Would like to ask if the local people prefer houses rather than apartments? I guess one of the reasons is that most of the houses in UK are in freehold land and apartments in leasehold land for example 99 years or 999 years. Elaine Yip, most people of courses like to buy detached, semi-detached or terrace if they have money. You are right most of flat is 99 years lease but there are exceptions. You might need to pay community fee or maintenance fee for the building. 香港所謂的管理費或維修費。

Michael Cheung, I wish it’s a council house but it’s not. 4 bedroom house in that area is for sure over £800k. But that house is only for rent and not for sale.

d d, I just read the scheme a bit more and I’m confident you only pay rent up to the rest of % and not forever. Please note this scheme only applies to Leasehold (mostly flats) and not to freehold (houses).
Share ownership usually is for flat because we can only lease for 99 years unlike house which is freehold (you own forever). Retire House is only for people who are older than 60 to buy that property due to government subsidies.
