Great video! I just wanted to ask why its not recording my steps correctly. My 5km run today was fine but i walk a lot. I started using the garmin yesterday.
I really like your style of reviewing. It’s great that you take the watch out on a run a show us what happens when you are actually using it for what it’s designed for, unlike other reviewers which just show in their recording space while sitting still. Thanks for making it a realistic and practical video. Keep it up 👍
2023 and still considering the 45 as my entry running watch! I basically want it for running my series, long runs... just need the pace and time, I hope it's the best choice! thanks for your review, pretty useful!
Really helpful and comprehensive review and as mentioned by others, helped that you showed the watch being used on a run! Agree that average pace is good to know whilst running so glad you showed that too. I've made my decision to purchase based on the video as an upgrade from the older model Garmin I inherited from my wife!
Treated myself to this watch which arrived yesterday. Which I seen this review first, got in a right grump trying to set it up and sync to phone!! First run this morning and I'm going to really enjoy owning this. Have downloaded the 10k training plan as I'm trying to get back to my pb after a couple of years of injury etc. Great video, thank you so much!
Thanks for the detailed review, very helpful! I am a 53 year old Park Runner, I don’t have a running watch so this looks like the perfect aid to help me improve my times. Looking forward to the 45 vs 245 comparison, I really like the more detailed customisable data screens on the 245 but I don’t need the extra features so for my needs I think the 45 looks more than sufficient.
Hey Geoff, fellow park runner! I think it will do you great especially as you don't have one currently. The comparison will be up by the end of the weekend, it has quite a bit of side by side comparison, hope it helps. Thanks for your comment 😎
Hi Thanks for your videos especially the FR45 review. I started running earlier this year, who knew that I'd enjoy running as I hadn't done that since leaving school alooong time ago! I have now joined a running club and bought the 45. Its my first sports watch (obv) and I agree that it's brilliant. Now need to sign up for a race and set up the family alerts as you showed in your video!
Cheers Kevin. Like you I had a huge break after school and when I got into it I loved it, it does so much for you. Definitely sign up for a race, that target focuses your runs so much. Good luck 😎
Ha ha ha like the comment "I'll move when i want!" I've just got the 245 and my wife the 45. This really helped getting them set up quick cos everybody hates reading through instructions takes for ever, rather spend the time running. Great for the finer details such as distance, time and pace/speed on display screens. I've subscribed, cheers man.👍
Hi really enjoying watching your videos, just bought myself a 45 your videos have really helped setting up the watch , not to technical me ,aged 61 Been really enjoying my running Parkrun Orienteering and Hashing, done a couple of 10k races was going to run a half marathon on the coast path ,but son was worried about me having a heart attack so have got the watch to keep an eye on my heart rate .. thanks again
Great review! I was undecided between this and Forerunner 235 and having watched you other reviews, I now made my mind up.Thank you very much for these videos. Liked your presentation style which contained all the information I wanted to know. Good luck with your channel.
Great review! I came here after watching another review of this watch, where the guy did not actually take it for a run. I'm currently using the Forerunner 35 and my upgrade budget includes this and the F235 (not 245).
Thanks for that Jackson M. The channel is just under 2 months old, love the feedback there. You will see a big upgrade on them both, I hope you know which one to get as it's not an easy choice. Keep running mate!
@@shanebow Oh wow! A new channel. I've put a few of your videos to my playlist. A suggestion is when you're not reviewing phones, to upload videos of races you take part in. Perhaps your training schedule or food.
Great review! I'm not a runner and I bought this for more casual exercise on my spin bike. Got it for £52 off amazon! (129.99 reduced to £102.99 then I used a £50 gift card from work). Feels like a bargain for the money I spent!
Great video, only found your channel yesterday, great to have a English one instead of American,I’m shortlisting between a 45 and 245,and waiting till Black Friday though I’m not expecting these two to come down much as there newer models, currently have a Fitbit versa, but struggling to see the data clearly without my reading glasses on(joys of getting old) keep up the great work looking forward to the next video now I’m subscribed.
Great video and useful information! I just ordered 45s online and look forward to using it. I bought my vivosmart4 in Nov 2018 and have been using it til now. I'm a beginner runner and through last 6 months have built distance/pace to 5km/35-40min. So it's time to upgrade from tracker to gps watch.
Not been in to running long ,but I play a lot of lower league rugby for many years , much prefer the hill running ,hope to change watch face to two fields. Distance and HR hope they will be a little bigger and easier to see .Thanks again..
Thankyou so much for this review, I am currently tossing up between the 45 and 245. At the moment I'm leaning towards the 45s (for my tiny wrists!) because I'm not so serious a runner that I think I need the extra features/data the 245 brings. Going over to watch the video now though and see what I think! Thanks again, just subscribed :)
Cheers for that!! They are both great. Getting the 45 is a great for a bit so serious runner. You are still buying an awesome watch if you decide on that one
They are so similar. If you like the look of the VA3 I'd go for that especially if you can use the contactless payments with your bank. Cheers for the comments 😎
Great Review Shanebow. I am confused between F45 and F245. I am a casual football player and want to measure distance/HR/speed. Which one would you recommend for it? Also Connect IQ has some decent apps which gives those readings. Can I pair connect IQ to F45? If not should I buy F245? Thank you in advance
The F45 can only install watch faces from IQ store. 100% go for the 245 you won't be disappointed, it's an awesome watch! Cheers for your comments and good luck!!!
To look at the headline differences the 235 can have extra data screens and widgets that you can install from the Garmin connect store. The data screens I find helpful when running in races or training for a big race. There are some great deals out there on the 235 at the minute. On the other hand the 45 screen looks really nice - it has a circular screen and I think the whole watch looks smarter. The 45 user interface is much quicker and sleeker too giving you access to options faster. The 235 is really capable and helped me train for 2 marathons. If you are not wanting the extra data screens I'd go with the 45. Hope that helps...
@@shanebow Thanks Shane, that helps a lot. The extra data would definitely help while running. Is there really no way to get more than 3 data fields on the 45? Would the custom data page you used on the 245 not work on the 45? It's a bummer having to consider the 4 year old 235 just over data display.
Boss review Shanebow was hearing good things about the 245 but also the 45 of fellow runners, it looks like the 45 is the winner for me as it can do what I need looking at this video, the money saved can go on some other running gear now haha cheers pal 👍
Thanks, all your videos have been super helpful. I am looking at the 45s and 245. My main reason I would go for the 45s is the size as I have slim wrists and am a bit concerned the 245 would look huge on. However I think I would always feel a little frustrated at the fact that while running there are only 3 bits of data on screen (without swiping), I'd rather have time/distance/pace and average pace. Have you seen the 45s and what is your feeling about size difference between that and 245, should I just go big and get the 245? I do worry if I got the 45s I'd be a little dissatisfied. Any thoughts....
Hey Jesus! It depends what level you are at and what your focus is. If this is your first GPS watch I'd say just get used to the other stats first. The monitor is more accurate and gives you a more up to date reading... So if your heart slows then the strap would register it quicker. This watch will accept a heart rate monitor. I'd say see how you get on with it and if you want a strap after a bit go for it!!. Thanks for the comments Jesus
Great review, thanks! I got into Park Run last year, and love it! Though I've always found it a hassle using my phone to record data (and it's not proven to have a very accurate GPS!). This Forerunner 45 looks perfect, cheers.
Hi Shane. Great review. I’m considering Forerunner 45 or the Forerunner 735XT. I only run, walk and go kayaking. Will the 45 be able to track my kayaking? Would I use the “cardio” setting for this and would it show my route afterwards? Thanks. Anton
The Garmin forerunner 245 is a great watch if you are just running. If you want triathlon or run for 6 hours plus spend a bit more. Consider the 245 music as well as that will store music and send it to wireless headphones.
Great Review!!!! According Your opinion, is Recomendation FR45 or FR235? In view of the Accuracy of the GPS, Heart Rate, and Completness of the data results of The run. Im just use to Runinng. Comment Please.
Thanks so much. I would choose the 235 for sure. The data screens being my main reason. If you've not already seen it I've got a data screen video... This wil show you if it'll benefit you or not. The data screens aren't on the 45. Thanks for your comments, stay safe!!!
Thanks for the video!! One doubt: When using my HRM-DUAL How can I know through the screen that I am using this sensor and not the one in the wrist?? Once I stop recording exercise. Do I have to manually go back to wrist sensor?? Thanks :)
Hey Jesus it really doesn't make it too clear does it. There should be a symbol or something showing or a disconnect reconnect option. I used to get it to connect just at the run screen see that it was connected then confirm the run. I only used the strap a few times. When it was edited out of the run it would disconnect. I bought one to make a video to make a comparison but it was turning into quite a complicated video so I canned it. I will look at doing it again possibly in the next few months. Cheers for commenting again.
Thanks for the brilliant review! Only one more question from my side - Does this watch have an option that summarizes the physical activity for the whole day (eg running and cycling) and shows the percentage or otherwise of the overall activity for the day?
Hi! Thanks for the review! It was great and you really went into details. One thing I kinda missed - how reliable the HRM data is? You showed that how quick it catches up, but -if I remember well- you doesn't said a thing about how precise it is. I'm kinda on the edge between the Polar M430 and the FR 45. What are your toughts? I'm started to run 2 months ago, I'm doing 10km runs now, and I'm planning to do a half marathon (not in a race, but for "free run" if it's a thing) for the end of september. I need a watch that has good GPS, reliable o-HRM (but a chest strap is OK for me too), and I can see the main data at a glance - dist., avg. pace and HR. Oh, and it's good if the watch is around or under 200$. I never had a running watch before, so I have no brand-fetish. I just want something that is better than holding my phone in my hand over the entire running session and checking basic info on it. Thanks for your insights in advance, and thanks for the video again!
Hey Péter, thanks for your questions. The HRM data will be good but not as good as a strap. If the accuracy is really important then I'd consider getting a strap... But just consider why you want the data. For me its important to see an improvement over time. For example when I started running 10ks my heart rate would often end up around 180, over time I could see improvement to 160 on the same watch. This showed that my interval training and increased running schedule was paying back and it was awesome seeing that data and just pushed me further. They both work with straps so maybe see how you get on with the built in and then look for a strap later. . M430 has been out 2 years and is still a capable watch.... For me it would be the 45: Better battery, much better looking model (unless you want that kind of look), the 430 will only measure heart rate when you tell it to or if in exercise, the 45 will do it throughout the day. BUT... there are some great m430 deals out there right now. Your running journey is amazing and inspiring that you are looking to do the half marathon distance already! Love it!!!! I would consider trying to listen to your heart when running and not worrying too much about the watch stats too much about heart rate during the run - look at them after and analyse it when you're back home 'Run by Feel'. I Hope this helps..
Hi! Thanks for the answer!! As I have read your thoughts about the HRM accuray, I have to say that you're right! I also want it to see improvement, and keep myself within HR-zones. I don't /need/ the EKG-level of accuracy, but having something with me that is accurate enought to trust would be good. Right now I indeed "run by feel", and that is OK for me, altought other runners said that my pace is too fast (I have 5:20 minutes/km on average; around 5:05 as fastest and 5:35 as slowest), and I have to slow down to be efficient. But I don't feel that I burn out myself completely, so probably my body is quite fine with that speed. M430 is in the hat because of the price, but the price difference between the M430 and the FR 45 is not that big. I'm actually gravitating towards the FR 45, and your review and answer also a big push on me to get that watch. At the end of June there is my name-day (it's an European thing), and I know that what will be the gift for myself. :-)) Thanks for your answer again, I'm waiting for the next vid! Keep up the good work! :-)
Hello mate I am looking at burying the garmin 45 bit I have a few questions! Can you use Spotify on it ? Or is it download songs to the device ? Do you need your phone on you to listen to music and or what sort of distance can you have your phone away from the watch? Can you make your own interval plan on it as I mainly do sprints and Fartlek
Hey Joe, unfortunately the 45 can't handle music... But you can on the 245 music model without your phone. The 45 will do interval training and it's easy to set up too. Hope this helps
Great review! I'm holding out for the new Fenix 6 whenever it's released. Unfortunately I have the 645 Music which I love but really am interested in the new metrics including Body Battery. Could you do a more detailed review on that after a couple of weeks just to hear your thoughts on it's worth. Subbed!
Used my new 45 for three runs now. It's a nicer watch than my older 25 and has tracked my runs well but the software/firmware is rather buggy. Pace stayed set to miles until an update and it still needed a trick to change it to km. Most of the downloadable watch faces simply crash out and restart the watch and customised data fields keep resetting back to the default layouts. Reading forums confirms it's not just my watch and people are have many other issues. Maybe these sort of issues are normal for newly released watches and Garmin will support it with future updates. Hope so.
I had this same issue. Peace always be in miles not in km. A couldn't change it. But suddenly somehow after a week it changed for km and now still working excellent
Yes it can seemlessly. I've found you a link here support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918057-Garmin-and-Strava?mobile_site=true Thanks for the comments 😎
Hello. I have Garmin Vivomove HR now, but really thinking about getting FR 45. I am gonna use it for running/walking/cycling. I hope it is better than Vivomove HR. Your review is really nice one :)
@@shanebow I have one question about active calories. I am wondering if i get this FR45 will be different the calculation of calories based on GPS? Or GPS is just for you ti see exactly the distance that you made. So if I am just wondering the calories I spent on running or something else should I get this FR45 or stick with Vivomove HR?
Thanks for the awesome review. After 10 years Polar I just tried this Garmin FR45 and for me it's lights and shadows - but more bright lights than Polar :). Question: On the running screen, there are no icons, is that right? Like a heart icon next to the heart rate measurement, or a clock icon next to the time measurement? Only digits? So I have to keep in mind what I'm actually measuring on the 2 or 3 screens I programmed? Best regards, Martin
This review is wonderful, thank you for this. I have a questions regarding workouts...you mentioned the "workouts" section, can you add your workouts or is that for the "garmin coach" basic plans? Also, can this watch be used in the pool? Those are the two things I am currently looking for in a Garmin. Thank you in advance.
Around 11:15 when you were showing the features. I was asking if you are able to input say an interval running workout or speed workout for example or does it just give you “workouts” you can choose from?
Hey man , I really like the 245 music features butat the same time I kinda don't want to spend 375 with tax on a new watch . So right now I'm torn between the instinct and this watch . I only run up to 5 miles the most a day . What do you recommend ? I also do cycling . I tried to find you on Instagram but couldn't
Hey Social Bender! Sorry for the late reply, your comment got flagged as spam. I am on instagram but don't promote it because I just don't have enough time to make it great. I'm at instagram.com/shanebow.uk
Nice video. However, no one does, in the video, check the accuracy of the results. For example - I run, look at the clock which shows how many heartbeats, and then I put my hand on the carotid artery, count and compare the result. Why doesn't anyone do that? This is how everything is received without discussion. What matters to me is whether I can trust the results that the watch shows me. I hope for an answer. Greeting
No I just really like to. I sometimes like to take a photo but I like the security of being contactable and bring able to call for help. Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it
Hi.. I want to ask about the screen when we running.. How much screen can we use when we running? I mean.. if we take pace/ heart rate/ distance on 1st screen.. Is it 2nd screen that can we use to put others field? Did you get what I want to ask?
Shanebow - Running & Tech ok.. I got it.. Thanks for the response.. Actually I'm confused weather to choose fr45 or fr245 just because the item that we can see on screen at a time.. The fr45 with 3 fields on a screen and 3 more on next screen maybe enough and affordable for me 😁
@@shanebow thanks for your reply ... actually I unable to decide between 45 vs 245 ..I run or rather walk daliy 5 km and and 10 km every alternate Sunday with pace of 9 min/km .45 is good option and economical too but I would prefer to have avg pace and HR rate on same screen ... So just wondering should I spend more for 245 as won't want to regret in future or considering the fact that I am not good runner as of now should settle with 45 ... Looking forward for your advice
Amit, you're good... you're commited and going out regularly which is something a lot of people struggle with. You're also looking at getting something that's going to make you even better. These are great steps to take... You're going to get faster I promise!! If you're going to keep at running and not look to change for a good few years the money can be easily justified if you break down the extra per month. It'll be a good reminder that you've invested in yourself! Keep pushing yourself, but don't get injured. Setup a training plan with Garmin coach. Only 3 years ago did I enter my first 10k, things can change really quickly when you put the commitment in. It would be great to hear how you are doing in a few months time. I will remember this comment. Go smash it!!!!!
Bit late to the party on this one, but great review, thanks. I'm getting back into my running, I'm also 54 so it's a journey!! Really like the idea of the coaching app with this watch as I'm planning on getting upto doing another marathon, have you used the coaching app? Again, thanks.
Hey Spence! Welcome to the party, it's never to late mate. Glad to hear you're getting back into running, I like the journey mindset. You could be doing an ultra marathon in a few years. To be honest I've played with the coaching app but only used the marathon training that is now only available to install from the website. I really recommend them. Cheers for the great comments 😎👍
Thank you for the detailed review! Very helpful. I know a lot of people like to compare the 45 with the 245, but I am more interested in a comparison with the 235 since the two models are now roughly in the same price range. Wonder what your opinion is. Also, just curious, I believe you live in the UK, so why use miles? Haha
Love the questions... I measure distance mainly in metric until it comes to long distances we kind of move from metres to miles. To make it more complex, I weigh myself in kgs but my wife uses pounds and ounces so it's like we are talking a different language. My car has miles per hour. The story goes that the UK government didn't want to update road signs after signing up to metric with Europe so miles just stayed. Miles seems so natural to me to be honest. If you want a watch that looks nicer, has a better round screen (the 235 is flat at top and bottom) and has a faster and sleeker user interface go for the 45. If you want to see more data on the screen at the same time or take advantage of 3rd party data screens go for the 235. Hope that helps
Shanebow Really appreciate your feedback! 45 it will be then. And if it makes you feel any better, I live in China where people mixes up the miles system, the metric system and the local Chinese system all the time. So confusing haha
@@shanebow - can you set it to show instantaneous pace and (perhaps on a different screen) your average pace? Note to self: watch the whole video before asking questions, haha. (yes it appears you can do this)
This watch is overall very good, but the only criticism I have is that it doesnt display the precise running pace during the race (it does when you finish the race). The pacing increments or decrements of 5 seconds can be inconvenient, especially when running at demanding speeds. It would be more helpful to see the exact pace, such as 3:38 min/km or 4:42 min/km and not 4:30 - 4:35 - 4:40, for more accurate monitoring.
Hey man this video was great! Honestly the best one i've seen out there, you are far too underrated. I have a couple of questions because i'm planning on buying it How good is the battery? Im probably gonna run every other day and bike a couple of times a week also How accurate is the pace and heart rate and stuff? sorry if these questions are hard to answer, thanks again! edit:nevermind that second question lol seems very accurate
I’ve seen you’ve put some good work into your channel and haven’t posted for a bit, do something like running vlogs! Or make videos about your journey as a human, you’re a pretty interesting guy I’m sure you could make some pretty good videos
Can you help me with finding information on how 'running an already existing course', looks like ? The Garmin Fenix 6 pro you just have to follow the course line infront of you but how does this work on this watch?
It's fine 😎 you can add the following on Garmin connect app... You can then select them on the watch... Indoor Track, Bike Indoor, Walk Indoor, Elliptical, Stair Stepper, Yoga and 'other' hope that helps
@@shanebow Perfect. Only one more question... Can I run with this watch and charge at the same time? I'm going to run an Ultramarathon and I need to recharge with a power bank while I'm running.
With other Garmin's you can, but I'm not sure with this model. You need to charge whilst GPS is running and the watch needs to be able to store a lot of data. Good luck on that Ultra!!
Hi. Questions if you don't mind please? I currently have a FR25 and want to upgrade to a watch with vibrate. I'm comparing the 35 and 45. Do both the 35 and 45 vibrate equally strong enough so you never/rarely miss an alert? I wear earphones so cannot hear the beeps. Does the 45 control music volume and skip tracks on a paired android phone? Thank you.
The 45 will skip tracks and change volume for you. I only used the 35 a little bit as my wife had one for a little bit and never compared the buzzing sorry. I would usually give pros and cons and try and leave the decision with you... But in this case I promise you the 45 is massively superior to the 35 it's a definite winner as it's such a big enhancement, looks a lot smarter too!
Nice review. I’m new to your channel and I’ll probably sub as well. There’s a big sale on these right now (in Vancouver at least). I recently bought the Fenix 6x and it’s seriously changed my life. Or I changed and the watch came along with me 😝 anyway, I’m thinking of getting the 45s for my girlfriend. A gentle way of saying “get off the Covid couch” 😝😝wish me luck. Keep up with the videos!
Yeah I was there in 2006. Been to Courtney on the island for a few summers too. Lovely place and lovely people. I discovered sushi for the first time whilst I was there too! I will be back in Canada in a few years I hope 😎

Great review! I'm not a runner and I bought this for more casual exercise on my spin bike. Got it for £52 off amazon! (129.99 reduced to £102.99 then I used a £50 gift card from work). Feels like a bargain for the money I spent!
That's an awesome price... While I've got you... Have you tried running? 😉🏃😎👍
Loud music out of no where. My cat got spooked and clawed the crap out of my crotch. Thanks dude
I love the way you review. The real running!
Thanks so much! Love hearing that!!!🥇😎
Great video, only found your channel yesterday, great to have a English one instead of American,I’m shortlisting between a 45 and 245,and waiting till Black Friday though I’m not expecting these two to come down much as there newer models, currently have a Fitbit versa, but struggling to see the data clearly without my reading glasses on(joys of getting old) keep up the great work looking forward to the next video now I’m subscribed.
@@lizbee726 I got the forerunner 245 music, fantastic watch, still going strong no issues two year on.👍🏻
Great video and useful information! I just ordered 45s online and look forward to using it. I bought my vivosmart4 in Nov 2018 and have been using it til now. I'm a beginner runner and through last 6 months have built distance/pace to 5km/35-40min. So it's time to upgrade from tracker to gps watch.
Well done Jeanne! Stay on that journey!🏃🤣
@@shanebow definitely staying on this journey Haha now that more $$ has been invested🤣
Not been in to running long ,but I play a lot of lower league rugby for many years , much prefer the hill running ,hope to change watch face to two fields. Distance and HR hope they will be a little bigger and easier to see .Thanks again..
Hey Alan! Cheers mate. It will deffo make it easier. Enjoy your running 😎🥇
What pace were you lacking? Current split pace? What does it show current pace?
Finally a decent review! Thank you !
I am unable to decide amid Forerunner 45 or vivoactive 3.... Any recommendations? Thanks !
Thanks for the thorough analysis. Given the price similarities, which one would you recommend, this or the FR235? I'm a confused between the two.
I know where you are coming from. I guess Garmin want to hold back some features for the higher models.
Just got mine today 😁 loving it so far
Boss review Shanebow was hearing good things about the 245 but also the 45 of fellow runners, it looks like the 45 is the winner for me as it can do what I need looking at this video, the money saved can go on some other running gear now haha cheers pal 👍
It's an absolute solid watch! Enjoy. Cheers for the awesome comments, I really appreciate it!
You have great way to reviewing... Congratulations and thank you for the info.
Thanks for that!
Hey man, just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos.
Cheers Vincent! 😎
Thanks for this great video :)
A quick one:
Does it worth to buy external monitor strap for this watch?
Does it make a difference training??
Thanks for the review - do you think the battery life is actually close to what is claimed? Also can you switch it to Km instead of miles? Thanks!
Very close. Yes it'll ask you about Kms when you setup. Thanks for the comments 😎
Great review, thanks! I got into Park Run last year, and love it! Though I've always found it a hassle using my phone to record data (and it's not proven to have a very accurate GPS!). This Forerunner 45 looks perfect, cheers.
A great parkrun watch! Will be great to glance at on the way round
Just purchased this watch. Can't wait
Zain, you're in for a treat!!! Enjoy mate
Shanebow - Running & Tech not for now atleast haha. Gotta wait for everything to go back to normal then I can go out running again
Hi Shane. Great review. I’m considering Forerunner 45 or the Forerunner 735XT. I only run, walk and go kayaking. Will the 45 be able to track my kayaking? Would I use the “cardio” setting for this and would it show my route afterwards? Thanks. Anton
Hy, is it water resistant?
Thank you.
Sure is 👍
Hello. If you tell me witch GPS you used? Witch chose is the best on this watch?
@@shanebow can you share to me your video about data screen FR235 and FR45? Because im confused about which one to choose.
Thanks for the video!!
One doubt:
When using my HRM-DUAL
How can I know through the screen that I am using this sensor and not the one in the wrist??
Once I stop recording exercise. Do I have to manually go back to wrist sensor??
Thanks :)
Hey Jesus it really doesn't make it too clear does it. There should be a symbol or something showing or a disconnect reconnect option. I used to get it to connect just at the run screen see that it was connected then confirm the run. I only used the strap a few times. When it was edited out of the run it would disconnect. I bought one to make a video to make a comparison but it was turning into quite a complicated video so I canned it. I will look at doing it again possibly in the next few months. Cheers for commenting again.
Shanebow - Running & Tech that would be great!!
Thanks and keep the good work 👌
Do you also need to carry your phone with you while running?
Thx mate, just bought it after your review!
No worries pal. Glad to hear. Enjoy! 😎
Great video mate, I actually bought one because of this video. I was wondering is there anyway you can increase the data screens from 3 to 5?
Cheers mate. Just 3, but press down for more. Have some awesome runs this summer!! 😎👍
@@shanebow will do thanks and keep the good work up.
Great review Shane! Keep it up mate!
Thanks for your answer again, I'm waiting for the next vid! Keep up the good work! :-)
I have a FR35 which takes an age to get a GPS lock. Does the FR45 lock a GPS signal any quicker as it also has Glonass and Galileo? Thanks.
How strong is the vibration? Will it wake you up?
For sure
Hello mate I am looking at burying the garmin 45 bit I have a few questions!
Can you use Spotify on it ? Or is it download songs to the device ?
Do you need your phone on you to listen to music and or what sort of distance can you have your phone away from the watch?
Can you make your own interval plan on it as I mainly do sprints and Fartlek
Hey Joe, unfortunately the 45 can't handle music... But you can on the 245 music model without your phone.
The 45 will do interval training and it's easy to set up too. Hope this helps
Hi mate, i have seen that you can create trainings for time, pace, heart rate zones. Do you have a review on that?
Great review! I'm holding out for the new Fenix 6 whenever it's released. Unfortunately I have the 645 Music which I love but really am interested in the new metrics including Body Battery. Could you do a more detailed review on that after a couple of weeks just to hear your thoughts on it's worth. Subbed!
Thanks loads! Body battery coming up...
Hope so.
btw, i'm providing feedback about the watch and not in anyway being negative about your great review.
I had this same issue. Peace always be in miles not in km. A couldn't change it. But suddenly somehow after a week it changed for km and now still working excellent
Thanks Lemons 😎
Hi does this watch measure cadence? Also can you easily change it from miles to km? Thanks!
Hi Griffy, yes it does. And yes it's very easy to change.

Hello. I have Garmin Vivomove HR now, but really thinking about getting FR 45. I am gonna use it for running/walking/cycling. I hope it is better than Vivomove HR. Your review is really nice one :)
Thanks for your comments, yes 100% better for running - it's a whole new ball game and a good choice for a first GPS watch. Go for it! 😎🏃🏃
Best regards,
Martin
Hey Martin! You are right, no icons and only digits
Is there not a way to set every second recording?
This review is wonderful, thank you for this. I have a questions regarding workouts...you mentioned the "workouts" section, can you add your workouts or is that for the "garmin coach" basic plans? Also, can this watch be used in the pool? Those are the two things I am currently looking for in a Garmin. Thank you in advance.
Thanks so much for your comments!!! Where in the video do I mention that? Thanks
@@shanebow cool man well I gave you a follow anyways .
Greeting
Can you change the pace on the watch from miles to km
do you need to carry your phone when running? love the video
No I just really like to. I sometimes like to take a photo but I like the security of being contactable and bring able to call for help. Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it
how to change mile to km in FR45... thank you
Can this watch upload to Garmin Connect on a Mac computer, rather than a phone? As I do with Garmin Edge 200.
Can you run with just the watch by itself without having your phone on hand?
You sure can. The GPS is built into the watch so you can leave you phone at home 👍😎
Hi.. I want to ask about the screen when we running.. How much screen can we use when we running? I mean.. if we take pace/ heart rate/ distance on 1st screen.. Is it 2nd screen that can we use to put others field? Did you get what I want to ask?
Hi, you could have 3 items on a screen then press down for another 3. 😎
Shanebow - Running & Tech ok.. I got it.. Thanks for the response.. Actually I'm confused weather to choose fr45 or fr245 just because the item that we can see on screen at a time.. The fr45 with 3 fields on a screen and 3 more on next screen maybe enough and affordable for me 😁
Really great overview and review, thanks.

Will it do the race predictor?
Hey MT. Yes it will.
Can we add average pace to display instead of current pace on the screen while we are running?
Yeah you sure can. Average pace is my favourite measure when out running
@@shanebow - can you set it to show instantaneous pace and (perhaps on a different screen) your average pace?
Note to self: watch the whole video before asking questions, haha. (yes it appears you can do this)
Yes you can! 😎
I have a couple of questions because i'm planning on buying it
How good is the battery? Im probably gonna run every other day and bike a couple of times a week
also
How accurate is the pace and heart rate and stuff?
sorry if these questions are hard to answer, thanks again!
edit:nevermind that second question lol seems very accurate
Cheers Rohan. Depending on your distance should get around 5 days of battery mate. The HR sensor is pretty good too.
Thanks for the comments 👍
