Absolutely love this narrator, it’s been hard trying to find someone who held my attention after Penelope Keith and Graham Malcolm on the M C Beaton books, but so glad I have found one 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Barbara Rosenblat is the only reader who can do a British and an American accent well. This is because of her upbringing. She also narrates all of the Elizabeth Peters books which are wonderful!
I went to bed at 9:30pm - started to listen to this wonderful story and never closed my eyes till the last two words ‘The End’ ! What a fantastic story - I now am going to look for more stories by the author - the narrator did a fantastic job and held my interest to the end - Well Done, Thank You
Highly recommend this book. I want to name my next two rescues Beryl and Edwina. Thank you VJ for another brilliant introduction. Very talented narrator ❤
Fantastic! I am an Agatha Christie fan but Jessica Ellicott has it all wrapped up in her stories. Just loved it and I will have the pleasure of attentively listening to all the rest of her intriguing, artfully crafted master sleuths escipades as they continue to solve their murder mysteries.
Thanks VJ for the opportunity to hear work by this author - I will look for more from the library. Also I loved the narrator she does the two accents well. Look forward to more of your choices. I don’t know whether the authors get any royalties but some listeners use these freebies as a way in to new authors because we will look for physical copies of the book to buy or borrow from the library.
I have really enjoyed this audiobook. I did not have any advertisements in this book. I am looking forward to the next audiobook. The narrator was good.
Excellent story and expertly read. Thank you. It's also a great illustration of the British class system, you know, in which the betters do not do an honest day's work, and those who do all the work, the inferiors, are looked upon as being sub-human and to be kept in their place.
The narrator is excellent. She does all the voices, including the men, very well. And her voice for Beryl sounds like Shirley MacLaine. I wonder if she listened to MacLaine on Downton Abbey to polish it up a bit. She nailed it.
❤ it tuck me 4 days till the end but I enjoyed all of it.. great story and wonderful narrated. Thank you so much for sharing. I am looking forward to the next book. ❤
Hi V J… just found you and your wonderfull channel 🙋🏽♀️👍… so happy to subscribe… am looking forward to all of your murder mystery uploads… thank you🙋🏽♀️💐🌟
Oh. Dear. Lord. You are my answer to my prayers! PLEASE, PLEASE, PKEASE guide me to the Amelia Peabody audios....oh my gosh. And by my favorite Audio Lady??? She is amazing. She does Mrs. Pollifax series.
@@kellynewman8492 I found them back in the day on cassette then CD at the local library then more recently I’ve found them on scribd. They used to be “included with monthly membership” and Rosenblat does an AMAZING job with the narration. ❤️
I was hanging on every word by this amazing narrator. I was asking who did it. Was it the mechanic was it the doctor or the projector man or the owner of the theater. When I got to the very end I yelled "what!?"
Does anyone else think that perhaps Barbara Rosenblatt wrote some of these reviews herself? I find her voice a little off putting myself but will soldier on a little longer to see if I can adjust to her lower voice range.
Very cute, “Go Girls!”! Without turning to the cover-illustration, in what age-range does Everyone think the Ladies probably belong? …The amount of Life-experience, and the Readers (fabulous) voice cause Me to think of them as in their late-40s to 50s - but at one point in this book Beryl hopes that Edwina will still have the chance to bear children, which makes Me think that they are possibly in their late-30s(?). I’m curious to know how Other Listeners/Readers view E&B! (Lol! I had to laugh; when double-checking what I’d written above, I saw that spell-check had changed My words ‘bear children’ to ‘beat children’!😂😂😂😆😄😉 …I really don’t think that Beryl hates children THAT much!)
Post World War I As friends, the boisterous and brash American Beryl and the prim and proper British Edwina couldn't be less alike. But as sleuths in an England recovering from the Great War, they're the perfect match... 1920: Flying in the face of convention, legendary American adventuress Beryl Helliwell never fails to surprise and shock. The last thing her adoring public would expect is that she craves some peace and quiet. The humdrum hamlet of Walmsley Parva in the English countryside seems just the ticket. And, honestly, until America comes to its senses and repeals Prohibition, Beryl has no intention of returning stateside and subjecting herself to bathtub gin. For over three decades, Edwina Davenport has lived comfortably in Walmsley Parva, but the post-World War I bust has left her in dire financial straits and forced her to advertise for a lodger. When her long-lost school chum Beryl arrives on her doorstep - actually crashes into it in her red motorcar - Edwina welcomes her old friend as her new roommate. But her idyllic hometown has a hidden sinister side, and when the two friends are drawn in, they decide to set up shop as private inquiry agents, to both help Edwina make ends meet and to satisfy Beryl's thirst for adventure. Now this odd couple will need to put their heads together to catch a killer - before this sleepy English village becomes their final resting place...
OK fine. Then YOU read and record it and upload your own version! If you can't do it then just kwitcherbitchin'! Most listeners love Barbara Rosenblatt's reading!
