brought back a lot of memories!

Hate to see your sister so scared of flying. You will never know how much your videos mean to a person such as myself that is home bound due to illness. I love Mackinac Island, been there many a times as a kid growing up in MI upper lower peninsula.
8:57 Kevin, if you adjust your engine RPMs just a bit you might be able to get them to appear that they are still on video. Just pick a multiple of your FPS rates that your using on your cam. Once you get there they will appear to stop. Its a cool trick to see how sync'd your props are as well as they should both be stopped at the same time. (Just fun for passing a little time while x-country flying!!) Great job on the videos.
WOW, 15 minutes after you put this video up there were 807 views, when I got done watching it, there were over 2,500 views. amazing.
Use the pretty girl thumbnail trick. Most of those views lasted about 30 seconds after they realized it was the typical gimmick.
All for your missus, no one cares about you flying planes, loved the take off and landing at the Bahamas, especially the "bounce" on take off.. Lol

Ahhh, so its new paint. I thought possibly that it was a new aircraft because they now have air traffic radar in the plane. I'm new to the channel, and on their trip to N. Carolina he had mentioned he wished he had traffic radar. So I guess he now has it installed. Cool.

I did a circle of Lake Michigan couple summers ago inside 24 hours. I left VPZ in my 1957 172 in the afternoon, met my brother on vacation in Harbor Springs, dinner and overnight. Boats, rather yachts like I have never seen. Also, the Beech Starship belonging to the guy who bought out the inventory was on the ramp. Departing 10 the next morning, traced your same route, only 3000 ft. Overflew Mackinac, had to go home, will be back! I had the impression how very remote the UP looks.The islands like stepping stones to Door Co were really amazing. I stopped at Manitowoc and found it very general aviation friendly, had the Swift fuel my bird likes. Finishing off with the Chicago Skyline...

It's been some years since I have landed on Mackinac Island but has always been my favorite day trip from our home base in Holland, MI. It's just beautiful views in all direction there.

We had our honeymoon at Mackinac Island and loved it. We have gone back a time or two with the kids and also with friends. We flew into St Ignace/Charlevoix and took the ferry over. Love, love the Grand Hotel and also stayed at the Chippewa Hotel for our honeymoon. Not into fudge but lots of fun places to hang out, good beers and great food. Thanks for the family trip you took....you brought back some fun memories!

We were there last year on the 4th of July. It was a ton of fun. We stayed in a motel right on the main strip and watched the fireworks first on the mainland followed by the island. Mackinaw City spelling was changed to mirror more of the way it sounds. Mackinac is the proper spelling from the original inhabitants of the region.
I don't fly anymore, but enjoy riding along with you. You've been to two places my wife and I have driven to, Mackinac and Gatlinburg. Your video is very good.
Great having a co-pilot who is your wife and an Air Traffic Controller, I was wondering how she got so good on the radio but watching older videos gave me the information, planes, Airports and Controllers run in your family. I really enjoy going on these flights, I wish I could really do it so I could understand everything more.

Mackinac Island is so much fun! Of the 7 or 8 times that my wife and I have been there, we've always taken a ferry from Mackinaw City. Now I want to fly there! Maybe someday. Beautiful views, great video!

Door County is part an archipelago that ends on what’s called the Garden Peninsula just outside of Manistique, MI. I own property just off the lake on “The Garden” and often see numerous small planes following the shoreline like you did when I’m there. Given the views in your video I now understand why. Gorgeous.
