I definitely believe the key to raising healthy chickens starts in the brooder. Having more space, rather than less space, is key. Also, keep the chicks very warm. If they ever get cold or chilled you will have issues when they are about five weeks old. I think the coldness does something to their heart causing sudden deaths later on.

What hatchery do you use?
I use Meyer Hatchery. I have also used Freedom Ranger Hatchery with great results.
