    I usually disagree when people say a certain anime is underrated. But MAN kodocha is SO underrated, barely anyone knows about it. Thats funny to me because its probably one of my favorite animes. I've watched it 3 times now in between my stressed uni semesters and it always helped me get a good mood just like when watching Alice Academy

    She sounds very similar to Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket in terms of complexity, hiding an immense amount of trauma under a smile, and having such enormous empathy that she keeps putting the needs of others before herself to the point where it becomes a plot point that she needs to think of her own wants and needs more. Heck, from the sounds of that one clip they even share a voice actress!

  • @guilhermemonteiro1998
    @guilhermemonteiro1998 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    Totally agree!! Seriously, her past shocked me a lot. Can't even believe she had to hide such pain for so long, I just thought she was going to be the cheerful character stereotype, but no, she's so much more than that. The fact that she always acted so professional at work, the fact she basically saved a boy that was violent and choked her and was able to become best friends with him, the fact she experienced heartbreak a lot of times, still being positive that everythink would eventually be ok... And yeah, most importantly I think : she actually CONFRONTED her birth mom, and was brave enough to say "to be totally honest, you don't interest me at all" (at least in the japanese version, don't know how it was translated in the english dub). She's able to stand her ground, which is amazing, coming from a Shoujo female protagonist. The only thing that I think was missing in your video though was how she went to New York with Naozumi, leaving Akito behind. If Akito was just a crush it wouldn't be that hard, but she was DEEPLY in love with him. She went through so much with him, and still was like "he chose Fuka", accepted it, and turned away. She even had to forget him for a while since she needed to stay focused on her performance with Naozumi. Amazing psychological strength

    Ah! Kodomo Omocha! I have all the English Kodocha DVDs. I loved this show so much growing up. Sana really had to deal with a lot, I mean, so did Akito and Natsume, but still. I always loved how she wouldn't let the boys bully the teacher or other girls.

    I remember watching Kodocha on Colours TV, which now feels like a fever dream, because it was a channel that I would watch some anime on as a child, it's where I was first introduced to Fruits Basket (Funny enough, Laura Bailey ends up voicing Tohru Honda in this anime as well, like she does Sana in Kodocha), Case Closed, Spiral, etc. and if I remember correctly, it's anime block was such a short lived thing.
    I do know the anime wasn't fully dubbed and was surprised to research it years later, to find out the characters end up being in middle school and the second arc was a thing.

Hearing somebody other than me in my own thoughts Actually acknowledge how deep and compelling this series’ story and characters are is insane, and put out online for others to share?!?! LITERALLY SO EXTRAORDINARY!!! You’re a SUPERSTAR!!!

    Today I just finished kodocha "all 102 episodes" because you mentioned it and DAMN, I don't know what to comment about it but, I insanely relate to sana , kinda feel bad for naozumi for being left again,plus , I'm sorry but I seriously hated akito for dating fuka as a replacement of Sana , the breakdown she had after she knew about it was crazy, I hate the fact that fuka already knew akito and sana were a "thing" but didn't care and started dating akito behind her back in the excuse of "sana being naiive" like IT'S NOT EVEN HER FAULT WTF? It's not her fault her family raised her with innocent thoughts and intentions, I have a lot more to say but , honestly, sana is just precious, no one deserves her .PERIOD.
