    These guys were so amazing on stage back in the early ninties. I was able to see them in concert at the Grand Palace in Branson Mo. Mark the main singer never stoped moving on stage. Their show was high energy. They have so many great songs two of my favorite songs by them is, The Walk and Some Girls Do. You will not be disappointed by any of their songs.

    It is a Paul Thorn song.....someone heard Paul and most likely told them it would be perfect for Sawyer Brown.....speaking of Paul Thorn,you might review his.. if I can get over her ( I can get over you)... and you could research and find he was a middle weight boxer,fought Roberto Duran to a draw....

    • @CarterCountyCruisers
      @CarterCountyCruisers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul Thorn is a story teller and his catalog is pretty deep. The fact that his dad was a preacher who started him out performing at tent revivals lead to the writing of this song.

    • @theman4884
      @theman4884 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul lost (like most people) to Duran in the sixth round. But he got a song out of it "I'd Rather be a Hammer the a Nail".
      Paul Thorn also what I consider the greatest love song of all time "I Don't Want to Know" and great song if you are feeling down "I Have a Good Day Every Now and Then".

    Writer Paul Thorn is a brilliant artist in his own right. Definitely worth a look at the original and any of his other stuff. Loved this version and video too! :)

      Sawyer Brown also covered Paul Thorn's 800 Pound Jesus. And Billy Ray Cyrus covered his song "Burn Down the Trailer Park".

    That was fun .... I never heard this one..... I had the pleasure of seeing them at the Grand Ole Opry in September .... what a performance ....high energy and the whole band is watching to see what the lead singer gonna do.... The Steel player is amazing ....I like there song “Some Girls Do”. Great reaction/review

      The Steel player is Robert Randolph check out his song "Amped Up". This song was written by Paul Thorn who has a lot of great songs.

  • @CarterCountyCruisers
    @CarterCountyCruisers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like Sawyer Brown's version but Paul Thorn, who wrote the song with his writing partner Billy Maddox, has some awesome live versions on here. Paul Thorn is another performer you should be checking out. After all any dude who went six rounds with Roberto Duran and then became a musician is worth some attention. I suggest Pimps & Preachers as it's autobiographical.

    I can't remember this song either. Sawer Brown was one of the top acts during the late 80's early 90's. You have got to get to the Judd's. I recommend "Rockin with the rythm of the Rain"

    A huge fan of the singer songwriter Paul Thorn that wrote this song. Sawyer Brown has covered a number of Thorn songs, including another video*. As said they story of this video is interesting. Robert Randolph was not originally planned to be in the recording of the song, but was in the studio when Sawyer Brown was recording the song and he asked to sit and just blew the doors off. The video was filmed several years after 911 in a rural area and they neglected to tell the towns people they were filming and there was going to be fireworks which resulted in a number of panicked calls to the local sheriff. I saw Paul Thorn in concert several times in Santa Cruz, CA and he is a very unique personality and song writer/ singer. As is usually the case watching someone like Thorn in concert you get to hear the background of a lot of his life and songs. Thorn was at one time in his life semi-pro boxer who actually went three rounds with Roberto Duran. He later wrote a song about it titled It's Better to be a Hammer than a Nail (you can imagine how well it went). Sawyer Brown and Thorn also have a unique Christian bent to their music which actually adds another layer to their songs rather than pigeon holing them as solely a Christian band. I like to think I have a varied interest in music, from classical, folk, rock, country, gospel, blues etc, but is stand alone my favorite videos of all time.
    *800 Pound Jesus; yes that's the name of the sond and spoiler alert, it's about a statue). Throrn has a cameo in the video as a homeless man/guardian angel for a little girl.

    You did another one of their tunes "All These years". It was a slow one...literally the opposite sound of this one. (Just mentioning it...the sound is so different, it's easy to forget they're the same band.)
    This one is closer to the rest of their songs: Uptempo, feel good, dance country...but you've covered the extreme ends of their sound.
