    Sorry for your loss, great video!

    I love watching these types of videos. Because I love handing out story problems just to see what you would do in certain types of situations. Your insight might just help me out one day.
    There is a driver named Jack. He once took a load out to Utah. The load paid pretty good money going in. Load traveled 1,291 loaded miles. It paid $3,678. Plus a fuel surcharge of $750. After he made his delivery they finally uploaded over ten loads to choose from. Prior to that there was zero loads on the board coming from that area. Some were low paying. The rest were decent to choose from. Jack took his 34 break. Next Jack took a load going into California that paid him $1,500 all inclusive. He searched the boards knowing that some areas sometimes have loads paying $6,500-$8,500 to run to the east coast. Plus they carry fuel surcharges that don’t make them all inclusive loads. He didn’t see those loads. Best load he could find paid $3,560 traveling 2,400 miles to Florida from Santa Nella California with a fuel surcharge of $800. A very lowballed load that had no negotiations for the load pay and fuel. So he jumped on it to get out of the area. Jack ended up in the same situation going from Tyler Tx to Ogden Ut. Same pay as before. Only this time they showed 3 loads. All going to Reno NV. All pick up on Friday and delivers the following week. Jack delivered on Wednesday. He tried to find loads that picked up and delivered that week so the money would go on the current pay cycle and not next week with all the fuel he put into the tank coming off the current pay cycle and not following the load. Nothing. Then suddenly they offered a load going from Pleasant View UT to Lawrenceville GA 1,887 loaded miles. Pay was $3,300 all inclusive rate. He thought about the fuel needed to make the delivery. He remembered that it took a ton of fuel on that California load to Florida. It was only 600 miles less than that load so he figured it would take nearly as much to make this load. Then he thought about the 35% they would take off the load. Plus the lease payment. Plus insurance. Plus buy back deductions. Plus maintenance (wear and tear) costs of hauling the loads. Plus escrow. He decides that the load just wasn’t worth the effort. So he passes on the load. The next load they offered was from Ogden UT to Marion IL. 1,433 loaded miles. Paid $1,850. Delivered the following morning at 08:00. A 1,433 mile drive over night. Knowing that was not possible for a solo driver he passed. However he did ask for an additional day to make good on delivery. They said no. The next load they brought him was from London UT to Palmetto GA pick up Friday delivers Tuesday. 1,913 loaded miles. Paid $2,500 all inclusive. Load weight 40,000. $1,300 of the all inclusive load was for fuel. He passes. The next load they present is from Ogden UT to Kansas City MO. 1,067 loaded miles. Paid $1,500 all inclusive. $725.56 portion was for fuel. It is now Friday. All the back and forth took place since Wednesday. At that point he knew that loads for picking up that week and delivering that same week was shot in the foot. So he inquired about the following week. They bring him a load from Salt Lake City UT to New Jersey. Loaded miles 2,173. Pay $3,800 all inclusive. How would you have handled this situation? Would you even head out west seeing that whenever you do lately the runs go dry on you. But Hack sees videos of others talking about all the money they make out in the west. He personally has made serious money in the past out west. It’s just recently things keep going dry on him out west. Regardless to what he hears from others on video. How would you handle the situation?

      I would get ahold of the current market analysis and start placing my truck into the markets that had good truck to load volumes where there are more freight than trucks in that area.

    I worked there in 2003. My first otr job. I was irresponsible to be honest. Didn't know nothing, and sucked. I wouldn't work there now not because they suck, but i make enuff on 1 investment to own a very expensive truck. I payed cash for my volvo, stretched frame , oversized steeper out door shower, and my dividends cover the fuel. They don't have the freight i would pull for my 48 foot flatbed trailer. I just out grew that stuff . Nothing on the company.

    that was a good honest review my friend. I actually work for usa truck. But as a company driver. still don't feel ready to go IC. Especially with how everything in trucking is going right now. But i run a shuttle lane from tipp city, ohio to Valley Grove, Wes virginia. good solid predictable miles, and home everyday😁👍

      Buddy if your home everyday with the family and happy. I would not trade that for a truck note and dollar signs. I always try to be as transparent as possible, but if your not ready just don’t rush it.
      Stick to what your comfortable with and work it to make your dreams come true.

    What’s the best company that you would recommend for someone like me fixing to get into Trucking. I’m single no kids no bills except for my cell phone. I plan on living in my Truck stack my money and run hard for 1-2 years then travel. Remember I have no bills so I can save up a lot of money. I’m looking to go to a Company that’s going to train me for my CDL and will have to stay one year so I don’t have to pay the money back for my CDL training 👍

    • @dirtroadsalvation
      @dirtroadsalvation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest I’m not a subject matter expert on this specific question. The companies that do this type of program have changed a lot since I got my cdl. There a numerous ones out there but as far as which one is the best will require some research. My best advice is go with one that will 1, train you properly and not turn you out like a puppy mill. And 2, has actually experienced meteors not ones that have only drive 3-6 months. Lastly 3, one that has you spend more than just a week or two with a mentor, because two weeks with one just is not adequate to be able to encounter all the different types of scenarios that you will encounter out here on the road. Bonus 4 find a carrier close to where you live. You have no idea how Convenient it is to be able to leave your personal vehicle there and when you come in from the road to be able to park your big truck grab your POV and just go home without having to have someone come pick you up

    I am new to your page and I appreciate the video, it was very informative. I just received my CDL A and I am looking to team drive with a family member under the authority of a good company. I have been researching USA trucking and they seem like a good company. Right now my family member is operating under the authority of DART and they are not very happy with being an owner operator for that company for various reasons. In your opinion would USA trucking be a decent company to contract with and keep us running of should we consider looking into other companies? So far I have researched Covenant and USA trucking and have been getting mixed messages on the reviews. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing back from you soon!
