How do the stepper motors know what is the zero position?

      My question as well

Hello! Unfortunately the instrument currently doesn't have an auto zero. You have to zero it manually and fix it if it gets out of sync.
I'm looking into putting in some optical stops in a future verison.

    Hi, Trevor! How are you.
Wanted to ask you about different motors you use.
On what basis do you decide what motor to use, servo or stepper.
    Thank you.

Hello! Stepper motors don't have any limits. They just tell it "hey go left this many degrees (steps) left/right"
Servos have limits and are absolute. You tell it "Hey go to 50% of your travel"
Servos can be easier to implement because you don't have to deal with zeroing, but steppers are continuous.
Often times the cheap servos used in RC jitter so I basically do steppers for everything.

Do i need one arduino per gauge or can i use for multiple gauges

Instruments can share arduinos, as long as you don't run out of pins (or the limitations on the MobiFlight website)
