I liked this campaign, Its very short but does have a lot of moments that are very cool, I think they mainly set up these characters for a 2nd game and if we get it, i think it'll be better
They've simply milked CoD so much as a franchise, that the majority of people already knew that the game was going to be generic before it even came out.
Why would 2 Brits, an American, an Aussie and a Russian be in the same squad anyway? It would make more sense if they had each got captured individually and were each sharing their stories of how they got captured

Issues with zombies from an og player who’s played every map and every Easter egg - No wonder weapon, no ee, no pack a punch camo, no unique crew, no round based gameplay, no new map(s), no ee song, no side ee, half of everything Cold War has regarding perks and field upgrades but worse, no nuke animation (also of centred insta kill icon), no interesting story, no intel menu (didn’t like it in cw but at least it was a thing), no correct weapon balancing past “round” 10, only a 1/2 gun meta and there are hardly any covenants which was the thing they advertised most, probably missing more but those where all I found before I got a refund
I haven’t seriously played and enjoyed a CoD since Black Ops 3 and I loved Zombies in that game. So much replay value with so many good maps including the old remasters.
Holy shit I know Charlie said it wasn’t that bad but this hits way harder if you’ve played past cod zombies. Didn’t know it was this bad I thought the map was just boring or something

I mean, alot of people liked world at war. If they re did World At War 14 years later, I'd be pretty excited about it. And I wouldnt even need goble gums, 9 perks, widows wine and all the extra staffs and easter eggs (that are starting to become a necessity to make it too a high round), I'd be fine with a remake of the old game. Just better sound effects, graphics and gameplay. I'm assuming they didn't do a great job at remaking WAW since everyone seems very mad about this
I feel like they've turned Zombies in cod into the "Side-Mini game" from when you get bored of the MAIN Multiplayer mode you can go have a cheeky 20-30 minutes in this arcade like zombie mode! I think games are evolving with the attention span of young kids... I quite like the feel to it as its more pacey and you get into the "end game" quicker, but compared to the classic zombies where you'd collateral zombies with your pistol bullets NOT KILL THEM... you gotta knife them after those 4-5 shots for max points haha! Classic WAW zombies :') I miss camping with a flamethrower in the wall!!
Zombies has really always been the side game and the unloved child in comparison to MP. I'm always hoping for a round based map because base zombies in VG is pretty sweet so far.
Why zombies is unplayable: - No wonder weapon: literally every other cod since Zombies was created has at least one on one of the maps. This wouldn't be as bad if it weren't a key component to all cod zombies as a whole - Its not round based: This makes the game much slower thus more boring. It just teaches you to go from objective to objective for no good reason. - Pack a Punch, which is key for survival, Is borderline useless. It barely does anything to improve your gun while costing you money. Another butchered key component. - The tasks are boring as hell. StAnD YoUr GrOuNd. Or as I like to call it stand still and kill like 12 zombies because the game is so damn slow. - you get 20 points a kill. This slows progression WAAAAY down. Its just. Bad.
Such a short comment and yet much more useful than Charlie’s video. He doesn’t specify any of his claims as to why it’s generic or bad, which doesn’t help qualify his points.
IMO, “generic” or “bland” is the worst thing a game can be called. I would rather have a hilariously bad game than a boring one. I will always remember fallout 76 during launch as it was laughably bad, whereas I forgot this game existed in less than a week after I stopped playing. Edit: I know the full game has only been out for a couple of days, but I’m counting the beta as part of the time I played since it was almost identical except the damage numbers for the weapons. Also thanks for 1 k likes, that’s pretty cool 👍
I’m Australian, so it’s always fun seeing Aussie characters in video games, hell the Aussie Storyline in Battlefield 1 hit super close to home for me, but with Vanguard I’m just really pissed off, cause the Aussie guy in Vanguard is based off an ACTUAL war hero who WASN’T Australian, but a New Zealander instead. But “EHHHH FUCK IT THEY’RE THE SAME THING REALLY” Y’know, I like how Sledgehammer tends to boast about historical accuracy when it comes to their WWII games, but come on, even if the character is semi-fictional, you can AT LEAST get the fucking country right. Makes me feel bad for my Kiwi-bros.
Us kiwis are just used to being confused for aussies, Americans just think we're the same. It's really disappointing because the person he was based off of is a genuine New Zealand war hero.
It sucks cuz there were also some really notable Aussies in WWII, and the fact that Kiwis rarely if ever get mentioned especially in stories like these just made what they did hurt even more.
It's really unfortunate that they're finally at the point of giving zero fucks about the campaign. Not that they were ever groundbreaking storytelling, but I did thoroughly enjoy a lot of the earlier titles campaigns and appreciated them trying to tell a more serious story with the first Black Ops. The length of this campaign is even more disrespectful because they based the main characters off of specific individuals involvement in the war. So for them to beat people over the head with that marketing campaign of telling real stories, and then barely give them the time of day, is incredibly tasteless.
@martolomiau there’s a bunch of shooters that have great stories such as halo. Imo the mw trilogy was fantastic. Infinite warefare was even good imo. Just because they’re shooters it shouldn’t discount their ability to have compelling campaigns.
modern warfare 2019 really got my hopes up for the future of cod campaigns as it was pretty damn good (especially after bo4 didnt even have a campagin) but i see i was very wrong to believe in call of duty
i DO buy cods for the campaign. i know im in the minority, but soap, price, ghost, makarov, etc. are sometimes worth buying the title for. missions like clean house and no russian are historical.
Black Ops’s campaign was unironically really good IMO, black ops 2 was also underrated due to the different paths that could occur based on your actions and choices
I had a debate about 7 years ago with a good friend of mine about COD. What he said opened my eyes to the reality of how some companies operate. He stared deep into my soul and said these dudes don't give a shit about the fans who are growing up/out of the franchise, there'll always be that 13yr old audience eating it up. Weirdly enough I understood just what he meant and I'm not even mad or disappointed when I see the same copy and paste formula.
You’re right about that brother. Although I’ll ad that cod has started pandering to little kids a lot more since the lootbox micro transaction fortnite style trend caught on. Can’t wait for it to die if it ever does.

Honestly the only big three shooter that’s shaping up to be worth a damn is Halo Infinite. BF2042 is erasing the team play the series was founded on and is a mess so close to release and COD vanguard is just a “been there done that” with the only interesting thing going going for it being the campaign (kinda). Halo infinite is somehow uniting a shattered and divided community from the past couple games and just focusing on being something fresh but still true to the identity of the series.
I agree. It's because 343 actually listened to fans and took the time to make the game better. COD and BF did the exact opposite of what everyone wanted.
So many people saying BF2042 was so trash based on the bugs when the devs have said that the vast majority of them were fixed before the beta even released
the issue with zombies isnt just how bare bones it is. It also has to do with the fact that its literally everything the zombies community does not want, which is what most people on twitter are presumably upset about. Also, the one map they have, is literally just a reskin of multiplayer maps.
Yeah, you could tell Charlie didn't know at all about why exactly everyone sees it as the worst thing about the game. That he's not a fan at all of Zombies, doesn't understand it, and was just listing generic vauge complaints off a script just sorta shaking his head in agreement with the Twitter mob even tho he has no idea what's really going on. I mean not complaining that he isn't involved with the Zombies community, just saying that yeah, he should have just said "never been any sort of fan of this, so idk what's the big deal" something along those lines.

True true. Cod Ghosts was my first cod game so I only have good memories about it but man... I really wanna now what happened after. I've had some theories and imagined some alternate futures but I wanna know more fr.
The original Modern Warfare trilogy timeline has been closed. The 2019 reboot is a retconed new timeline that links itself to the Black Ops timeline & Sledgehammer WW2 timelines (making them all one timeline) and now the original MW trilogy (and by extention, Ghosts and Infinite Warfare) are now no longer mainline canon. The WaW/Black Ops storyline now is the main storyline of the franchise, but it seems even parts of those might be getting retconned too where Bo2, 3 & 4 arent canon either. Making the true canon all linked as just "The Warzone Timeline".
I can’t, someone who loves firearms and adores the history of them. I can’t stand what they did to it. If they played it off as diesel-punk alt-history WW2, I could get down with it. The fact they called it realistic and accurate is a punch in the gut.
I really enjoyed the campaign but I have to agree with you here. I was so hyped for the Operation Tonga mission set but the first thing I saw, when the character fell in the water, was a British paratrooper losing an M1 Garand? Then we get to the Lee Enfield finally and they have sliced the rear sight off of it and given it 5 rounds? What? Why!? I then got to the last damn mission to use a Bren Gun and it has a drum magazine hanging off the side of it. Is it supposed to be cool? What a disaster it was on that front.
If you like fire arm then forget about cod and play escape from tarkov, once you get into it evry other fps game will seem vastly inferior. Thr guns, the weapon modding, the sound detail, the high stakes while playing and adrenaline, how realistic it all looks and feels, and also it is a much evolved battle royale experience too. You wont regret it
When your paycheck is based on if the game is finished rather than if its good, it leads to developers doing the bare minimum. Plus being forced to make basically the same game year after year snuffs out any chance for creativity. Overall the franchise has been dying since BO3 and would be better off just putting a game out every two or three years.
literally every game developer pays based on hourly wages. The vast majority of game developers have more than enough passion to make good games as long as they aren't given too many restrictions, time or otherwise - which the developers of this game clearly were.
For the zombies part, from what I’ve seen on TH-cam, the reason why it’s considered bad is because the power scaling is more similar to cold war zombies back when it was rebalanced to having 4 times health cap. Since this first experience is a mode reflective of Outbreak, the scaling happens ridiculously fast if you are not stalling rounds. This results in the main strategy for zombie killing is to wait out their “live span” after reaching higher rounds. So, since there is no Easter egg, no wonderweapon to fight for, and the first round based map is still in the works the only option is to go for high rounds which consists of circling the zombies until they expire.

As a fan of zombies, the Vanguard iteration of the mode is just sad. So many features that we just expect to be there that have become a staple of the series just aren't there, and there are so many unnecessary changes that just feel unwelcome in the game mode. There's no wonder weapon, there's no easter egg, there's no barriers or traditional round, they decreased the amount of points per kill SIGNIFICANTLY (people were complaining about it being 90 points per kill in CW - it's 20 in Vanguard) The whole mode just lacks the passion that made the older games so fun, and there are two possible explanations IMO: either activision's time constraints are really so shit that they simply can't keep up, or they decided to focus more on the Outbreak-style gameplay from CW (which not so many og players liked) and completely alienate their original core audience in favour of Warzone players who will hop on zombies for 5-10 minutes and leave

Well, i guess portal fixes the whole issues
I agree. It's because 343 actually listened to fans and took the time to make the game better. COD and BF did the exact opposite of what everyone wanted.
Honestly the only I’m going to play is bf2042
So many people saying BF2042 was so trash based on the bugs when the devs have said that the vast majority of them were fixed before the beta even released
Halo infinite is fun as hell cant wait for the full thing
the issue with zombies isnt just how bare bones it is.
Zombies is "unplayable" after round 15. The difficulty curve is so drastic. It's two hit down later and if you don't have a shotgun, you're dead from what I see online.
You have to a zombie specific player, with 10yrs atleast cuz of how drastic the curve is now

They should just stop making games altogether.
It’s gonna be pretty hard though. How do you create a sequel to a story that was already boring and riddled with plot holes in the first place?
I think like a dieselpunk or steampunk ww2 could he really cool in terms of costomization
Don't expect any good ideas or some sort of fantasy from CoD. They killed the spirit long ago, this game only exists for cashgrab
Yeah these calibers are f**king comical lmao

@@juangarrido6923 The biggest shills are the streamers because they need to leech off every new CoD game to get subs and money
When your paycheck is based on if the game is finished rather than if its good, it leads to developers doing the bare minimum. Plus being forced to make basically the same game year after year snuffs out any chance for creativity. Overall the franchise has been dying since BO3 and would be better off just putting a game out every two or three years.
exactly
IMO they should drop a forever game basically like fortnite and just continue to update that and support that one game
@@scottyplayz Can't milk 60 to 100 bucks each year per game then can they?
literally every game developer pays based on hourly wages. The vast majority of game developers have more than enough passion to make good games as long as they aren't given too many restrictions, time or otherwise - which the developers of this game clearly were.
You've described not just CoD, but the gaming industry today as a whole.
“It’s like they went out of their way to take everything out that people liked about zombies”

@@takeshidbxv8644 The point is, I do and at least the people who liked the comment care too. "It's just naruto filler episodes'' Agreeable
The sad thing about zombies is that it was rushed and couldn’t be really fleshed out
As a fan of zombies, the Vanguard iteration of the mode is just sad. So many features that we just expect to be there that have become a staple of the series just aren't there, and there are so many unnecessary changes that just feel unwelcome in the game mode. There's no wonder weapon, there's no easter egg, there's no barriers or traditional round, they decreased the amount of points per kill SIGNIFICANTLY (people were complaining about it being 90 points per kill in CW - it's 20 in Vanguard)
The whole mode just lacks the passion that made the older games so fun, and there are two possible explanations IMO: either activision's time constraints are really so shit that they simply can't keep up, or they decided to focus more on the Outbreak-style gameplay from CW (which not so many og players liked) and completely alienate their original core audience in favour of Warzone players who will hop on zombies for 5-10 minutes and leave
I remember when it was called “nazi zombies”. Now people will start crying in the fetal position if they even have to say it.
