After that I searched job for our livelihood as I didn't had anything with me.. I started my life that time from zero.. Now it's 10 yrs, am bringing up my daughters alone without any help (as my parents dnt accept me). It's really painful to live alone in this society.. Pls pray for my daughters... I lost my parents a year ago. I live in my parents' house with a lady who takes care of me and does the household chores as I'm a college student. It was a big deal for my relatives who criticized me a lot for deciding to live in my own house rather than just move in with any of my dad's brothers' families. Moreover, I am a single child and hence the apprehension, right. There is a deep rooted aversion to independence and independent women especially which baffles me..you guys won't believe how much I had to struggle just to stay at my own parents' place. I really liked when you talked about freedom. You have so many options to keep yourself engaged and enjoy your personal space. I'm so glad that I could take the right decision for me and did not fall prey to the pressures of the society and especially my so called family. Great video! Thank you.

I don't think ppl were upset about you living alone ( I could be completely wrong because in india this is a big deal). I think people were just confused because we recently saw a office makeover/setup which seemed to be at your home, which your current flat doesn't have and secondly people didn't know that you were going/ have gone through a divorce( which by the way is completely your right to share/not share).
Living alone is definitely something that I recommend that every single man and woman does in their lifetime, if you are financially able to do so. Will teach you so much about yourself and make you so much more mature

If you had been following her older posts on insta and her blog you would have noticed. She had mentioned her marriage and posted pics with her then husband. She posted once in 2017 , I think, that it had been a year since her divorce. Also, she changed her name to Chaturvedi from Srivastav. However, we never saw tanturms or drama on her videos. She always has the calm demeanor most of her followers would not have noticed.

She really has handled all of this gracefully. I have been following Ankita since she was in college and was one of the first beauty bloggers from India. She was one of the OG gurus. This was before the era of TH-cam beauty gurus. Her reviews were always so detailed and honest. Someone whose opinion I relied on. I remember her getting married and moving to Japan, and reviewing products from there. She even did her own wedding makeup and I remember admiring her for doing such a flawless job. I thought her life was as perfect as can be.
Life happened to all of us and slowly I stopped reading beauty and fashion blogs. So much happened in all our lives, good and bad. Then many years later I rediscovered my passion for makeup again and started watching TH-cam gurus. Lo Behold! I rediscovered her recently. She is one of the few OGs who has made a successful transition to TH-cam. I was surprised to see her back in India but didn't give it much thought. She seems to have changed so much yet the same. Still honest, warm and familiar.
      Dear Ankita
Some of us here have seen your life journey even if it has been in bits and pieces. We have also experienced a journey of our own with all its trials and joys. You have been a tiny part of ours (even in the form of product recommendations and tutorials).
I'd just like you to know that you have always been graceful in how you have handled yourself and your life; and still continue to be. It's wonderful to see you doing so well and come out strong out of this. Lots of love to you.

I have lived alone for almost 11yrs. When I was working and that period brought the best in me...I think living alone gives us time to do lot of self-introspection which can bring about a positive change if one stays grounded and focus on things which are going right ....Eating well I believe is very important in order to have a good thought process so all those staying by themselves must take good care and follow a healthy diet...

Even though I struggled those 10 yrs, now wn I look back, I value tht time. It showed me tht I had endurance, and I found peace. If ppl can understand n feel the beauty of solitude, no one wld ask y any1 lives alone. It also has its negatives, like every choice.

But my 2nd adopted dog, Valentine has become the reason of my freedom from that conservative family... Life was hell there or to say I didn't have a life of my own, i was a robot who wud only tk instructions from parents. And the rebel inside me always wanted to break free. I completely agree with you. To add to this I also want to say that when kids get married they should live separately and not with in laws. This just avoids unnecessary friction and unpleasant experiences in the long run.
Married couples should have their own space to live grow and understand each other.
In South Asia in laws just don’t know or want to know to set boundary and the girls always suffers.

Living separately from your parents does not mean cutting them off from your life. You can live close to one another and care for them without being on each other’s face.

About divorce - I've been trying to think of the best way to address this. Divorce isn't necessarily the worst thing to happen to someone. Sometimes you make wrong choices, which seem right at the time, but don't serve you well as time passes. And I'm glad that the law allows two people to exit that arrangement rather than stay together in misery forever, just because it made sense to be together a long time ago. I'm very happy, fulfilled and content with my life :) I've moved on, grown a lot, and found someone I'm happy with 💕

Your 13 minute long video left me speechless. You spoke for me and for many more like us, who have always roused curiosity as well as suspicion of the society around them on the topic of choosing to live independently, and not in their parents’ house. Today, for the first time I felt like I am not alone. It was like me speaking in front of the camera (only I would not look so good and confident 😐). This was the best video you ever made! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I was never sure about living alone. Yes living alone teaches you so many things like being independent emotionally and financially as you have mention here. My relation with my family is not so good you know they never appreciated me for anything and always criticized me. And my childhood was also not a very pleasant one either because of my past relationship with my family, friends and ex I went through depression and anxiety. Now i am having severe anxiety disorder and because of this condition now my family is critizing me more. I was never sure that I can live alone as a female in this country and moreover if i ever fell ill who will gonna take care of me etc. But to be honest if you really needed or wanted to be living alone then do it. As I said earlier my relationship with my family is not good and because of that my mental health is worsening more.

I think you forgot to mention one of the biggest demerits of moving out of your parent's house, specially if only one of your parents is still around... That is most of the times you can't be there for them when they need you the most... In emergencies, people usually try to rush back to their parents but that is if something very unfortunate happens... Otherwise most of the times, aging parents have to fend for themselves.... Though that doesn't or shouldn't stop people from moving out of their parent's homes but what I think is that they should be mindful that physical distance doesn't distant them from their parents emotionally and they doesn't end up using it as an excuse to avoid responsibilities....

Thanks for posting this video because I have never lived alone and it was great to hear this perspective. Friends of mine who do live alone too have had similar experiences.
I still live with mom and grandmom and this point of caring for a parent when they are older is very much what our situation is like. Mom is an only child, as am I, and my grandmother moved in with us when my grandfather passed away. After that when I was 19 my parents separated and I live with my mom. So this whole thing can get a fair bit more complicated when one is an only child. Of course that's a relatively rarer situation and I guess not really in line with this video's topic 🙈

    Advantages-- space, mental peace, freedom.
Disadvantage : if helping maid is not available then life is tough . Have to buy groceries, sabji ,cooking gas refilling and all other household chores by my self . ( even mortem se chuha mar gaya to ushey bhi feko)
One personal opinion -- staying with landlady is better than staying all alone in an apartment. It is much more safer. Plus you get a companion specially in a time like lockdown.
And always remember, freedom comes with responsibility.

    • @ashenamohamed

Cleaning, cooking and buying groceries are all living essentials. At a point I was a working woman living in a 1bhk doing all this. I don't think it's a big deal. And it does not hinder freedom in way to say with freedom comes responsibility. Is being responsible to run your own home and work so huge? Then again, it's a personal and financial choice.

Just to manage the household plus the office .. bringing your own groceries ...managing rent and other imp expenses ...then trying to have a disciplined or healthy lifestyle without getting emotionally drained was a huge task for me ... Coming home to an empty house really sucks but then again it teaches u to love ur own company ..u figure out ways to be content with your environment or situation and really be self reliant ...
