The camo on the beret is based on the card art of his original figure. I’ll use the plain beret but I appreciate the nod to OG card. It doesn’t come from nowhere
Honest review as always, loving these retro figures. Maybe a weapons pack made by classified with jetpacks to be purchased might make more people happy.
Get-off-my-lawn Stalker is kinda cool. Didn't purchase v1, so I can't wait for my order to arrive. I might to get a v1 eventually for its hat. Was cool that you showed it on v2. Thanks! My wallet hates you. 😊
Stalker was my first RAH Joe. Had the OG one with no Swivel Arm. Loved that Figure. Oozed 80s! I picked up the v1 Classified fig on heavy clearance, if this one is at Ollie's I may grab it as well.
Another great video dude! As far as Stalker being old, I fully support it. Stalker was first and foremost a Frontline soldier, and he's happiest being with the troops. I've met soldiers like him in real life, and they have a wealth of knowledge and never quit! ARAH all the way! Where can I get COBRA out houses? Do you sell them?
Always enjoy your reviews. At this point it getting very clear that retro line is not a complete 1 for 1 with the original 80s figure. Most have been a mash up of what molds are available, original figures, and the cartoon. Actually I like that Stalker is older and more mature. As most ranks aren’t in the figures name I don’t consider Stalker as just an E-5 Sgt anymore. For me he is one of the senior NCOs. Not all Joes should be looking 25ish
I really like the new(old) brighter colors. This Stalker will look good with the classic classified shelf and the 1st version will go with the Skybound shelf with Rock N Roll.
I believe Hama didn't do the designs for Hasbro, it was Ron Rudat. The comics were made to advertise the toys that Hasbro have. Hence, the comics were inspired by the tour designs and their packaging. Having a Stalker with this design makes the toy more faithful to the original toy card art. The comics Stalker has a red collar, if I remember correctly. The cartoon is another animal.
The cartoon is something else, but I believe actual canon comes from the comic ARAH, which is all Larry Hama. There’s a reason he’s left out so many figures lol. But I get it, there are a lot of iterations of GI Joe.
If the body is entirely just a recolor, does it still fit the Steel Brigade/Battalion head that came with Grunt? Also the beret that came with Falcon or Flint would probably be the better color green for this fig.
I swapped out the camo beret for the solid green OG. Stalker NEVER wore a camo beret, in ANY depiction (toy, comic, toon). Why does Hasbro do things like this?
I disagree to your disagreement. Because for most people who know of Gi Joe from the 80's. It is from the cartoon show. Only about 35% of 80's Joe fandom read the comic books back then The cartoon show pushed and heavily marketed the toys. As well as the comic book. Where ads from the comic ran during the time the cartoon was on. I see where you are coming from though. Because I am a die hard Claremont Uncanny X-Men fan. So while I consider the comics the true canon. There is a bunch of 90's kids who grew up watching the cartoon and never read the comics. So to them the cartoon show has its canon. Even if it that canon is backwards. Now the comic books is canon. But so is the cartoon to a certain extent. I agree that the retro line should reproduce the figures 80's look and most of the kit. But as Hasbro has shown they will add or remove accessories. So retro figures look and kit are not always a 100% accurate. If all retro Scarlett came with was crossbow and a backpack like her 80's figure. Many collectors including myself would have been disappointed. But since Scarlett in the 80's comic and cartoon used many guns outside of her cross bow. Then her kit fit with her retro version.
So I have no issues with them giving a little more than the original figure, I do feel they should give what the original had too. I mean it’s a retro card figure, and I do understand the logistics and expense it could cost.
Why would they make a Retro Card version of a figure that is READILY AVAILABLE and give him the same exact accessories, but without paint apps (minus the beret)? Retro card figures, IMO, should come with "Yo Joe" fist or fists, laser rifle, jump pack, etc. Those accessories have all been tooled, it sets the figure apart from the main line release, and more would people would be inclined to spend the full retail price at least once vs grabbing a heavily discounted Stalker that can be in their hand in less than 3 days. It was a lazy move, even from an army builder buck use standpoint. He looks cool, but the lack of imagination on his accessories is disappointing. Yo Joe!!
Molded weapons or accessories on figures are bad. I like them to be used if that make sense. Don’t look to bad at all.a better arm/ shoulder joints are needed to give them a dramatic pose. And Retro should mirror their original design.
I agree with everything you said, sadly I also understand why they don’t have those things. In the end it’s a good figure, but I wish there were some things they did better in the beginning
@@Apunkwithtoys agree the first version is a great figure. And understand that they don’t do to much with the basic web gear. But what we get it’s not a bad figure
I agree with you, the retro figures should mirror the original carded releases.
I do like the idea of making Sunbow releases.

You are correct, I remember them talking about that.

I love grizzled Stalker, but it's kind of funny to think both Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes are around the same age under their masks.
Highest listed rank I saw for Stalker, was Sargent Major (E-9) in the last line of comics. Idk, but it sounds about right for his looks 😂
Why is Stalker gently caressing Cobra Commander's cheek in the thumbnail?
Because he was grabbing it but his hand came off when taking the shot
@@Apunkwithtoys eh, I think a forbidden love story sounds better.
I just wish he didn’t look so much older but I get not wanting to resculpting. A cartoon line would be awesome if Hasbro did it and not Super7

I agree… I want to see the real American Hero and the red white and blue in the logo.
It’s something little that should be there.

Old Man Stalker wearing Stalker Pajamas

You bent the peg on the suppressor
I wanted a new younger headsculpt with a lighter skin tone. The other retro figures Duke Scarlett Snake Eyes Gung Ho all got new headsculpts.
Stalkers just not as popular

The old figure does look French. 😂 Like your review and your opinions. 👍
I’m also sick of the fifty different languages and all the other copyright crap they put on these cards
Well that is a Hasbro thing, the GI Joe team has no say in it. If you look at Transformers they have the say thing.
@@Apunkwithtoys I think most all these major manufacturers do it… the world today
I just don’t like it.

Nothing wrong with Fruit Stripe Stalker.
It's a flash hider on his smg, not a supressor
It's actually a flash surpesssor
